RE: Sticker shock

I guess I got a bargain at my local RV shop. $100/hour. I don't think they have shop towels or any other cleaning supplies lol I was waiting for the junk yard dog to come out but in fact it was a pig. No lie. But he was the only shop that would work on my basement air. When I had the workhorse brake recall done by another shop they were $125/hour and very nice shop. No cost to me but I will gladly spend the extra $25 and not be greeted by a pig lolWas the pig the one working on the motorhome? It doesn't matter if the shop is immaculate if the guy doing the work is unknowledgeable of what they are doing. Pig was just the door greeter. Although the actual mechanic looked like he could use a bath. Of course it matters if the shop is immaculate. Means they care. And if they can also repair it correctly then it's a win win. The immaculate shop was working on newer high end coaches while the other shop had all older coaches. Both shops fixed my coach correctly So the immaculate shop still wins overall

RE: Plate fees are going up in illinois

This is just another reason by house is for sale. Leaving this state ASAP Where would you move to in order to get lower registration costs? When we lived in IL the rv plate I think was $104. We moved to AZ and it was $1250.

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

Thanks for showing your ignorance of fire restrictions. Under stage two restrictions the use of even propane grills is subject to restrictions. You can't just fire one up anywhere you please. You just proved it is asinine to believe everything people post on the internet. No ignorance on my part but more on yours for not knowing that i called directly and they said propane pits were fine. I didn't even say anything about what stage it was so more ignorance on your part Maybe you should look up fire restrictions first before claiming everyone's ignorance except yours. Stage II Fire Restrictions Prohibitions Building maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove including fires in developed campgrounds or improved sites is prohibited. Persons using a device fueled solely by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is permitted. Anything else?

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

What I have a huge problem with is places that don't allow for controlled flame stuff such as propane fire rings & the like. To me that's just asinine. X3 Might as well not let people cook outside on their propane grills too. Even when we boondock in the middle of the forest with fire restrictions they still allow propane fire pits.

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

Kids can't play with ignited branches? Not if you live in a part of the country that regularly experiences dry periods where everything is reduced to "tinder". Remarkably, even Florida has burn bans and frequent wildfires. Ya I get that. Should have put in a disclaimer about certain areas lol. But that would also go with the 2nd part of my comment, what about people smoking, in certain areas? As Dutchman was saying the butts are everywhere. We were visiting our daughter in san diego and they have gas fire pits by the ocean. "no cooking". Well we made smores. Lady makes a comment as she's smoking and there are cigar and cigarette butts in the fire and on the ground. All I'm saying is if you're going to stop kids from playing with fire then you have to stop adults from smoking. I don't like that smell just like some don't like campfire smell

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

"No open flames" is our policy and it works for us. I'm just curious, not trying to start arguments - why did you arrive at this policy? Are you in a heavily wooded area? Not heavily wooded, but we do have some trees around. Montana law holds that the total liability for a forest fire will rest with the person or entity that started the fire. A forest fire can cost millions of dollars to extinguish. Plus a forest fire doesn't have to start in the middle of a dense forest, they often begin in clearings and we have areas where there are adjacent hillsides and bluffs with range grass that is tinder dry in the heat of the summer. But is really came down to in park experiences. Replace enough scorched and melted picnic tables and have a trash bin area catch on fire due to people dumping hot coals into a plastic trash barrel you start to think about changing things. Then you have a group of people with a propane pit allowing their children to ignite branches they have broken off the nearby trees. They then proceeded to allow them to dance around waving them as if they were Fourth of July Sparklers with embers flying everywhere. That is the time for a policy that puts an end to all the nonsense. We went full on no open flames because we didn't want to argue about what is acceptable and what is not. There are surely people who make other reservations due to that policy, but there plenty of people who either accept it grudgingly, don't care one way or the other (vast majority, I believe) or welcome it with open arms. It's been 10+ years and we haven't gone out of business yet. Kids can't play with ignited branches? I guess I can understand that in today's society but that was part of growing up and enjoying a campfire. I don't remember any of us burning down the village because of it. Do you ban people from smoking too? And not because they might be on fire

RE: I Think I'm Outta Here

The OP's first post was October 9, 2018. In the twelve months that have followed they have a total of 23 posts. To me, complaining about a lack of posts when you post less than once every two weeks is a case of the kettle calling the pot black. Someone has some extra time on their hands lol He/she a member since 2003 Can't believe there wouldn't be a single post for 15 years Here ya go, 1,074 ( average posts per day: < 1 ) ol yeller has something to complain about when someone calls the pot black when indeed it's the kettle and lack of insight of posts posted

RE: I Think I'm Outta Here

This is a bit of an odd forum If you post cool pics of where you've been you get few replies If you post something positive in the good sam section it gets closed due to inactivity I asked why and they said to just start another thread lol Why? so it can get closed again in 2 weeks? Look at all the threads in that section. "closed"

You guys check in here on a daily basis? I hope I never get that boredUh, you just posted on a thread where basically you have nothing helpful to say. Wow, what do you do when you are bored? I come in here and post nothing helpful to say Just like every post in this thread like yours and 99% of the other posts in this forum I just come here for the entertainment and silly replies See? it's working lol 99% are not helpful? I have learned a lot from the posts on this forum. I have a game we can play. I'll find 1 post that is helpful for every 99 posts you find that are not helpful. Ready? Go! 31 posts in this thread alone lol Find 1 useful one 5 pages here, https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29973501/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfm 4 pages here, https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29879771.cfm Here's a perfect example. Someone can't add bleach to their fresh water tank and most people don't even read the op's post. Then there's are a plethora of answers. I really don't understand how difficult it can be but I guess for some it is and maybe they shouldn't own an rv https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29979109.cfm

RE: What do you want in a campground?

Tell me about it. I was on a commercial campsite, err, parking lot and was sandwiched between two groups drinking on loud music past curfew. I complained to the campsite administrator. Got a dismissive response saying: they are regular (and I'm just a poor two night transient -- turned overnighter). We just went through that I think we were the only people that actually pulled in for their 2 night minimum Everyone else were full timers. Actually it's a killer deal. About $100 a month and they can leave all their junk there. And they buy the next space and put up a patio deck. Then there's the barking dog contest and who has the loudest boom box. You can't complain since there's nobody after hours and the employee lives in the campground lol

RE: Looking for replacement AM/FM/CD unit

Is the CD part of your entertainment system like the main tv? If not just go with a double din 7" screen with touch screen and bluetooth. They come with CD players but nobody uses them anymore I took all the old cd player and ancient radio in my dash and it looks so much more updated. The extra space I made into an open compartment for "stuff" I also took out the ginormous 100# tv and replaced it with a lightweight flat scrren Electronics are cheap and make a huge improvement in updating your rv
