RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

So... after two years, has Tesla actually "unveiled" anything? According to the original post, a new truck was supposed to be unveiled in October, 2017. Just the "semi prototypes". One would think out in California - if there were more than just 2 or 3 of them - they would be everywhere. Youtube videos all over the place - I do see some of those occasionally, but nothing spectacular. I haven't seen the Tesla pickup yet. I'm not holding my breath on how it'll look, either. Frankly I liked that one that the lady cut out of a model X. Who knows, maybe Musk will pull something amazing out of his behind.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Wow, it got so quiet in here after the Ford reveal. Personal opinion - it only resembles a mustang, and a couple of my friends hate the shape already. But it's electric, 200 plus miles on the base model. Only problem is the base model sounds more expensive than the Model 3 base :( 370 mile range on the mach-E sounds great. Price is getting up there too. click click2 click3 There are many more links coming. Can we all at least agree that more competitors are good. And Ford getting into the game will hopefully make everyone notice.

RE: Electric vehicles

Ugh...so when the temp drops below FIFTY degrees, they have a problem with SOC? That sounds like a very poorly engineered battery/bus. Or a city that doesn't want to admit it made a mistake. If an internal combustion engine vehicle had battery issues at 50 degrees, nobody in the Midwest would be able to move in the fall or winter...

RE: I could live with an Atlis type truck

Atlis trucks look interesting. Be kinda fun be done with $3 to $5 per 10 miles for fuel, 8 mpg range anxiety, lazy grade braking, oil changes, brake jobs, broken engines, having to argue about synthetic oil, rank exhaust fumes on a winter morning, etc no brakes??? How does it stop? I'm assuming regen braking. But it's still vapor at the moment. Heck, even InsideEV's kinda rakes it across the coals: click

RE: On Call for Work While Camping

Yes. I'm also in the IT business. As long as my hotspot can connect, I haven't had any problems in doing any remote support work. The worst part has been the intrusion on a relaxing vacation! :) I got called a couple times while camping this weekend. Was not too bad. I probably had to do an hours worth of work. I work in IT as well, doing level 2 support (currently remote mostly) and all our EU's also are remote with some having the ability to go into an office. It's one of the reasons we slowed down and went to a seasonal campsite with DSL...our wifi hotspot in some areas just wasn't going to cut it. Thankfully they changed the support model about 3 years ago so I am no longer on the "on call rotation".

RE: "Will my new truck tow it?"....YES, it will.

could we PLEASE get another forum specifically for electric vehicles??? 1. This vehicle is not in production yet. It's like commenting on the 2022 Chevy/Ram/Ford 3501. 2. Once it is, we can comment on its towing - I'm sure it'll do fine but I will not be surprised if range is decreased just like a regular gas/diesel truck.

Battery -Industry leading range for price -Lower battery pack cost per mile -Better redundancy and cell balance Motors -Superior magnetic conductivity in permanent magnet motor -There is no cooling jacket for the gearbox housing -Lighter, more efficient, and offers more horsepower Software -Only automaker on the market currently to truly offer full vehicle OTA updates -New vehicle features on a weekly and monthly basis -Autopilot nuralnet Self driving tech -Integrated thermal control system for low voltage semi-autonomous hardware -More dense circuit boards for faster processing -In-house autonomous chip Four reasons Tesla is still the king of EVs Tesla Model 3, safest car ever ! how's your Tesla stock doing? NHTSA has twice told tesla to stop saying it's the safest car ever. FTC is involved. Please stop saying it.

RE: Chevy, Ford... going into electric trucks.

Now back to Ford, GM, Rivian, Tesla... EV trucks. Pot meet Kettle, Kettle meet Pot. You sir wrote the manual on crystal ball reading, and are the creme de la creme of tarot card readers. I also have high praise for your BS'ing skills, which are second to none, and are exceptional when it comes to responding to facts with hearsay, blather, fantasy, and general BS. Calm down will yah, you might bust a vein or something. Can we go back to EV trucks now? You can. Some of us glance over occasionally, laugh at both sides, and move on. There really needs to be a place for EV discussion that isn't the Tow Vehicles forum.

