RE: 5th Wheel Bike carrier

No matter what kind of bike carrier you use make sure it is mounted tight (no wiggle or slop) in the receiver tube. Top bolt holds Thule 2 bike carrier solid in reciever. C.B. I have the same Thule unit. I have used it on the back of two different 5ers for 12 years and it has proved to be flawless. I carry two Pedego Electric bikes and have done over 10,000 miles with no issues. As previous poster says the most important thing is to make sure all is tight where the rack enters the receiver. I use one of these: Hitch Clamp In addition the Thule rack comes with a hitch pin that tightens up the sideways movement, as the pin threads into a threaded socket on one side.

RE: Custer State Park Sylvan lake 32’ tt

I wouldn't stay there with a trailer that long. Try Rafter J. It is great.

RE: Damaged 5er hitch by backing too hard

I have a Demco Autoslider which is very picky about hitch height. Numerous times I was either too high or too low and the pin would catch and tilt the head up or down. I experimented to find the exact height that was correct, when the bed of the truck was just under the 5er. I then cut a piece of 3/4 dowel to the distance between the truck bed rail and the underside of the 5er overhang. Now I simply back in and then adjust the gap to fit the dowel. Hitches right up perfectly every time. :)

RE: Question about unit stabilization

Yes I have landing gear and 4 jacks. Two each in front and behind the axles. That's all it currently has and I'm looking for some extra stabilization. What are "strong arms"? These: J T Strongarms Had them on my last 5th wheel. Made it rock solid.

RE: Replacing New Trailer King RST+ : Only Option Is Carlisle??

I switched out my Trailer Kings for Carlisles. It was a good decision. Great tires.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I just heard from Sue. Richard had a stoke September 30th. He has been getting worse since then. He is now in Hospice care. He is not aware of anything at all. So sorry to hear this. I've been wondering what has been going on with Richard and had a bad feeling about it. Prayers are going his way.

RE: remote temperature monitoring

We use Waggle pet monitor. You can set temp and humidity ranges and it will check every 10 minutes. Notifies you instantly if settings go out of range, by text and/or e-mail. It will also notify you if RV power goes out and/or comes on. As long as you can get cell service at the RV it works great. I noted that the battery lasts about a week (checked while in storage) and charges back up again pretty quickly. I turn off notifications when it is storage or we are on the road! Can't recommend this enough.

RE: Tires...I know, tired subject

Go with the Carlisle HD tire and update to an E rated if available. They are doing well for many of us. You don't need to go to 16" tires IMO. Ditto - that's what I did.

RE: Denver area in Winter??

Lived in Denver area for 30 years. Much of the advice above is good. I would not do it. As suggested, board dogs and get hotel.

RE: 5th wheel Hitch recommendations

I have RAM 2500 Short bed and installed a DEMCO 18K Autoslider. Never have to worry about hitting the cab with the 5er. :)

RE: Towing My Boat Behind My Fiver'

Lawyers got rich on this one!! I doubt it, as it is legal in Colorado. I towed like this for years. Even had a State Patrol officer stop and help me with a tire change on I-225.

RE: Propane tank level monitor

I just installed Mopeka tank sensors on my tanks. Seem to work very well. Here it is on Amazon. I bought two. You can label them in the app so you know which side they are on if you have two tanks.
