RE: Taking Dog Food from Canada to USA

dfm, is right. To go to the USA it has to have been made in the USA and as said before, it has to be in the original bags. 'Tis why I fed mine Purina. 'Cause you can get it in both countries and vets agree that it is good nutrition. :)

RE: A new forum PLEASE

If it's a gathering why not put it in the Rallies, Shows and Gatherings forum? 'Cause there are recipes for what food is cooked at the DOG. & sometimes competitions for different types of food. :p

RE: A new forum PLEASE

^ Just looking at thread subjects - looks like the G is for Gatherings. Dutch Oven Gatherings. I think the DOG posts belong here - after all that is definitely camp cooking - just skip them if not interested. Ditto :B

RE: Toxic Bue Green Algae Warning

OK, and thank you for this topic. I watch a number of animal online sites. In the one Mississippi River Flyway the animals are mostly birds, but I have seen a few turtles. It is interesting how many parts of that river system have stagnant water and how many of the birds go around looking for food in these stagnant sites. These sites often look to me as if they have this blue green algae. So, how many animals are not bothered by the blue green algae? &, if I'm right, why are they free from this poisoning? :)

RE: Legend Cast Iron Multi Cooker Skillet Set

I got most of my CI at one of the better known places where individuals can post items for sale. My favorites are Wagner or Wagner Ware. Wagner Ware started in 1890, so my Wagner frying pan 10" with 10" lid are quite old. Prices in those days were quite affordable. I have a strong collection of CI now, so I'm not looking any more. I know my 10" CI Dutch oven is from Camp Chef. & I have bought through Cabelas, the camping supplier, too. :B

RE: RCMP seek witnesses - Liard Hot Springs death investigation

UPDATE : Suspects bodies confirmed dead have been found - CBC News are still updating this story. Reports in print at CBCnews online say autopsy 'will be set up' to confirm identity and determine cause of death. Male bodies were found 1 km from items found on the Nelson River. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/rcmp-significant-announcement-1.5239053 :)

https://www.foxnews.com/world/canadian-thrill-kill-suspects-face-grizzlies-blood-sucking-flies-as-the-laws-long-arm-closes-in When I have been down in the States I have picked up quite a number of cases where Fox clearly had NOT checked their facts on stories from Canada!! :)

RE: RCMP seek witnesses - Liard Hot Springs death investigation

Although there is mention of the railroad to Churchill, there is no mention of the Nelson River*, which leads to York Factory. My memory of fur trading days says the English ended their ocean voyage at York Factory. :) * Online article about York Factory and the building owned by Parks Canada, says Hayes River.

RE: RCMP seek witnesses - Liard Hot Springs death investigation

I find it strange that the authors of the articles speak about the 2 suspects as having spent a good bit of time in the past 2.5 years doing survivalist activities in the bush. Then in the next paragraph comment that there is only one road going and coming in the area where the latest vehicle fire occurred. Sue, you must know quite a few people who are capable of living off the land, especially in summer. Have you or do you know of police officers who can live off the land and might the next level of searching be in that method? :)

RE: Lodge Cast Iron Griddle

My Wagner (i.e. pre Wagner Ware) 8" frying pan is my most used item. I use it every day. Restaurants up here use the 9" Lodge griddle for items they call sizzle serve. :B

RE: Cape Breton Island

2 areas I really liked are the very northern part of Cape Breton - at least 2 days of walking. & the Fortress at Louisbourg, at least one day of visiting many parts of that community and finding out what made it so special in the colonial era. Cabot Trail - well I used to live within 1.5 hours of Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland. & that has at least 100 x as many places special to Planet Earth over the NS park. You see in the Gros Morne Days the locals insisted on being a part of the park and still are. The Feds insisted on taking local settlements away when they set up the Cape Breton Park. Though, yes, Cape Breton has scenery and music. :C

RE: Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island

IMO big IMO, best place to visit is the reconstructed Fortress of Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island, NS. Plan a day. There are eateries and restaurants. (the 1st from labourers tradition and the 2nd from the upper crust ways of the 18th century) Guides are in costume of the place they serve. :B https://www.cbisland.com/louisbourg/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuo_Sx67I4AIVy1YNCh0N0wtdEAAYASAAEgI7DPD_BwE

RE: Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island

Remember when crossing to and from PEI, you pay when you leave. There is a ferry and there is the Confederation Bridge. The ferry costs more. Be sure to get your provincial guides and maps from each province and state. Go to www.google.ca, use search term name of province or state and tourism. Each has its own map, which gives you information you won't get on the commercial maps. :C
