RE: SWFL to Hiawassee Ga pulling a 30 ft TT

Want to think it is 985 out of Atlanta, to 515 to 76 East. Good road.

Unless you have a generator, the A/C will not run off the battery. Most motorhomes come with a generator. But, also, they will shut off at 1/4 tank of gas.

RE: brake buddy

When I towed, I used a Brake Buddy Classic. Was very pleased with the product and the customer service. I understood the alert for the toad is a transmitter and therefore needed. IMO, I would call Brake Buddy and ask them. They are fantastic with customer service.

RE: Florida Plates; How to Prove We haven't Been There Lately.

I keep a daily log of travels. Will just staple receipts from that day to the log. Hope that is sufficient for the "checkers."

RE: Power awning partially extended

I hardly ever extend mine all the way it. It is a long way out there. They told me the valance should hang straight down when fully extened. I usually extend mine 2 to 3' only. If rain comes, put the awning in and also put it in every night.

RE: heartworm meds in the mountain west

Wonder why? I am from FL also and my pup is on meds 12 months a year. I traveled out west last year and no vet suggested I take him off. Get to back to FL and if they have missed a month, my vet would do a blood test before giving me more.

RE: 1996 Fleetwood Flair.

I had a 1999 on P-32 chassis.. it had airbags under the front. Have you checked for any?

RE: Buying a TT

I have a 2019 Chev Silverado, same specs as your. Personally, I would not want to pull one of that size with my truck. Not saying it can't be done, but more to consider than just towing. I don't have a manual for mine, but the Chev service dept told me 7,500 max loaded to tow. I am towing about 5,000 with weight distribution/stabilizer. Enough for my truck. With your size family, weight adds up fast. I would like to put airbags on mine.

RE: Well, it's over

Sorry to hear you have to hang up the keys. BUT, there may come a day, things will change. In May of 2008, the doctors told me my husband could never travel again due to health reasons. Traded the Class A motorhome for a fifth-wheel, did get a truck. Lived in FL. In Novemeber of that same year, we made a trip to Branson, MO in the fiver, then another year to TX (again) and several more trips until his passing in 2015. Never know! Good luck to you and yours.

RE: Traveling partner

Sorry, in today's world this is something I would not consider. Would have to be a realtive or a very good friend. No stranger. Sometimes in some of the RV magazines I used to see ads for this type of thing. Good luck and hope you find someone compatible to travel with.

RE: Grey tank mysteriously filled

Had a 2008 Hurricane motorhome. Only model which the bathroom sink drained into the black tank. Did not know when we bought it. Freeze expected in FL.. and someone said to leave the faucet in the bathroon on trickle, to keep water from freezing. Great idea (??) if it would have drained into the gray tank with the valve open. Hubby wakes me up at 4 a.m.... toilet won't flush. Duh. Checked tank gauge.. yep.. full. Went out, pulled valve... Swoosh!

RE: Leveling the B

When I had my B (or my truck and truck camper) I just moved it so it was fairly level. I did have the orange Lynx levelers when needed. Had 12 total, so always enough.

RE: Using RV portable tote tanks

I bought one last year on my journey across the US & back. Wanted a 30 gal but could only find a 21 gal. So, purchased that. And I got a real shock when I filled it and tried to hook it to the truck... just an estimate of 8# to a gal, 21 gal x 8 lbs... oops! Kind neighbor helped me. Next trip was 1/2 tank. I couldn't get the one with 4 wheels, but if I ever had to purchase aother one, it will definitely have the 4 wheels. The garden hose for the grey water is a great idea.

RE: Okay How many RV'ers here use CB-Radio's?

I have a regular handheld CB, similar to one posted in a picture above, but it does not have an external antenna. I use it to check traffic backups mainly. Years ago, we had the large size handheld ones.. and many years ago had the installed one under the dashboard with hand-held mic. Monitor Ch 19 when on the highway if I start seeing a slow down. For parking, my husband and I had the the pair of handheld little 2-way radios.

RE: Why Not a Palomino TC??

My dream was to travel cross county with a truck camper. I had a 2500 LB, CC truck, so was able to fulfill that dream! Bought a new Palomino Truck Camper and loved it. It had some really nice features to it. But, I had to use the bed area for storage as it was my full-time home and being 75 and climbing up and down to get "things" was a tad hairy. I did take it cross country and traded in OR and got a 23' travel trailer and towed that back to FL. Loved the Palomino and thought for the money, it was well made and it made the trip well, including in high winds. I found that matching the camper weight to available bed weight was a great decision and I put airbags on the truck. Drove beautifully, even over Wolf Creek Pass at 10,000' plus. The Palomino was an awesome camper for the money. I just needed more room. I left the U-shaped dinette made into a bed and either stood up or balanced a plate on my lap. Not easy. I would do it all over again.

RE: Picking up Truck Camper

My new truck camper hung over the back of my truck... I had an 8' bed. I would remove tailgate and leave it home.. if it works, you can always put it back on.

RE: Which plan to cover RV and Open trailer

With GS the Standard plan does not cover the trailer, only the vehicle. I had to one up with the Premier plan. Not sure on Coach Net.
