RE: Orlando to Los Angeles Good Sam Trip Planner

There is a section of the interstate before Lafayette.. there is a name for the area.. .will give your dentures toothaches. Also, with the last hurricane going through there, I would want to check the road condtions and another one headed that way.

RE: Where to sell a Toad

I called a couple of RV dealerships nearby and asked if they knew of anyone looking for a toad, set-up. I sold one that way. FMCA used to have a section to list them in, don't know if they still do.

RE: Fall color prediction map

Currently in upper NW NC and will be in Mountain City, GA the first two weeks of October. Should be looking good! Thanks for the neat map.

RE: Do dogs have an internal gps?

My 3rd cocker spaniel, I am sure he recognized the blue rest area signs. Also, on our way to our home site.. at a certain turn off about 10 miles from the entrance to the resort, he would stand up the rest of the way. He knew. My current spaniel, after pulling into a campground the first time, by the 2nd time he knows we are "home." Wherever, what city, what state! He is a full-timer.

I have the book and it shows the basic area where the COE is located (by state) and then a description. I used in it my travels across the US last year and am getting ready to go to 2 different ones in NC in just a few days. Doing reservations on the website works for me, especially if you look at availability on sites for dates you want, first.

RE: Is a Gas 3/4 Truck and Pop-up Camper Safe in Colorado?

I had a Dodge LB CC 2500 gas, Hemi 5.7. Hauled a Palomino hard side camper.. did great going over Wolf Creek Pass (over 10,000' elevation) and no problems. I matched the camper weight to the truck, put on airbags and it drove great. No sway, no roll. Went from CO to NV and up to OR. Nary a problem.

RE: hitch lock??

Yes, I use a lock through the hitch latch down and usually a regular hitch lock. I don't know the name of it, but it is silver and slides over the hitch. Reading on FB sites, so many campers are being stolen... from owners yards and storage yards. Haven't heard of one from a campground yet, but I have to lock, so usually put it on.

RE: Watch That Diamondplate!

Thanks for the info. I would have never thought about that diamondplate doing that. I have two batteries right there. Sure will remember this post.

RE: Moving a 5th wheel from Florida to New York State

Horizon Transport out of Indiana might have a hauler... also as someone else mentioned, try a rv dealer and get the name of the transporters the dealer uses. I think I would look for one in the area where the rig is now parked. Hope your wife progresses well with her treatments. And with Covid shutting things down, it is all stressful. Good luck and blessings to both of you.

RE: BEWARE Keystone Hideout

Thanks for the info. I have a 2018 Keystone Hideout. One day, I will crawl under the trailer and see what I can find. Hopefully they solved the situation by the time mine was built, but still worth a check.

RE: Landing gear issues

I had the 30 amp in-line fuse pop and the dealer told me they pop when the landing gear in over-extended. A commercial transporter delivered mine and he couldn't get it unhooked from his truck and neither of us knew why the landing gear would no longer work. Assume he over-did it at the dealership when he brought the legs up and then they wouldn't come down on delivery. Called the service dept and that is how we found the issue.

RE: 2 Black water holding indiators on Keystone Cougar

Do you have 1-1/2 baths? Possibly 2 black tanks. I had a Montana fifth-wheel with 2 galley tanks... one outlet was behind the 2nd tire, driver side. Found it 3 months after purchasing unit. Tank was full!!! Kitchen sink only.

RE: Who is a Full Timer with a Camper?

I bought a brand new Palomino truck camper, no slide and left for a cross country trip. I have been full-timing since 2004. I found that I used the bedroom area for all my stuff and made the u-shaped dinette into a full time bed. But, that presented an eating problem. Either stood up or tried to balance food on my lap. I had scissor steps on the back (I know you mentioned side entrance and I have seen Lance campers with side entrances, but I had to watch weight on truck camper to match my 2500 truck). I broke my leg in TX and tried to manage the scissor steps with that and that was a real challenge. For traveling, the TC was the greatest. Just not enough room for me and my cocker spaniel. I traded the TC in OR for a 23' travel trailer and towed it back to FL. I miss the TC, but trying to access my things up in the bedroom area were a real challenge for me. Full-timing is possible in one. Met a couple who went from a 37' fifth-wheel to a TC with 2 slides and 2 German Shepherds. They were doing great with it, full time. Good luck. Make it work if that is what you want.

RE: Accepting our fate....perhaps a TH after all

Sounds like a good plan... I haven't seen one in that size with a bunk, usually the ones I have seen have the two folding sofas, one each side in the rear. Also, have not seen a deck, but maybe that is an easy addition.. Where I am currently staying, there is a Puma Palomino TH, about 27 or 28', being pulled by a F150. Looks good to me as I have a golf cart I would like to take along. So, I have kind of been looking at them in the campgrounds as I travel. Good luck on your search and sure there will be something out there to meet your needs.

RE: Taking the dogs with

Kids and dogs in back seat will sort it out themselves. Please, NOT in bed of truck, even under camper shell.

RE: 1977 Dodge Sportsman

Check radiator hoses, too. Awesome find and should be a lot of fun to fix up and use. Enjoy!

RE: Tire covers

I always keep my tires covered unless just an overnight stop or up to about 3 days. Anything over that, they are covered from any elements.

RE: Is there a weight limit on cabover bed?

The brand new camper I bought had a Serta mattress with pillow top on it in the overhead. So, I would assume it would be OK. Mine was the north/south bed if that makes any difference.
