RE: Directv access card

Bill
Yes I understand and do believe you.
They (2 DTV representatives) continue to say that the card will convert the receiver to HD when I asked the question will the card covert to HD with the old receiver and they said yes. Go Figure.
Seems like this is the year for changes and letting go of the past normals and stepping out into the unknown.
As far as them sending it wherever there is a time out on the card and failure to act will cost $20.00 for a new card. So hope they send it to me and not the service address.

RE: Directv access card

Well I ordered the card so will see.
They are wanting to send to the service address but I am not there while in the RV so they are trying to figure that out.

RE: Directv access card

So Bill let me get this sorted out in my head.
You are saying that after Aug 31, 2020 I will not be able to get DTV at all even if the new card is installed?
DTV said it would convert the SD to HD ?? Not sure I believe that but??
I also need to correct that I have a D-11 a silver colored recever that came with the RV not a D-12
Thank You for the reply Bill

RE: Directv access card

If you are currently using a SD only receiver like a D12 or R series DVR (actually any receiver model that does not start with an H or HR) then DTV is correct that you will need new hardware to continue to receive the DTV signal when they end the SD broadcast in the near future.
I do have a D12 receiver with a 18 inch dish antenna. Hope all will work after wards.

RE: Directv access card

Rather than do nothing, call DirecTV and ask them if this is legit and ask them why? Chuck
Hello
I did call and was told that was not for a card but for an upgrade. She really did not seem to know about the email. I did call the number and was told my wait time was 42 minutes I hung up and then deleted the email.
Bottom line I think it is all BS DTV trying to get you on a new contract and I will wait and see just like the end of DNS "NOT".
JimR
ps I think they (DTV) is suffering from a rectal cranial inversion.

RE: First Aid Kit Contents

Get or make a good kit. LOts of sterile dressings of various sizes 4x4, and larger, a box of multi-size bandaids. Forceps, scissors, Kotex box to be used as dressings. Gauze (Kling) to wrap bandages. Benedryl, Tylenol, wire splint (folded) Antiseptic soap and treatment. Ace bandage, sling.
I have to ditto on this.
One thing I have put on a wire splint on a woman with a broken forearm worked well. But the feedback I got was that it does not work well with xrays.

RE: Chipmunks

To answer your question if you are staying awhile like I did for the summer hosting in Oregon I did the following.
I made a cage around the MH by using 1 x 2 x 8 ft long furring strips and hardware cloth 1/2 inch. I made frames from the furring strips with the hardware cloth attached using staples with an Arrow stapler.
I measured along the bottom of the MH in 8 foot sections measuring the clearance from the ground to the MH on each end of the 8 foot section and then made the frame. I then inserted the frame in between the MH and ground. I made the frames a little taller so it was a tight fit.
For the wheels I used my wheel covers (MCD they cover the wheel well) as a template I cut the hardware cloth and used pipe insulation ( 3/4 inch) to go over the end of the hardware cloth so not to scratch the MH and made the fit tight and holding.
For other openings I just cut the hardware cloth to fit and attached using wire ties.
The front of the MH was a little harder to figure out because of the curve of the bumper but using just the hardware cloth with no framing worked very well from left to right on the bumper. Using 2 x 4s cut into 2 or 3 foot long sections and attached to the cloth on the bottom so that they could be used as a hold down using rocks on them. The top just fit behind the bumper.
Simple hand tools and a screw gun or drill will work but the one tool that I just happened to have was a pair of tin snips to cut the hardware cloth. WEAR GLOVES
Cost was a little over $100.00 the first year less the second year. Well worth the cost.
Time involve a couple of afternoons between duty rounds at the camp.

What ever you get make sure it is microwavable, mine is not so I still use paper at times to heat or prep food.

RE: DirecTV dropping DNS

Important information
Dear JimR,
Regrettably, we must inform you of a new law that affects your programming. Until recently, the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act Reauthorization (STELAR) Act authorized DIRECTV to provide you access to your out-of-market broadcast networks—ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, and/or FOX. Unfortunately, Congress has decided to not renew key provisions of this law. As a result, on June 1, 2020, we no longer will be able to provide you access to these out-of-market channels. These are not available anywhere else. However, this change does not affect access to your existing local network stations.
If you’re paying for these channels, you’ll receive a credit within 1-2 billing cycles for this programming change.
If you have any questions, please call us at 866.595.9429.
Thank you for choosing DIRECTV.
As it states my local programing will not be affected but it is as I do not get locals in the RV.
I too have had the Distant Network Service for a longtime.
Maybe Dish will work for a while a lot of things are changing

RE: Crash Guards on Towed

This company makes off road bumpers for Jeeps they may know of someone that has what you want.
Rockhard offroad bumpers with integrated tow bar brackets 800-762-5427
Might look at a bumper on a patrol car to find the brand.
I have seen a push or crash bumper on a Motor Home but do not remember where or when but it was a diesel pusher. Also I would not trust a crash guard that plugs into the tow bar sockets (if I did understand what you described).
