RE: Tailgate

You can probably find a matching one to yours for sale in the local area. Put an add on Facebook stating what color you are looking for. Offer $500, they may just get stupid and try to sell your own tailgate back to you.

RE: 2000 F350 7.3 diesel mileage

Solo I’m getting 17 mixed city and highway, mostly highway. Really can’t complain too much, well made trucks.

RE: 2000 F350 7.3 diesel mileage

2001 7.3 6 speed 3.73 rear pulling a 32’ fifth wheel at 70mph I get about 9.5 mpg. I would save some fuel by slowing down some, but I have a hard time forcing myself to do that. These 4 lane highways just seem to go on forever. 305,000 miles on my truck so far.

RE: Advance on Travel Trailer

There is not enough length difference in those two to matter at all when backing. I can’t comment on if your suv will be ok towing it or not, but soon enough you will get some advice on that.

RE: Mini Split AC - Condenser unit in fifth wheel basement??

I would be concerned about the added heat load to the camper. Along with leaving the access door open, you may need a fan to force some air movement. I would also caution you on draining the condensate to the sink drain. That is going to add quite a bit of water to your grey water tank. If you camp in a hot humid place without full hookups, that could be a problem. You may be onto something, keep us updated as to what you find.

I like that top one. I bet you’d have to pay a pretty penny for that one!

RE: Feeling the urge

Take 385/287 north out of Texas, you miss New Mexico that way.

RE: Another Mile, Another Day

With the trailer, probably 500-600 would be about it. Without it, maybe 1100-1200.

RE: Toyota fake 3/4 ton spotted, overheated

Its hard to haul heavy up hill when you have the thermal capacity of a 2L bottle. I’m interested in what you mean by this comment.

RE: 2020 Ram 2500 Hemi 8 Speed vs the Ike Gauntlet

I was really wishing the ram would have done better. Too bad it wasn’t a 4.10 rear pulling 16,000 like the other trucks. Now I want to see the 6.2 with a 4.3 rear pulling that load up the hill.

RE: 3 valve v-10 vs. new 7.3?

Probably not that much difference. I would think that the ten speed transmission makes the biggest difference.

RE: Help - TV - Lance 2445 & Escalade

Wow, that’s a lot of squat! Looks like they could use a WDH, bring the tail up and nose down.

RE: Large camper with single AC

Retired JSO has a great solution, that’s what I’m doing to mine. Many places sell used ac units off of wrecked RVs, you could do the whole job for $300 or less.

RE: Help - TV - Lance 2445 & Escalade

Like stated already, you will probably be right at, or over your payload. I’m not sure how that air ride system will handle all the weight. You do have a lot of things in your favor, that Escalade is going to be long (I assume it is the suburban length and not Tahoe length), it’s heavy and you have a lot of power. Even with a transmission cooler, you will want to keep an eye on your temperature while towing, although it may never be a problem. If you upgrade something, you may want to consider LT rated tires since the Escalade probably came with P rated tires.

RE: 2020 F250XL 6.2 V8

I’m not saying that the torque multiplication makes it better towing, just interesting read that’s all. I do wonder if you were completely isolated from the engine, no tach, no sound; what the opinion of gas engines would be. My car will downshift on hills and turn 4,000 and most of the time I don’t notice it, when I pulled my travel trailer with a Chevy 5.3, I would notice the 4000 rpms, didn’t mind it so much, the shifting of the automatic is what I didn’t like. I much prefer to tow with a standard.

RE: Good Sam Insurance is harrassing me

Calls every day? I’d cancel my policy the first time I they called back after I told the person on the phone not to call. I would consider calls every day harassment and someone shouldn’t have to opt out of harassment.

RE: 2020 F250XL 6.2 V8

I remember reading an article that compared the V-10 to a diesel and showed how through gear reduction and higher RPM that it would actually put more torque to the ground than a diesel. Interesting reading...
