RE: Revisiting pop-up campers

Look at Northstar popups as well. They're cheaper, nice enough, and easier to find used. Their 650SC fits inside a shortbed and has a wetbath (you can always shower outside if you want the space). Don't bring the kids. :)

RE: Northstar 850 sc Electric roof lift

I'd look into using a drill (after making sure the lift system is in good shape). People do that for tent trailers all the time. Not sure how the weight compares; they have shorter--but wider--roofs and a lot more weight in the sidewalls. I have a TC800 and would use the drill if I had rooftop AC and a bad shoulder. The new lift system is built into the cabinetry and probably hard to retrofit without gutting much of the camper.

RE: easy on/off truck caps?

Getting a second truck (as described by JRscooby) is my favorite plan so far! :) Hehehe As a city-dweller I don't have a barn but I can set up some sawhorses in the garage and put a couple teenagers to work if I have to. This sounds doable! Appreciate it. Thanks all!

easy on/off truck caps?

Anybody regularly swap out a cap for a TC? Are aluminum caps light enough for two to handle? Any recommendations? (Shortbed F350) Thanks! (The soft caps (like Bestop) are nice but I'd rather have something a bit more secure and that I can put a boat on.)
