RE: F450 vs F350 SRW payload

Have a question: If both the 350 and 450 have the same GVWR of 14000 Lbs and the 450 is a heavier truck, don't know by how much, but doesn't it stand to reason that the 350 can carry more pin weight, thus a bigger Fifthwheel??

RE: potty without the rv

When we were pulling a Pop-up we always had a Cap on out Truck with a Port-a-Potty. Got a lot of use. Once we moved up to a TT we just used the facilities with-in.

RE: Flying J and Pilot moving toward B20 diesel?

Actually straight Diesel is getting harder and harder to find. Stations can sell up to 5% Bio and don't have to have a label on the pump. So while you may think you're getting Grade A #2 Diesel you may well be getting 5% Bio.

RE: Heated Mattress Pad

We've been using a heated mattress pad on our Sleep Number for the past 10 years.

RE: California Non-commercial class A license ***New question***

In our Home State of New York any combo over 26K requires an "R" endorsement, but I don't know a single friend who has it an just about all are over that mark.

RE: Trailer upgrade

I agree with Lady RVer, if you go with the Montana and have even the slightest of issues you will hear about it from the DW.

RE: Questions about pulling a fifth-wheel with a half ton TV

D. Steiner, I agree. Watched some folks pull out from the CG we're at with a Cadillac Escalade EXT Pickup. Fairly large TT, no Equalizer Bars or Sway Control, rear bumper of TV almost dragging the ground and headlights pointed at the stars. Would not want to be anywhere near that on the highway.

RE: Can't find black and grey tanks.

Is it possible the unit was setup on a seasonal site and the previous owner was plumbed directly and removed the holding tanks??

RE: ST Tires ???

I have seen Sailuns from three different Countries: China, VietNam, and Thailand. I had planned to replace my G-114 with the same come this spring, but the blow out moved that schedule up, and with the issues we had with the rims and the deal that was offered on the Sailuns with rims, just couldn't pass up the deal.

RE: ST Tires ???

cummins2014: Yes it would have been on both the Montana and Redwood Forums. Part of the reason for the switch: We had two Rim failures, I.E. pin hole in the casting, one which didn't show up for 3 years, so we had no faith in the wheels them selves. A new Distributor in Elkhart was offering an H rated 17.5 Sailun on a new rim, mounted, balanced, and delivered to the Campground for less than the cost of just a GY G-114 and with all the good reports I thought I'ld take a gamble.

RE: ST Tires ???

I might well be the one mentioned a few post back about a blown G-114, it was actually 4 1/2 years old with approx 40K miles on it. Were doing 65 on the Ohio Turnpike, all tires running within a couple of degrees of each other and also within a couple of pounds. Just suddenly "Boom" a pieces of rubber flying. Only took out the plastic fender skirt which I got replaced for free at the Rally we were headed to. Tire was sent to GY, who upon checking sent a check for a replacement. Mean time we installed all new Sailun H rated tires and new wheels.

RE: ST Tires ???

That looks like one of the Bolts that goes up through the Slide Out Frame into the Silde Side Wall.

RE: Experience towing w/ 2WD F250, 2500 or other 3/4 ton

I've used 4 wheel drive more times getting into a tight camping site than I have for getting unstuck. 4 wheel low will get you into almost any site at an idle, nice an slow with full control.

RE: What Size RV is Right for Full-Timing

Our 1st fifth wheel was our 2955RL Monty, thought it was perfect, only 2 slides and could be used with the slides in if needed. First Winter Snowbirding we found a problem with lack of sufficient counter space for preparing meals. So we went bigger with three slides and much more counter space.

RE: anyone else had this happen to them

Quick question: Was it a carbon monoxide detector or the propane gas detector? Either way a problem, maybe the wind was blowing the flame out allowing gas to flow.

RE: Let's talk generators - again.

I wonder if using Non-Ethanol fuel would help. I try to use only non-ethanol fuel in my lawn mowers, chain saws, weed wackers etc. Had to replace a fuel line in a chain saw because of the ethanol.

RE: Service, landing gear down, or while still hooked to truck?

I feel better with the RV connected to the TV while servicing the suspension. While not likely there is always the possibility of the landing gear failing, no chance of the TV failing.

RE: Honda 3000eu issue using a bonding plug

OK, let me understand: The Generator was running and then you plugged in your RV using the Neutral/Ground bonded plug? If that is correct, are you sure there wasn't something on in the RV that caused a surge of current when the plug made contact with the Generator outlet?

RE: Looking to upgrade to a fifth wheel.

Your Wife, Kids, and Dogs aren't going Camping with you?? Since you're only adding your weight.

RE: Let's talk generators - again.

Not really. Per the Onan specs at full load the Propane drinks 1.1 gal per hour, while a gas powered of the same model drinks .9 gal of gas per hour. We don't have to carry Gasoline and find a place for the Gas Tank, and don't plan to run ours for extended periods, like just recently we've had several power failures lasting several hours. Go to the RV and make supper running the Genny.
