RE: Love my Mr Heater Hunting Buddy

Plenty of Youtube videos on whether they are safe. I have zero worries... I dont sleep in freezing temps at home so why should I have to in my trailer? No fun getting up to piss in freezing temps

RE: Love my Mr Heater Hunting Buddy

Im running mine off a 20lb propane tank and 10ft Mr Hearter hose I run through a cracked window. Not a fan of those 1lb cylinders

Love my Mr Heater Hunting Buddy

Have always hated the built-in furnace in my 5th wheel. Noisy as hell, sucks propane and drains the battery overnight. I recently slept a couple nights in cold weather with the Hunting buddy and couldnt be happier. Kept the trailer a nice 65* while on low, makes no noise, and sips propane. Best of all I dont have to worry about dead batteries in the morning. Great product!

RE: 2020 Silverado 2500

The new trucks have a longer wheelbase.

RE: Toyhauler with outdoor kitchen

Toyhaulers are about maximizing storage space. Outdoor kitchens eat up storage and why you dont see them offered. Consider resale down the road if you buy a unicorn.

RE: Best type of house battery

Most RVs seem to have lead acid deep cycle marine batteries. However I’m just thinking that most but not all RVers rarely camp without shore power. The most instantaneous power demand is when running out slides or deploying jacks. So it seems to me that a standard or combination starting battery makes more sense than the deep cycle marine battery. One more question I have: I’m wondering if the higher cost for agm batteries is worth the money. The plus side to me is not having to keep up with the electrolyte levels. I would be interested in what others think about this or have experienced. Lots of assumptions here... Until you dry camp you’ve never really “camped”. I dry camp 10x as much as I hookup.

RE: 2020 Ram 2500/3500: MotorTrend Truck of the Year

kinda surprising with both ford and gm offering new powerplants. Gas engines dont carry a lot of weight (no pun intended...) in the HD segment

RE: New Truck and 5th wheel

Bet pin weight will be closer to 3k lb fully loaded.

RE: Nothing Stays secure!

You have to lay down etrack for wheel bonnets. Most arent willing to lay that down in a hauler.

I can live without. and the piece of mind a solid rear axle provides.

RE: 5th wheel or bumper pull

Snip... Once again personal choice, but there is still a lot of usable space in the bed. This is a true statement. With our long bed, we have more than enough room for stuff in the bed. Heck even with my short bed Ive got room for lots of fire wood or ice chests. When did having a 5er mean you couldnt use the bed? Fake News!!!

RE: 5th wheel or bumper pull

Well there you go... If you’ve never pulled a 5er then yes you’ll think your bumper pulls really nice. You have to go up stairs every time you go in/out your bumper pull. Whats a couple more?? Dont get the fire comment. All 5ers have escape windows.

RE: Odd tire wear

Appreciate all the feedback but it seems to be all over the place as far as what would cause this.

RE: Odd tire wear

What kind of trailer is this? Semi? Tandam axle? duals? Spread? Looks like your dragging the tires through right turns. Yes semi trailer. Was being used by a friend of mine who delivers camper shells out West for Leer/SnugTop. Relatively light loads for a semi. https://i.imgur.com/qt35Arwl.jpg

They are the same tire brand/size.

Odd tire wear

What would cause this odd wear on only the outer tread blocks? Inner tread blocks are smooth/round. These are the only two tires on the trailer that show this type of wear. https://i.imgur.com/TzaSzyql.jpg

RE: 5th wheel or bumper pull

39ft bumper pull just has “bad idea” written all over it. Will tow like **** regardless of TV. My 28 footer towed well but is far to small for us to live in for 5++ months each year. I tow from Michigan to Las Vegas and Tucson bi annually and to Texas ever year then on to Florida. I have been in winds in Oklahoma and near tornodic conditions in TX. I cross the big Mac at least 4 or 5 times a year under "high wind advisory" conditions. It takes at least 8000 to 10,000 miles a year to do our road travel. Guess what the TT tows just fine and although this unit is higher (larger wheels and tires on both the truck and TT) we do well and have never had to lay over for more that 3 or 4 hours in Nevada waiting to turtle up with the semis to make it across the desert. Realize of course I am not using a 1500 but do have a 2500 with heavy suspension and DMAX. Well a 28 footer is no 39 footer... Have you ever pulled a 5er to compare to? Everything is relative.

RE: Air bags/shocks and the anticipated ride.

I have the same truck (2012) and pull a 12k lb 5er. I put Bilstein 5100 shocks on it when new and just a couple years ago added Timbrens. It towed fine before the Timbrens but is even better now. I had air bags on an older truck and liked them but didnt want to deal with install/$$ this time and gave the Timbrens a try. Install is all of 10min and it in no way affects the ride when empty. Do you recall the total price for the Bilstein and Timbrens? Just curious...ball park. Bills are like $400 and Timbrens less than $200. Both are great investments. The cost of the Timbrens and ease of install are a no brainer.
