We generally had to defrost every few months during full time use.

RE: Moving to a 5th Wheel

You can get a 1 Ton (350/3500 series) SRW Short Bed and be the same size as a 3/4 Ton, but would give you more cargo weight capacity if you ever went heavier/larger without buying another truck.

RE: Level

I have a pair of those little Eagle stick on levels, one on the road side front corner and the second just around the corner on the front. I just use them to verify that my auto level zero point hasn't changed.

RE: Moving to a 5th Wheel

I'll add this: We traveled cross country and up to Alaska with good friends. Them with their 40' DP and Toad and us with our 40' Fifth wheel and Diesel Dually. We would pull into CGs together and be done setting up about the same time. They had to un-hook their toad while we un-hooked the Truck. We both had Auto Leveling and slide outs and both had to manually hookup the same utilities. Actually when moving we could be ready quicker as it was quicker to connect the truck than it was for them to connect their toad. Now is you don't have auto leveling on your 5er, it's an entirely different ball game.

RE: Plastic Dust Caps

There was a series of those caps being defective. I had all four of mine break and MORryde sent me clear replacements. Haven't had a broken one since.

RE: Domestic portable fridge/freezer

They come in some Class A's normally carried in the storage compartment on a slide out tray. I have a MORryde tray mounted in our basement where ours lives, just pull out the tray to get into the freezer. The cost probably stops lots of folks unless they're Full or Long term travelers and want/need the additional freezer/fridge space.

RE: Slow leak

Do you or someone near you have a Kiddy pool that you could put the tire/wheel into?? I had a slow leak in a brand new unit and couldn't find it, took it to a tire shop and they put it in their dunk tank and found a pin hole in the Rim it's self. I'll add this to my above post. In addition to that pin hole in the rim when brand new, I had a second wheel develop a slow leak, it too turned out to be a pin hole in the rim, but took three years before it showed up.

RE: Mini-AC

It's called a Swamp Cooler, but on a small portable size, been around for years.

RE: Batteries not holding charge ???

You don't happen to have a storage bay light that got on by mistake, or something that's drawing power?

RE: Continental Trailer Tires

Maybe, but it looks like their price is right up there with the GY G114s

RE: Domestic portable fridge/freezer

We have one in the basement of our Fifthwheel and use it as a second freezer, have a residential three door fridge with bottom freezer. Thought the fridge freezer would be enough space, but since we're "Most Timers" approx 10 months in the RV wanted more freezer space. Was going to run the Dometic freezer on 12 VDC while traveling, bet decided to keep it on 120VAC and added an outlet off our Inverter. Been doing this now for over five years and not issues.

RE: Blocking EV chargers?

I guess we travel in out of the way places because I've yet to see a Station that has EV Charging Stations, and we've been over most of the States East of the Mississippi.

RE: Auxiliary fuel tank

Word of caution for newer GM owners and gravity feed system. You will need something to clear codes, because the newer GMs will set a pending code and your fuel guage will drop to empty if you travel approx 100 miles and the computer does detect any drop in fuel level. If the pending code is not cleared by the end of the next 100 miles it will set a Check Engine code.

RE: lippert auto level will not come on?

Don't know about Grand Design, but on our Redwood there was an inline fuse to the control panel that was sort of buried in the wiring harness next to the pump.

RE: Cats in a TT

We've been traveling with Cats for going on 20 years. When we had a TT and standard cab truck, we had a cap on the truck and installed a large cage right behind the cab so we could open the pass thru windows and talk to them. With fifthwheels, we've had an extended cab and now crew cab. Cage or carrier behind front seat, would never leave them in the trailer.

RE: LP or electric on a meter

I have twin 40 Lb Tanks and those things are heavy when filled. I'll use electric every chance I get to avoid having to refill those beasts.
