RE: Anyone pull with a 2020 GMC 2500 standard box?

I know people do but I would never pull a 5th wheel trailer with a short box truck. A long box truck will pull better, back better, and has a larger fuel tank. False, false, false... Nothing but “old school” thought here.

RE: 5th wheel verses travel trailer

I realize your question involves weight, however the difference in towing is significant in my experience. However, we like to go on long trips, and we're on the interstates a lot. I prefer towing a fifth wheel, and I've towed both TT, and fiver cross country. In regards to weight, that's more of a question of what type of tow vehicle you'll be using. I now have a one ton dually, and we love it. Completly agree. With same truck my current 31ft 5er tows better than prior 21ft bumper pull despite being 4k lbs heavier.

RE: 5th wheel verses travel trailer

You can tow a bigger Travel Trailer than 5th wheel while staying within any given trucks ratings. Longer TT but not necessarily larger. The longer you go on a TT the worse they tow.

Power only when genny running

On my 5er this weekend I lost all coach power after shutting down the generator (4k Onan). Batteries are fully charged and no problem cranking the genny back up. Transfer switch bad?

RE: Checked the batteries

I keep hearing how "Mixing batteies" causes problems Now in series yes. I mean when you put two GC-2 in series they effectively become two halves of a single 12 volt battery.. And I'd not want a 12 volt battery that was half and half. But when put put 'em in parallel. they work it out automitically and all the The ____ battery will ____ stuff with basically one exception is bunk. And that exception (Shorted cell WILL drag down the entire set) can happen with brand new batteies I've had it happen at 1 week. You’ve got it backwards... Batteries connected in series have no affect on each other. One is not aware of the others condition or vice-versa. Put em in parallel and the condition of each directly affect the other. They will try to equalize.

RE: Tire recommendations for 5th wheel

Wont run anything but LTs. Bridgestone Duravis R250. I dont get caught up in all the capacity numbers like some of the propeller heads in here. Simply holding a good LT tire in one hand and a shitty ST in the other tells the story. No comparison...

RE: 2020 vs '17-'19 Ford 6.7

If your trading in truck every 3yr you never technically own it... Again a car salesman dream to be able to keep you in monthly payments the rest of your life. If you truly believe $2k/yr Ive got some great affordable ocean front property in NV Id like to show you. Lol... Here's some actual numbers for you to consider: I paid cash for a new Super Duty in 2011. Five years and 100,000 miles later I sold it privately and by adding $27k to the sale price I bought a 2016 Super Duty. 18 months and 35,000 miles later I sold the 2016 privately and by adding $15k cash I purchased a new 2017 Super Duty. If I were to sell my 2017 today, with 28,000 miles on it, I believe I could add $21k cash and purchase a new 2020 SuperDuty. So if I replace my 2017 I will have a total of $63k plus my 2011 Super Duty spent to own a new 2020 Super Duty Platinum. Had I kept my 2011 Super Duty it would now have 163,000 miles on it and be approaching 10 years old. If I were to sell it today and buy a new 2020 I would likely be looking at about 60k difference. I would have saved some money by having less money tied up in a vehicle over the last few years had I kept the 2011 but, on the other hand I might have had some repair bills to offset some of that. So like I said owning these trucks costs a lot of money but whether you trade every 3 years vs every 10 is not really a big deal one way vs the other. Not doin a numbers crunchin pissin match with ya. Wont even read....

Only rich people can answer your question. These trucks are expensive no matter how you buy them. Replacing your diesel every 3 years vs every 10 probably only costs about $2k per year more. You cant be serious... Your a car salesman’s dream.

RE: timbrens

People really should not compare air bags with Timbrens. They're 2 completely different animals with entirely different approaches. In some cases Timbrens might work fine for you and in other cases you're really much better off with air bags. Depends on the setup. Different approach to address the same issue. Nothing wrong with comparing. Really dont see any logic in your argument here.

They work great on my 2012 Duramax. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

RE: Love my Mr Heater Hunting Buddy

Plenty of Youtube videos on whether they are safe. I have zero worries... I dont sleep in freezing temps at home so why should I have to in my trailer? No fun getting up to piss in freezing temps

RE: Love my Mr Heater Hunting Buddy

Im running mine off a 20lb propane tank and 10ft Mr Hearter hose I run through a cracked window. Not a fan of those 1lb cylinders

Love my Mr Heater Hunting Buddy

Have always hated the built-in furnace in my 5th wheel. Noisy as hell, sucks propane and drains the battery overnight. I recently slept a couple nights in cold weather with the Hunting buddy and couldnt be happier. Kept the trailer a nice 65* while on low, makes no noise, and sips propane. Best of all I dont have to worry about dead batteries in the morning. Great product!

RE: Toyhauler with outdoor kitchen

Toyhaulers are about maximizing storage space. Outdoor kitchens eat up storage and why you dont see them offered. Consider resale down the road if you buy a unicorn.

RE: Best type of house battery

Most RVs seem to have lead acid deep cycle marine batteries. However I’m just thinking that most but not all RVers rarely camp without shore power. The most instantaneous power demand is when running out slides or deploying jacks. So it seems to me that a standard or combination starting battery makes more sense than the deep cycle marine battery. One more question I have: I’m wondering if the higher cost for agm batteries is worth the money. The plus side to me is not having to keep up with the electrolyte levels. I would be interested in what others think about this or have experienced. Lots of assumptions here... Until you dry camp you’ve never really “camped”. I dry camp 10x as much as I hookup.

RE: 2020 Ram 2500/3500: MotorTrend Truck of the Year

kinda surprising with both ford and gm offering new powerplants. Gas engines dont carry a lot of weight (no pun intended...) in the HD segment
