RE: Generator at High Altitude

I had a Champion 3100 that I ran in CO at around 10,000'. It did just fine charging batteries, it even ran my friends Nuwave oven without issue. It ran on whatever jets were put in it from the factory. Same here, do they jet them differently when being sold above 5,000 ft?

RE: 2020 vs '17-'19 Ford 6.7

4xford.... you just sunk your own battleship. Your backing skills are exemplary, but not your math. If I’d claimed I could average $2k/year depreciation by trading up, I wouldn’t have written a paragraph admitting I’d be $7k a year into it! I don’t think he said anything about depreciation per se, he’s just comparing cash outlay. 4x4ord-If I’m following your numbers you were really only $3k (63k v 60k) worse off over the ten-year period, correct?

RE: Tv while traveling

Pay for TV.. Why would I do that???? I’m open to suggestions, what’s your free alternative?

RE: Tv while traveling

Hulu yes Hulu plus live tv no ... you have to be on the home network. I tried it with my sister-in-law’s used there login and all was fine until I left their WiFi Roku and Fire don’t work. I can log in on the phone and get locals where I am but I have to use the mobile device. They won’t give an account to someone with just a mobile cellular account. Again that’s the “live tv “ cable channels and locals . That’s what I found but I’d love to find different. I use YouTube TV for my live tv and haven’t encountered issues watching tv on the road. Interesting that Hulu Live would restrict you.

RE: Tv while traveling

Yes, we use Roku boxes hooked to tv and can get to most streaming apps including Hulu. Just need decent WiFi connection.

RE: I-70 Colorado in April

Yeah I wouldn’t change your plans. There are other ways around I70 to Moab if snow comes.

RE: RV lot OWNERSHIP - deeded lot ownership, live year round

Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort is in SC and is what you describe. Right on the lake, but only allows Class As.

RE: 2020 Super Duty Media Launch

Heres' Big Truck Big RV and a couple of the Super Duty engineers pulling a fifth wheel. Truck has a 4,189 Payload capacity. Camper weighs ~12k lbs. Enjoy.... Link You could have made that video 5 years ago as I pull more than that with a 2015 F350 all over the west coast mountains. I didn’t see anything new in that video, so what’s the big deal?

RE: Absolute positively the worst road ever

104 isn't the "real" mountains in NM. Try US-64 from Taos through Angle Fire and Eagle Nest heading to Raton towing. These roads are a challenge, but I'll take them any day over the interstates in Louisiana. Rob x2, we ended up recently driving this west bound late at night pulling the rig, luckily we were stopping in Angel Fire. Dodging the deer might have been the worst part though! We drove the rest to Taos the next day in daylight thankfully without the rig.

RE: Another Tesla problem

Other thing to consider. I did a job for a customer with a tesla and he told me he rarely, rarely ever uses his brake pedal. He said the gas pedal works if push it you go, and if you let off of it the car will stop. He said it took getting used to at first but now he barely needs the brake pedal. Could be instance in OP's link where the driver was doing that and in a panic situation stomped on the gas pedal instead of the brake because they were so used to never using the brake. You may be on to something. Changing basic driver controls should be approached with caution and only with significant study. Muscle memory is tough to reprogram, especially under a stressful situation where humans go back to basics. The risk IME is going back to ICE and not having these features and forgetting to hold the brake ( or the many other auto features). But you still use the brake pedal in EVs during an emergency, nothing has changed. Anyone have one pedal driving on their tractors, same concept.

RE: Another Tesla problem

The nice thing is IF they determine there’s an issue, they’ll push out a free OTA update and the car will be fixed while you’re sleeping. I wish my RV had that capability.

RE: ONAN 5500 @ high elevations

What Ed said X2. I wouldn’t worry, not like you’re running the AC units. I don’t have issues running my 3k gen for microwave, etc. at that altitude. Mr Wizard is right, it can get cold that time of year but run your furnace and you’ll be fine. Mr Wizard-some of us are gluttons for punishment and spend the winter at 9k ft just to ski :).

RE: Cash Vs. Finance

As far as a prepayment penalty, I would not expect (or accept) one unless there are strings attached with a reduced interest rate and then pretty minimal months to wait and payoff. As others have mentioned, find a reputable dealer and focus on the PDI. Also if you have a trust and want the Rv named under the trust, that gets tricky sometimes with financing, so extra steps to take afterwards. Re: rule of 78 mentioned previously, don’t believe you’d run into that on an RV loan as they are typically 10-15 years and should be simple interest loans.

RE: Ceramic Heater Safety

Lwiddie Please explained your comment “ Electric heaters are nice except you need to run the RV's propane heater to keep the tanks from freezing if it gets really cold.“ The freezing temp of Propane is a minus 306 degrees F! The holding tanks/water supply, not the propane tanks.

RE: Visiting Family in Memphis, need safe rv park

Look south across the border. We’ve stayed at EZ Daze.

The Walmart back in Frisco might be an option too.

OP here...I am referring to the radiator fan.

Fan motor issues

I have a 2015 F350 and the fan motor keeps going out. Once at 30k miles and now at 40k miles. Ford says it's not uncommon. Anyone else have this issue? Should I look at aftermarket fan motor that's more robust? I predominantly use truck to tow 5er and in mtns.

RE: Teton Pass Route 22

I agree, it's not that big of a deal, but many make it out to be. What's more fun is when you aren't hooked up and can let the diesel do it's thing up the steep grade without a sweat.

RE: How many people have cameras on trailer

I have one that came with the 5er but don't use it. If the screen was larger, visual quality as good as the BU camera on the truck and it was integrated into the truck screens, I'd be more apt to use it.
