RE: Level Mate Pro

The whole reason to use the Level Mate Pro is to help level the RV side to side before you unhook. It will also tell you how much front to back. You can move little back, maybe forward or move little to one side to find a better level spot . It tells you how much leveling blocks need to level RV. You don't do this with your slide out. Once level and unhooked you put out your slide. X2 My trailer is level and the stabs down before I put the slide out.

RE: Looking for portable electric space heater for rv!

As mentioned by one poster earlier, we also use a Vornado electric heater in our trailer. We have used it for quite a few years in weather down to the 30's and it keeps us comfortable. In addition to heating a quite large area, it is very quiet, in contrast to some of the other elec heaters we have tried. The fan blows the heat out for quite a ways and does not interfere with the tv or talking etc. Barney https://i.imgur.com/YKTQJEvl.jpg width=300 X3 for the Vornado's

RE: Fridge makes clicking sound in Area where fridge is

The clicking is the igniter for gas mode, put the switch to auto, then when you are plugged in it will run on electric. In auto it will go to gas when you are unplugged.

RE: I got my new gas light.

So it is nostalgia thing? Years ago, I had gasoline powered lamp. It was original cool-miners light, what was cool as it had self-igniter (rare 40 years ago) and flame had double steel mesh around, so any methane presence would be indicated by internal blows, but without igniting gas around. It was cool as hell, but over the years its practicality diminished and finally it ended in the garbage. So back to my question. Why not slap couple of LED panels inside the old fixture and have it all without maintenance hassle and without endangering your life? Get over it. He doesn't want leds, he wants a functional gas lamp and he is aware of the risks.

RE: Motor Home or Toy Hauler

They'd be better off renting an apartment for a few months unless they plan on using the toyhauler for the next few years. This. A new dually and a tow hauler is a 100K decision. A used class A is a 25-50K decision on the cheap end. How long will this house search take? What is the RV budget? $25K pays a lot of rent. 100K pays even more. What are we missing? Money not being an issue?

RE: Winterizing Travel Trailer

I've always used the compressed air method, and it works fine if you take your time, and is easier to dewinterize come spring. That said, both methods are perfectly effective if done properly. The idea that compressed air is only valid for moderately freezing temperatures is absolute foolishness. Water freezes when it's below freezing, and it doesn't freeze "more" because it's far below freezing. Either the plumbing is (basically) free of water or its not; if it is, you're good for any temperature, and if it's not, you should avoid conditions where it would freeze and burst fittings, etc. X2

RE: Honda EU generators, BLUETOOTH, FINALLY!

... but the CO monitor, if it shuts down the generator, would be useful for idiots who run generators inside their homes or garages. Ditto. There's still people that do it! and the sticker on the top pointing where the exhaust is, uhhh...over top. I guess you have to place warnings everywhere for the stupid people out there. Stickers don't bother me, I "debadge" anything that comes with them...generator, camper, etc.

RE: Moles

Moles? The only way I have ever seen to get rid of them, and keep them gone involves getting rid of grubs. Nothing to eat? Gone. X2. Treat the area with Scotts Grub-Ex.

RE: Best Instant Tent Feedback Needed

Hi @Renee, We are using CORE 4 Person Instant Dome Tent. You may try Ozark Trail 8 Person Instant Cabin Tent. Thank you! CORE is one we have on our short list. We have a Core and love it!

RE: Are all new RVs built this bad or is it just mine?

Really? The same junk could be made in Cali, but nobody could afford or would want to buy it because it would cost twice as much.

RE: Are all new RVs built this bad or is it just mine?

Is this your first RV? The only way for the RV lifestyle to be sustainable is for you to learn to deal with these kinds if issues yourself. You gotta be able to fix stiff. X2

RE: where 2 get water for RV before you reach your destination?

It one thing if you are on the road and need water. Sure you get it from wherever you can. However if your leaving from home, you are better filling your tanks from a known source and bringing it with you. The weight of the water is negligible and will have no measurable impact on your MPG's I think for a lot of people it's the fear of "tank drop".

RE: Tires

Definitely upgrade the load rating tires and always inflate to max PSI. That rating allows for heat. Under and over inflation leads to tire failure. BAD advice! Please explain. I have run max psi on three different trailers, all of them with "china bombs" and have not had one blowout or even a flat. Lucky I guess?

RE: Adding a vent to roof

I just did this to a 2016 Coachmen Apex 239RBS. I had the same issue of not enough ventilation in the front (bed area) of the camper. I do have a fan (small, one speed) at the rear of the camper in the bathroom and thought about just replacing that with the Fantastik fan, but I just knew it would not work as well as having the fan up front. My roof is nothing more than a sandwich of rubber over 1/4" luan plywood, 4" to 5" of styrofoam and the ceiling which is 1/4" luan. I used a magnet to locate supports (mine are steel) and they are 4' on center. I have ceiling lights that run in the center and length of the camper that I was able to get power from. The wiring actually lays on the ceiling in a hollowed out "raceway" in the styrofoam. They sell a vent install kit which will have butyl tape to use under the vent lip, mounting screws and dicor caulk to seal the top. So far so good. No leaks and nice air movement up front.