RE: Chevy, Ford... going into electric trucks.

These threads about electric tow vehicles are like a revolving door similar to the payload threads. Once one is done, another takes its place within a few weeks started by the same people even though they are years if not decades away from being the majority of on road tow vehicles. Marty, can we just make an electric truck sticky thread similar to the diesel versus gas thread so we don't have to go through the same circle jerk over and over again? I'm not quite there yet, but discussing the same things over and over again does get old. I think we should have an EV section under General. They aren't ready to tow the same high numbers that most trucks can... even though yes, one Tesla towed a little popup across Canada.

RE: How to make photo digital

Looks like a spam post to me - pretty obvious with the link included - which brings of the point of how a new member can post links?. I can't remember the last time I took a picture with a film camera... or how you got the film, that's been very hard to find for a few years! ditto on the spam, something doesn't flow right "I clicked a lot of pictures"

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

this is interesting, didn't realize this impacted more than just tesla, but any car with a factory fob. tesla goes bye-bye from driveway in UK My wife's Jeep goes in the locked garage. My truck has no fob and is not in danger of being stolen like Tesla's in Europe appear to be.

*cough* and quick let's get back on topic ;) I don't see Jay Leno's prediction happening in my lifetime. But I'm thinking he may be right. It will just take a bit longer.

Uptick in spam posts, and the notify moderator just gives an error. I notified moderator of that spam "Binance Exchange" post. Worked for me.

RE: So is around 5% right?

Well since we did 15 years and got 4.3%, I would assume a 20 year loan would be slightly lower, maybe 4%. But I'm guessing. As soon as the credit union was the lowest, we went with them. I don't recall all the banks we contacted or their rates.

RE: So is around 5% right?

for what? RV? Home? home loan 3.9% from our credit union. 4.3 % from a bank, varies by location a bit I'm guessing. HELOC 4.75% up to 75k. We financed our park model at 4.3% 15 year loan IIRC.

RE: Tesla pick up in 4th quarter 2019

I’m sure a booster with my Tesla stocks, my daughter’s Model X and my plan to buy their pick up. But let me put a positive spin. Thank you for warning us about the pitfalls and issues of Tesla cars and that nut case genius Elon Musk. With this guy leading the pack ... yes Tesla has accomplished a LOT. Give him credit for that. Electric cars are still less than 3% of worldwide sales... But stuff like this just makes shareholders wonder. click And even though I'm not one for dwelling too much on the past, let's recall his twitter war with that guy who saved a kid from a cave (Elon calling him a pedo). Elon's tweeting earned him a lawsuit that is ongoing. These are the kinds of things that "typical" CEO's don't do. Elon is not a typical CEO. And yes, some of the things he said can be easily construed as lies. (you'll note I don't actually CALL them lies, this guy has a record of suing people who disagree with him). Aside from all that - Tesla's quality is improving. It's just a shame the car company itself gets a different image.

RE: Tesla pick up in 4th quarter 2019

Elon Musk says it will priced $49,000 or lower and has towing capability like an F150. Good news with the price of gas. Remember when Elon promised the unicorn Tesla for $35k? How long did it take for him to deliver? over a year later, and now you still can't order one unless it's from a dealer - yeah. Remember all those dealers he cut? Promises the sky, and rarely delivers EXACTLY what he promises. He even acknowledged they couldn't build the 35k model 3 without taking a loss, something more than a few people in the industry told him. Towing - I don't doubt the towing capacity. Electric makes a lot of torque. but eats a lot of juice. Let's see how well it holds up for range when towing even 5,000 pounds.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

The thread is about the Semi not your side business as a bookie. oh HAHAHAHAHA really... it WAS about the semi. Then the roadster. Then financials. Now I have no clue what it's about. It's a catchall for anything EV related. But I'd hate to see it closed. It's both entertainment and informational in a way. Again, kind of off topic - Check out Rich Rebuild's latest video about how to make an electric car out of a ICE car. It's eye-opening about the horrendous costs of building an EV. click
