RE: Emergency Travel - Texas to South Georgia?

Please do check Hospice rules. There is also a campground in Jennings, FL, right on I-75 which is 9 miles south of Lake Park, GA. It was Jennings Outdoor Resort but might be a KOA now ( if GA has a lockdown.) Safe travels.

RE: This might be helpful for single ladies

Interesting write-up on your solo experience. Glad it all worked out for you in the end. I took off Nov. 29, 2018 for 13 months on the road, was 75 at the time. I never once felt fear, only boon-docked one night the whole 13 months. Went from FL to WA (via TX) and did 31 states during my travel time with my cocker spaniel. Returned to FL on Dec. 30, 2019. I was cautious, but never afraid. Took roads I never ever would have thought to take.. saw the most beautiful sights and wouldn't take a million for my memories and that trip. Back in FL for now Had another round planned for this year, but with all that is going on, thinking I might get to do only half this year and half next year. If you had not done what you did, you would have always wondered "should I have?" Stay safe and healthy.

RE: Taking RV to FLA (west cost) to pick up mother in law

fourthclassC.... I think you are doing a great thing by coming to FL to pick up your MIL and taking her back. You might encounter a few closed campgrounds, but I suggest you have a few picked out where you "think" you might stop for the night and call ahead to see if they are open and accepting overnighters. By lunch each day, you should have a good idea where you are headed to for the night. Take precautions at the fuel pumps and just normally do what you are doing at home to keep safe. I am in FL right now, was supposed to leave out on a 6 mo trip but have put plans off with all of this going on. Good Luck, stay safe.

RE: Senior Citizens Speak Up

I am a widow, living on a fixed income. I use a couple of different clubs to save money on camping fees. My travel trailer is my full-time home and I don't have the income to pay the high fees the campgrounds are asking. I cannot afford a condo or regular house. I am with Johno02.

RE: Newbie looking for advice!

All that Lynnmor posted and also I would check tire mfg. date. May need replacing if 3-4 years old. I bought 2 used ones in the last few years and I did good, except for the tires on one of them. 3 years old and first trip out, 2 blew on me. I would probably offer 13,500 and see how it goes...

RE: Slideout relays

Don't know on your unit, but I had one in a storage bay, behind a panel at the rear, maybe 6" tall by 12" long. Two relays (one slide out.) Had to look for it.

RE: Buy Now or Wait on the Crazyness to Subside??

If I wanted to trade or purchase outright, I would do it. But, that is just me. Not sure how much more dealer would be motivated right now, but it is what it is. Good luck with your decision.

RE: Heading Home (North)

jdc1 Agree with you to a point. In RV's we don't have much room to "stock." An extra pack of TP or paper towles is about it... So, I don't think us RVers are the cause of this mass hysteria in stockpiling.

RE: My 12 lights and other appliances do not work from battery

Coach batteries under hood? May be, but my coach batteries were always somewhere else in the coach, compartments or under steps into coach. Under hood were engine batteries. My battery disconnect was always for the coach batteries. If me, I would look for a mobile rv tech or if unit is driveable, do you have a dealer nearby?

RE: fifth wheel gas stops

I used to start looking about 1/2 tank when I towed my fifth-wheel. I gave up on truck stops. Too much congestion trying to get in/out, gas truck. Tried to find gas stations with pumps not slanted. Or, I mostly unhooked every night, then went to fill truck up.

RE: texas rv parks

My very favorite area in TX is the Hill Country. I like Skyline Ranch in Bandera, about 50 miles from San Antonio. So much to do in day trips, beautiful countryside. I stayed in about 6 different areas of TX in Jan/Feb of 2019. All had something to offer.

RE: Coronavirus practical issues

I travel alone, 76/widow. Right now back in home territory (FL.) Got super sick about 3 weeks ago. For 2 days I basically went from sofa to bed to sofa and tried to fix whatever I could find to eat. Fortunately for my companion, I stock food in the freezer for him along with his dog food. I finally made it to a Dollar Store and picked up some stuff to get by with. Learned to have about a weeks worth of staples, canned food, bread, milk, oatmeal, soup on hand. I have no family... am sure a neighbor or two would have helped if necessary.

RE: Anyone canceling trips due to Corona virus?

Leaving FL on May 1, returning to FL on Nov. 1. Doing Northeast and over to MI, down through IN, eventually to No. GA mtns.... no plans to cancel. Now, if had airplane or cruise ship reservations, think I would.

RE: Traveling with a tailbone injury

My late husband had a tail-bone problem and I found a slanted cushion with the cut out in back. It relieved the pressure on the tailbone and he did fine for at least 50 miles at a time. I seem to remember Walgreen's. It was not the round type donut. I fell in TN years back, actually broke that bone and just sat on a pillow all the way back to FL.

I use a portable step, but was able to find a wide one. There were 2 sizes in the style I bought.

Black Tank Sagas? Yeah, sure we all have our stories to tell about that! Some a lot funnier than others!
