RE: Alternate keyboard for IiPone

I went from iphone 6+ to iphone 11 pro. Didn't get the pro max which would have had the same size keyboard as the 6+. I find the just slightly smaller keyboard is a pita. Google has an app that has different keyboards available. The one I chose has just slightly larger keyboard. Helps a little. Maybe there is another keyboard available you prefer.

Solar Panel 12V Design and Safety Considerations

Found this forum a while back. Lots of good information if one is willing to do some ciphering. Here is a link that is kind of introductory and gives some general info. Enjoy.

RE: trailer wax

Most of the stuff mentioned is petroleum based or has some petroleum in it. Could be hard on stickers or anything else not friendly to petroleum products, i.e. sealants. For fiberglass, boat people have a pretty good selection. I use McLube Hullkote. Citrus based and easy wipe on, wipe off. It is slick so be careful working around on top. Expensive but good and fast. I use spray bottle of water on surface to thin it out some. One bottle will do two applications on a slide in truck camper easily, maybe three.

RE: Pick up truck remembrance !

16.5 split rims. nonsynchronized transmission gears. You could stand on the hood or cab. AM radios. Really miss the 'wings'.

RE: WIX oil filter for Onan genny?

And it is funny lawnmowers will run years and years and years with (maybe) yearly oil changes with no filter. Go figure.

RE: Ceramic Heater Safety

I live in a small place without conventional central heating. I've tried a few space heaters. The oil filled radiator looking things take a lot of electric to run, they crack and creak as they heat up, but they work. Lately i've been using a quarts tube unit from lifesmart. It is the cats meow. It has a fan that is pretty quiet with different speeds and the quarts tubes last a long time. It has an eco mode that is set on 68 that I am using, depending on the temperature drop determines how many tubes light up and how fast the fan runs. Search at home depot or other stores will find them. Mine looks like a black box about 1.5' square and sits on the floor. It won't tip over and nothing gets hot that you can touch. Using these has been the comfortablist of any setup I have been using and the electric bill has so far been the cheapest. They are rated to 1500 watts when all the tubes are lit and fan on high but eco mode it might not use all the rated wattage. Some of them have a filter on the back. This would be my choice to keep dust off the tubes.

RE: bigfoot and northern lite details on their construction

Speaking of outside shower doors, I noticed on my new BF 10.4, the stove exhaust has no 'flap' under the outer cover. From the mesh screen next to the fan through the exhaust ducting is a clear shot.

RE: Chevy 6.0

I’ve pulled a gooseneck trailer loaded with a ford diesel van ambulance probably weighing 12k #s combined at 70 mph like it was nothing. This was a srw truck with 4.10 gear. The cutaways are derated to 320 hp but should still handle it well.

RE: ATC 5th Wheel MSRP vs Purchase Price

Been looking at those also. Looked at a bumper pull owned locally and they look to be pretty nice. Said he dealt with the dealer in Des Moines and was good to work with, see you are out west so that may be far. Hope you get a good deal, I'd like to have a good deal:).

RE: How to deal with grease on ball of receiver

Small vegetable can over the top, or stuff a coffee cup on it. Can fits over a 5th wheel ball real nice also.

RE: The verdict is in! DRW vs SRW....real world

The payload may be up there for a DRW, but inside the glove box is going to be a lower number for slide in truck camper. I looked at a GMC diesel DRW, might have been CC, and the slide in camper recommendation was around 3200#. I'm pretty sure their engineers take into account weight transfer and maybe other factors.

RE: GM pickup tailgate opening too narrow

A new GM and Bigfoot 10.4 has about 3/4" each side clearance:).

RE: Dexter Disc Bleeder Screws

I use the Earl's speed bleeders on a couple race cars. Next to sliced bread and butter they are the best thing to come along. There are different threads available so make sure to get the right ones. They do come with a thread sealer on them and over the years screwing in and out may wear this down enough to let air bypass when bleeding, but that time hasn't come yet. Also there is a special wrench to fit these, looks almost like a 6 pt box end wrench but it is cut out to slip over the tube or whatever. Like a flair wrench. Suggest using one of these. And when you close it, work it back and forth to seat the inner flange, shouldn't take much really to close it. Don't give it one big turn when you close it. Burnish it in.

RE: The verdict is in! DRW vs SRW....real world

Don't be afraid to run the 80 psi on the back. I'd bet the weight transition when you make turns puts quite a load on the outside tires. Not all trucks sit in the driveway or on the scales.

RE: How do you guys carry bicycles inside?

Look at Feedback sports website, they have some options. I use the RAKK for a couple bikes.

RE: Truck camper with trailer length

Some good advice everywhere. Thanks! You don’t want a narrower trailer. Its a real pain to back up a trailer you can’t see when it’s going straight. This brings up a good point, been there done that. Also if your mirrors can't extend out to see the sides of the trailer you are only looking at the front, hard to tell when the turn starts if you are trying for the straight back.

Cool. How is the maneuvering at the filling stations or campgrounds?
