RE: Buying out of state

I recently purchased a travel trailer in OR...I am a FL resident. OR issued a 10 day temp tag (not near long enough to get FL title work done.) I paid FL sales tax to the DMV in FL while doing tag work from "the road." OR had no sales tax and I knew I would have to pay FL.

RE: River Walk cg in Coeur d'Alene

I called them when I was in the area the latter part of April. Price was a tad high for me. I stayed at Alpine RV Park, Hayden, ID, US95...around 35.00 a night and nice. Short distance back into Coeur d'Alene to visit the area.

RE: Wanting to upgrade camper

Not in the league with those mentioned, but I bought a 2019 Palomino Backpack HS8801. Weight was at 2,400 lbs. Worked well with my 2500 HD Dodge Ram, LB, CC. Black tank 7 gal, Grey 9. Fresh water 12. Not sure what size refrig was but one piece with freezer across the top. 2/20# LP tanks.

RE: Replacing dinette seat cushion foam

Measure thickness of current cushion also. I used high density foam from JoAnn Fabrics, for two dinette seats. Cut with an electric knife, slipped a "long dress bag" from a cleaners (like 50 cents each at that time) and put foam into cleaner bag, then put cover back on. Made a big difference. Cost me about 75.00 with 40% off coupon.

RE: Poor to Terrible WIFI

I have been out for about 6 months now. I have found about 50% of the campgrounds with wifi have been pretty good and the other 50% pretty sorry. It is what it is.

RE: What to do

Good Luck to you and no, it does not sound strange. My late husband knew I would keep on rving once he was gone. And I am. Right now I am on a 10 month trip and have enjoyed it. Yes, it would be nice to have someone to share the beautiful scenery and trip with, but I don't, so I take each day and enjoy it. My cocker spaniel is a delightful companion. I started this trip with a long bed truck and a truck camper, but 4 months into trip, traded truck camper for a 24' travel trailer and kept on traveling. A small C, even up to 26' feet or so and small tow car, 4 down, is very doable for a solo lady. I have done a 31' Class A, a 31' fifth wheel, the truck camper and now the travel trailer. With the truck camper, I did not take it off the truck and had to break camp to go get food or run errands. Not a big deal, but not enough room to live in. If you have the desire and the will, you will do fine. Good luck to you and blessings to you and your hubby.

RE: Is this a good deal?

I am from FL, but traded during a trip, in OR. I had to pay a 1,150.00 dealer fee plus 250.00 standard fee that OR DMV charges. I did my own tag work, paying transfer plate, title fees and stuff plus FL sales tax on the difference. I have never paid that much for a dealer fee and don't know if many dealers who take that fee off. I wanted that trailer, so I paid it. It is the out-the-door price which counts. Your choice.

RE: Florida Keys RV Parks in Winter

FL has no BLM camping... I think 1 COE park outside of Ft Myers... very nice. Tampa area you might be OK with 1-2 weeks... Daytona I went to for Christmas one year for maybe 5 days. Tampa area may be 25 miles out, but a nice drive to the beaches and lots of other things. I have been to the Keys and you might get lucky, but usually are booked a year in advance. I would think Panama Beach is "off-season" during Jan/Feb, so you might be OK there. Congratulations on your new rig.

RE: Drinking Campground Water...

I use campground water, no filter and have since the beginning of rving for me. I used to carry gallon jugs of "home" water for my spaniel and then if running low start buying WalMart spring water. Since I have been on the road for 6 months now, I have used and given my spaniel cg water. Do not see any difference. IF I have to use fresh water tank water tho, I do use bottled water for drinking and coffee.

RE: Very slow propane leak: how to find it?

I had a LP leak, could smell it at times... turned out to be the gas valve in the water heater. When I shut the hot water heater off, the flame would not go out. I was told by a few "just blow the flame out." No way. Just a thought. The intermitten LP smell was very hard to find. In my thoughts, LP problems need a professional to fix them. Costly, but safe.

RE: Kanab, UT to Hurricane, UT

BarabooBob..I started to go through Mt. Zion about 6 weeks ago and there was a sign NO RVS Allowed. I went up to the next highway north to get to Hurricane, Utah. OP might want to check that first if thinking of going that way.

RE: GS Roadside Assistance

Wow, that doesn't sound good. Why 200 if you had a spare tire, I wonder? I had to call them just recently from LaPine, OR and got great service. I was impressed with how quickly the provider got to me, got me going and I was on my way.

RE: blue ox tow bar loose

Blue Ox Customer Service may be able to point you to a dealer who can do maintenance on your tow bar. I took mine to Hitching Post in Ocala a couple of years ago and they reworked it all for $65.00. It was the Aventa.

RE: Question on Selling FW Hitch

The buyer wanted my rails when he bought the hitch. I had the hitch off and he removed the rails. Hope you get more than I did for mine ($100.00)
