RE: RV registration in SD

I believe you would find yourself in hot water. Nearly every State and Insurance company requires that all of your vehicles be registered in your home State (determined by your drivers license).
Ask those who have registered their RV's in Montana to avoid taxes in their home State and have their cars registered elsewhere.

RE: Opinion on Forest River Berkshire Quality

Tiffin and Newmar would be my #1 and 2 choices but I am not that familiar with the FR products. I just know that the owners tend to be huge supporters of those products and their support.

RE: Macerator and Drop-Ins

Give Happy Camper a try. Get powder and best product I've ever found.
There, is of course, the argument that you don't need any chemicals if you use enough water, but from time to time I will throw a bit in there.

RE: Hooking up to water/sewer

I like to hook up to city water, fill my tanks, turn off the water and use the water from the fresh water tank. Refill as necessary when the FW tank gets low. This keeps fresh, sanitary water in the FW tank and keeps that water fresh and drinkable at all times.
Dumping procedures have been discussed.

RE: Winegard antenna… what’s it good for?

Winegard does make a dome for the reception of local OTA TV. It is not the same as a satellite dome and the 2 are not interchangeable but rather purpose specific. It sounds like you have a satellite TV dome which should work with either DirecTV or DISH. There should also be a separate antenna up there for your OTA TV reception. That antenna will likely either be the Batwing style antenna or a disk shaped omni-directional antenna.

RE: Towing 5K # with a gasser

What are the RV weight ratings? What is the tow hitch rating. You need to know the max RV weight without a towed and the combined rating for fully loaded with towed. GVWR (I think).

RE: Deisel handling

Do deisels generally require upgraded suspensions in order to handle good on the road? I have a 30ft gas and had to put $4500 into upgraded suspension in order for it to be safe to drive.
As a direct answer, and with all politics and whining aside, the chassis that a diesel RV is built on will not require upgraded suspension in order to handle well. In most cases, there are not even upgrade options available for this kind of RV. My first RV was a diesel pusher but was also a very low end coach and it did not handle well either. It was under powered and on a chassis with 19.5 tires (early 1990's). These just don't really exist any longer in the current RV market and you should expect excellent ride and handling from a diesel powered RV. If you want the best diesel ride then you will want to buy one with a tag axle as the ride and handling is determined by the chassis and not the power source.

RE: 02 four winds tv cables

If you cannot run a new cable via the same route you can take a different one. Maybe you need to run the cable to the base of the antenna and then across the roof to a more accessible entry location. Depending upon where the booster is located, look around and see if you can locate easy access to the roof and you have found the path for the new coax. Don't be concerned about problems with a coax laying on the roof. You just secure that to the roof and it will be good for many, many years to come.

RE: Gray Tank Smell (Seriously annoying)

It's a one way valve to allow air into the drain pipes. You can see a picture of one at this link.https://www.homedepot.com/p/Oatey-1-1-2-in-ABS-In-Line-Cheater-Air-Admittance-Vent-39012/100204205#overlay

RE: Tire pressures

Just saying that’s what I’ve been doing with the original tires and they lasted nine years before we saw any little crack starting to form that’s why I bought the new tires so it seems like whatever I’ve been doing seems to be working any comments on that.
I not want to sound negative but it appears you came in and asked a very good question but don't like the answers. The tire pressure stamped on the side of the tires is the COLD tire maximum rating. If you choose to inflate to max pressure when the tires are cold then you do not need to adjust the pressure down while or after driving. Yes, the pressure will be higher but that's what the tire manufacturer expects and why the pressure rating is there. The following morning the pressure will have dropped back to the cold pressure and you will be good to go the next day.
If you lower the pressure to the cold rating while the tire is hot the next day, after the tire cools, your tire pressure will be too low and you would need to reinflate before leaving.

RE: Portable 12k BTU Installed In Toy Hauler

I used a similar setup when one of my A/C's went out. It was 110 outside and with my one working A/C plus the portable A/C it was in the 70's inside the coach. There was no issue with too much hot air being drawn in and I was able to run the drain tube to an outside drain. It was a nightmare until we installed the portable and a pleasure once it was up and running. If you are uncomfortable and have somewhere to exhaust the air it an excellent option.

RE: Portable 12k BTU Installed In Toy Hauler

Those A/C units produce a high volume of air that needs to exit that vent. You might want to check the amount of back pressure of the exhaust air as that exit vent has lots of holes but it has much more solid space. I had a similar setup for an Cruisair unit and it could only be made to work properly once the vent was opened up. Changed it out to an expanded metal grid and everything was great.

May or may not be clear but hopefully it means this part of your project is on track. I'm beginning to think this is not really a project with an end anticipated but rather a blog to display carpentry skills.

RE: Looking for 5 star RV Park

sailor Lou I'm looking for CONCRETE or ASPHALT pad. Every place is gravel, dirt or grass all over the USA.
I believe everyone understands WHAT you want, but there are 100's of them. The question is WHERE?
Do you have a class A coach? Many of the most expensive resorts are limited to class A.
