RE: Do you run house AC while on the road

Depends. If there's no one in the rear area and the temps are staying comfortable then we don't. I leave the middle door closed and only run the front zone when we travel though. Our class A has an auxiliary heater that is a huge heater coil in the bedroom area with a fan. When we travelled in the spring overnight we ended up learning what that switch does. Kept the coach warm without running the generator.

RE: 2021 Ford F53 Chassis v8 engine

Not that I'd trade in a 3 YO motorhome for the latest and greatest new option anyway, but as an engineer I prefer a system that's been put through the tests of time. The V10 in my BayStar 3414 (just like the video!) does a great job. took it to Ohio from Maryland, so had some nice mountains to clear and it did just fine. As far as off the line acceleration...yeah, the 7.3 seems a bit faster, but as long as I can get onto the interstate and merge into traffic without plunging the right lane to any great degree, it works just fine. The 7.3 will either succeed or fail over the next few years and become the new normal. I hope Ford succeeds with it like they did with that V10. Great design. I had a 5.4 V8 Expedition (just add 2 cylinders and it's the same engine) and that engine pulled my trailer I owned very well and never had an issue. So I knew what kind of engine to expect in the MH.

RE: Do you let you kids drive your motorhome

No. My son isn't old enough yet, but even still I'd have to be mighty confident in his driving skills and understanding of the coach before I'd even consider it. I had my DW do some driving in a park-n-ride to let her get acclimated to how the coach feels. She didn't understand the wide turns that you have to do with the longer wheelbase compared to a car. I had to explain point of pivot to her. She didn't quite understand what I meant. (keep meaning to do a quick drawn demonstration). Then I reminded her of our trip to Niagara Falls where we had to drive through a small PA town on the tiny streets to go through a detour. That kind of got her in the right mindset. For me it is the "if something happens it's my responsibility" mostly. I don't like the way my DW drives her truck and she has poor binocular vision. So just the driving style is enough for me to give a NO to pretty much anyone. It's an investment, but unlike your most expensive investment, this one has wheels and can in a moment of careless operation kill or injure dozens of people. That worry alone should get you to think twice. And to those of you who do loan them out. I understand and do not question your judgement. We're all different and that's fine.

RE: Antifreeze no longer pink

I'll go get new I think. Can't explain why the color change.

Antifreeze no longer pink

I'm about to winterize my rig. I go to two of the gallons of antifreeze I've had since last last year. Unopened, but the pink colour is gone. Is this stuff still okay to use?
