RE: boondockerswelcome

We are new fulltimers (3 months) and have already used BW 5 times. They have merged with Harvest Hosts but pledge to keep separate. Our experience has been nothing but positive. As is the norm in the RV community, the people (hosts) have been amazing. More than helpful, anxious to provide a positive experience. So far, we prefer BW to HH due to the availability of more than one night (sometimes up to 5). Also, more and more BW have some type of hookups. Some have 50amp, some even have sewer hookups. We do our best to adhere to the '3' rule. No more than 300 miles, and/or done by 3pm. So, when traveling from Washington to Wisconsin at the end of August, we will take our time, staying in various BW for a night or two (or more) along the way.

RE: Cripple creek/Pikes Peak

I lived in Woodland Park for 30 years, and worked in Cripple Creek for most of the time. Just left in April for our full time adventure. Couple thoughts: If you're concerned about altitude (Cripple Creek is 9,500), consider Woodland Park (8,500) or Colorado Springs (6,000). Royal Gorge in Canon City is spectacular. Lunch/Dinner train or just visit. New Olympic museum in Colorado Springs is spectacular. Air Force Academy is something to see. Under the radar: Paint Mines (google it), about 30 min west of Colorado Springs. Victor Gold Mining tour, right next to Cripple Creek. Florissant Fossil beds. Have fun. It's beautiful!

RE: Pros and Cons of Tankless water heaters in RV

as usual, for most any topic, YMMV We are new full timers. 41' Alpine. Mostly hooked up in our first 3 months. We love our Suburban tankless. My experience with other Class A (three of them in the 2000s) was that having limited hot water via a tank was inconvenient. We are fortunate to have a large shower in our 3712KB, and tankless allows a nice long shower, followed by DW's long hot shower. Again.... YMMV

RE: Electric bikes !!

There is info online, some of it vague... But the consensus seems to be that Class 2 ebikes (pedal assist, throttle, 20mph max) are considered as normal bicycles. However, there are 5 states that consider any ebike as a motor vehicles. My bike (Lectric) comes software limited to 20mph for this reason. With some software manipulation, top speed changes to 28mph.

RE: Electric bikes !!

We'll throw out hat in the ring for the Letric bikes. Picked ours up at the factory in Phoenix. XP for me and step-thru for DW. We're just now adding a better seat, different handlebars, etc. We're currently in Long Beach, WA which allows bikes and vehicles on the beach. So much fun!

Latch-It RV Door Lock

Received a Latch-It RV Door Lock from my daughter for Father's Day. Keypad with two FOBs. During a weekend in Pismo with them in their 12 year old trailer I helped install one for them. It finally went okay, but certainly some modification to striker plates and door cutouts. However, for my install (21 Alpine FW), it was a 15 minute simple task. Even for my average skills. Looks great, works perfectly, extremely happy with this upgrade. Thought I'd share....

RE: Grants Pass, OR (exceptional experiences)

Thanks for the recommendation but we're already up in Neskowin (our home park).

RE: Grants Pass, OR (exceptional experiences)

Leveling jacks. We're new at this, and I'm amazed how low the middle ones are. Not much clearance. Of course, I could be more careful driving thru parking lots.... just saying...

Grants Pass, OR (exceptional experiences)

We stayed in Grants Pass for three nights, and and had three very positive interactions. Les Schwab Tires repaired our flat (we had put the spare on the previous week), remounted, and replaced the spare underneath the coach. Even though we did not purchase the tires with them, they would not accept any payment. Even tried to leave cash for the guys, but no. Cypress Grove in Gold Hill (15 minutes south of Grants Pass), is a lovely campground. But more importantly, the manager Clyde, went out of his way to help us with maintenance issues we were having. Really a good samaritan. Darren at (Grainger Movile RV, also in Gold Hill), truly was a godsend. We had a bent landing jack, and any dealer was months out on appointments. Even Darren quoted a week or so, but since we needed to leave after two days, he managed to work us in, and working an evening, got the job done. And probably for less than half what a dealer may have charged. We are new full timers for a month now, working through the 'adventure', and these interactions certainly remind me that there are still people and businesses that go above and beyond.

RE: Washington State Campgrounds

Thanks for the park suggestions. Ideally, would like FHU, and to be settled for a month or so. A friend suggested Cranberry RV Park in Long Beach, and that's the only way we found our June stay.

RE: Washington State Campgrounds

I am completely flexible. 1st summer full-timing, we're in Long Beach, WA for June and eventually heading to Wyoming. Almost anywhere that might have reasonable monthly rates (I know how difficult that is).

Washington State Campgrounds

We're trying to find an extended stay (month or two) campground in Washington state. We are set for June in the southwest, but would like stay thru July or August somewhere else before heading to Montana and Wyoming. I know it's a broad topic, but checking if anybody has some favorites. Thanks!

RE: Firman Generator

Either you're not a Costco member or you've never returned anything. In my experience, Costco always refunds the purchase price. Your statement "Lifetime warranty only works if there is a replacement at the store" is incorrect. My generators will be open and running long before I leave.

RE: Firman Generator

I have two still in the box sitting in the garage. Leaving on our full time adventure May 1. Costco provides lifetime returns on everything they sell, except for electronics (TV's, laptops, etc). Per Costco, generators do not count as electronics. Gotta love Costco!
