RE: Would you back a camper for someone?

I am solo (widow) and have certainly accepted help in backing into a campsite if it was offered. Some people offer to guide me in, some would rather just back it in. At 77, I have no pride or shame and will accept any help offered when it comes to backing in. I try to get pull-thru's when possible. You may be one of those who can back it in perfectly.. your husband maybe able to guide you in. Go for it. I used to do all the work associated with traveling, so that part is still OK with me. Good Luck and happy trails.

RE: Northeast Oregon

Don't know if this is near your area you are planning, but I stayed in Rufus, OR at the COE.. think it was called LePage. Very nice. Near the John Day Dam as I recall.

RE: Locked Out!

My first thought was to press in on the door, but you tried that. Next is to spray the key itself with some silicone or graphite and put into the keyhole. If you don't have an unlocked window, can ERS help you out? They came once for me.

RE: Another Towing Question

If I am reading your post correctly, your Max. towing weight is 7,000 and your trailer is 7513..unloaded? I tow right at 5,000 with a 1500 and it is doable. At 9,000 #'s, I definitely would want a 250 or 2500. Just my opinion.

RE: Running a generator to exercise it when there's shore power?

I always ran my generator at least 30 minutes, but usually an hour each month. Actually I would take the motorhome out for a Sunday drive, once a month, about 50 miles each way. Run the genny with a/c load on it. Gave the tires/slides/jacks all a chance to move. And, always enjoyed the ride and the lunch in it. Was told not to let the gas varnish in the generator or I would have big problems.

RE: Fun with Doggie DNA test

Love it! One of a kind. Yes, I found out at 71, after losing my 13.5 year old cocker and getting a 9 week old cocker... wow! My vet told me the story of a man who had a full-blooded Rottie. Just for the heck of it they did the DNA... it came back 90% Rottie and 10% Poodle! Enjoy your new baby... they don't stay babies for long.

RE: Looking for a class A

I see Pops RV listed in many towns, in several states. I "internet" shop but really haven't been able to pinpoint the dealership. I wonder if they actually have a lot or maybe "consign" the rv and it is still in the owners yard? Interesting. I might be missing something in my search.

RE: Work/Play setup

Maybe a toy hauler? I often thought the "toy" part would make a good office or extra room. Someone on a FB page was talking about a Murphy bed in their trailer, so they are out there. Good luck.

RE: Roadside Assistance

I just renewed GS... they sent me a card by email, which I can print off. But, the number remains the same if you have the last card.

RE: No brakes on trailer

When I had that "trailer not connected" error message, I was told to look inside the trailer plug and make sure those contacts were pinched together (the one for the brake wire.) Used a pair of needle nose pliers and brought them together more. I also cleaned and greased with die-electric grease before doing that. Worked after that. Might be worth a try.

RE: Coming back to rving!

I had a nice 31' fifth-wheel, gross weight was around 6600# and my 2500 Dodge Ram Hemi 5.7 pulled it great. Would not have want to have gone heavier tho, with the 2500.

RE: Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

Thanks to everybody. Lots of food for thought. Clean driving record, only claim in 2019 and that was due to Act of God, 2 big tree limbs down on my truck in TN. Age, home state (FL) and truck (2019) are all a major factor in quotes. I tried State Farm, office here in town and they came in 200 more per year than current.

RE: Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

Thank you all very much. Gives me 3 more to check today. For laughs, I called USAA and lady told me they had no benefits for a deceased military spouse... no way to include them. (HUH???) So, I am not eligible as a WWII vet's spouse. I thanked her and hung up.

RE: Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

Geico has an office about 20 miles from me. I'll call USAA tomorrow... think that is military connected? I am a widow of a veteran.

RE: Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

Thank you both for your replies. I tried to go through my agent and she was no help at all. 38 years with same agency. Basically wished me luck. Oh well.

Tow Vehicle Liability Insurance

Doing shopping for new insurance company. So far, Geico and Progressive are coming in with the best quotes for full coverage for my 2019 Chev 1500. Any positives or negatives on either company? TIA..

RE: Timbrens,airbags!

I put Firestone air-bags on my 2500 Dodge Ram, LB CC, gas. Worked great. No sway.. even ride. 50# loaded.

RE: Fantasizing, I suppose

Casita, Scamp, Oliver, R-Pod.... Your plans sound good. I did 31 states in 1 year, solo with my dog. Best decision I made! Good Luck.
