RE: Hauling bicycles

We use this bike cover for our two electric bikes and then cover that with this cargo net to prevent any flapping.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard posted on FB that the latest stroke may cost him his sight in the one sighted eye he has left. Very concerning. Suggest even if Richard can no longer post, we do not let the Old Fella thread die. Totally agree. I have looked for Richard's FB page but am unable find the right one..... As for us, we are taking new truck and trailer on a trip up to the Mark Twain Natl Forest (near St Louis in about 10 days. 800 miles - friends/former neighbours in Colorado are bringing three 5ers up to meet us (about 800 for them too! Really looking forward to it. Wanderlost - if I cannot get on Richard's FB page can you please give him our best. We met at the OF Rally in Colorado a few years ago.

RE: Continental Trailer Tires

Carlisle Radial Trail HD (ST225-75R-15E on mine) are rated for 81 mph. Not that I'd ever tow that fast!!

RE: US 36 in Colorado

If you stay on I-25 you won't get to Estes Park. He means 36 from Denver to Lyons v I-25 to Loveland and then to Lyons. (but I'm sure you knew that.........) As a prior 30 year resident of Denver area do the I-25 to Loveland route if you want quicker, or 36 if you want slower, more hilly and much prettier. Having done both, towing a 28ft 5er, I actually prefer the 36 route. :)

RE: Yellowstone Next Week - Freezing Temps Concern

Forecasted low temps look to be around 30-35. Am I worrying too much? Yes. :)

RE: 50 amp in a 30

Our TT ran on 30 amp and we used our AC and electric water heater. We ran everything electric. We would turn off the AC when using the microwave. Now we have a 2016 FW that runs on 50 amp. When 30 amp is all that is available, we only run one AC, the residential fridge and the electric water heater. I don’t know why people are saying don’t run the electric water heater. I have not seen anything in the owner’s manual of either RV I have owned that says you can’t use the electric water heater when on 30 amp shore power. Check your manual to see if your unit has this restriction. Exactly the same here. I wonder if some folks who have 50 amp units have ever owned a 30 amp unit. When we had our 30amp 5er we thought that folks only had 50 amps so they could have a 2nd a/c. Now we have a 50amp 5er with 2 a/cs we still think the same!!

RE: 5th wheel tailgate

I have been happy with Custom Flow I had a Custom Flow on the 2001 Ram just as strong as the OEM. With the 2016 Ram I don’t want to loose the backup camera. Same here - loved my Custom Flow on my 2004 RAM, but with my 2019 RAM I like the backup camera too much! :)

RE: DVD and Blu Ray being discontinued?

When we go camping I download whatever we want to watch from Prime or Netflix onto my iPhone. For Prime you can keep a program at least 72 hours after you have started watching it, but you can keep them up to 30 days if you haven't watched them yet. I bought an adapter for the iPhone that has an HDMI cable socket. iPhone adaptor. There are cheaper ones on Amazon but a lot of reviews say they don't work. This one is from Apple and works fine for me. You start watching the downloaded/saved program on the phone and it can be watched on the TV once the HDMI is selected. I found that if you try to start watching with the cable already connected it gives an error message, but if you start it on the phone and then plug in the cable it works great! The only limitation is how much space you have available on your phone.

RE: Lights on a bicycle carrier

So have any of you folks that carry bicycles installed a set of lights on the outside ends of the bike rack? I installed these on my Thule rack. They work perfectly. Had to do a bit of work extending the wires to reach the trailer plug, but they are just great. Trailer Light Bars

RE: Lost Power Notifications

Has anyone found a way to receive notifications of power loss in the coach when you are away from the unit? Look at MARCell units. They run off wireless. Cost about $170 then about $90 a year with AT&T or Verizon. If the power goes out, or temps go out of set range, you get a text and/or e-mail. Great for RV owners with pets. MARCell

RE: Emerald Coast Florida, campground advice

Looks like a nice place - however, on their website it states: "guests arriving with travel trailers or 5th wheelers cannot be accommodated and will be turned away." True? That actually is not true - I just took something to my 5er in storage and drove through Emerald Coast RV Beach resort, to check it out, and it 75% 5ers and TTs. Obviously if you book with them it would be best to double check, but from what I saw you would be fine. It is well laid out and all concrete pads. Very nice, but about a mile from the beach We think Pine Glen here in Panama City Beach is one of the nicest here, although it is about 3/4 of a mile from the beach and has gravel lots. Closer to the beach is Raccoon River. More downscale but not too bad, nonetheless. Panama City Beach RV Resort is not too far from St Andrews State Park (which also has a campground) and is a short walk to the beach. Topsail is always booked about a year in advance. We drove around there for a look once - very nice, but a year ahead is too long for us! As to the poster who said we are 'sort of on the Panhandle' - sheesh! We are central Panhandle and proud of it, especially after we rebuilt after Hurricane Michael!

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard, So sorry that you are really not doing so well. I hope that the trips in your daughter's RV will enable you to get out and get a look at life again. You have such strong faith, so please do no let this get you down to the point of despair. Think positive and be strong. Love you back Richard! Martyn and Liane

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Had both of our shots and didn't get any side effects at all. After springing for a new Cougar 5er last September we went out on Friday and traded our trusty 17 year old Ram 2500 for a 2019 RAM 2500 Bighorn. Waiting on getting spray in bed liner and hitch before setting out on our next trip at the end of April. :)

RE: Honda EU2000i carburetor rebuild kit

I have a 2000i that is setup for sea level. I have been at over 10,000' elevation and the generator will still power the A/C unit. Ditto. I have two 2000I. I lived for 30 years in the Denver area at a little over 5,600 ft. Both generators have standard jets. When I bought them I took them to the dealer to get re-jetted and he told me not to bother. I ran them at elevations up to 12,000 ft and never had a problem. Since retiring to Florida I let them stand too long with old gas in and the carbs needed doing. Cleaned them both out in a day and got rid of gunk and water. Both run like new again. Not bad for 16 year old units.

Liane and I got our first dose two days ago. Took forever to get through on the website, but I guess we lucked out! :B
