RE: Stimulus Check , what are you going to do with yours ?

It's a stimulus check. What will I do with it? Spend it and stimulate.

RE: GM trucks outsell Ford first quarter !

It will be interesting to see what happens when the Zombie Apocalypse is over. Will people run out and buy new trucks/cars or, realize there are things more important than a new vehicle, like thousands of rolls of toilet paper? I was just having that conversation with the wife. Will this make younger people appreciate what they have and quit spending willy-nilly? Will this experiance weed out all the uneeded things everyone has been wasting money on? Will the "on the edge" businesses make it? Will helping your kids with schoolwork become the norm again? The stimulus package will be a double edge sword, giving away money to even those that don't need it or deserve it won't teach responsibility. That's why if you make over something like $150,000 married, you don't get any money. So I think if you are making less, you do in fact "need" it.

RE: Senior Citizens Speak Up

Here's some fairly current info about how states rank in Federal dependency. A few different ways to figure but clearly California Federal taxpayers are subsidizing those in a majority of the other states. Strange how a state that is doing so much right can be the target of so many ignorant attacks. We've got some real bottom feeder states but we mostly feel sorry for the residents, not attack them. Not on topic, but neither are the tiresome digs about California. X2!

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

This was on sunday edition: Wondering how coronavirus may affect your RV trip? Imagine the family in China, who while on the road in their motorhome, suddenly were quarantined in place. Zhang Qi’s family spent two wonderful days on the coast of the Fujian province and were ready to head home. The local authorities suddenly shut down all tourist support facilities, and the Qi family was stuck in their rig, almost out of fuel, in cold weather. They spent nights shivering under seat cushions, waiting for their two-week enforced quarantine. Finally, they called social services and they responded with blankets, water and arrangements for electricity. And they also brought food to help the family that was by then down to a few instant noodles. After the quarantine period was over, the family still couldn’t receive permission to travel, so Zhang volunteered at a health center, while the rest of the family made friends with neighbors. After a rather protracted vacation that was supposed to last a few days, the Qi family, after 40 days, got to go back home – to Wuhan.

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

If, this is true about jail folks for driving through a state under "stay at home orders" is true, it's another great example of govt silliness. Those same states governments are calling for releasing felons because jails and prisons are too dangerous due to the virus, so the cure is to put more people in there. Well it is NOT true. And NJ is NOT releasing felons. They are releasing disorderly conduct low level county jail prisoners. They are only ok'ing them on an individual basis. These are people who got sentences for drunk and disorderly conduct and those type of crimes.

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

They've taken hundreds to jail for violating the stay at home orders. If I were you I wouldn't chance it. Bypass Delaware and any other state that will confine you for being out and about. Better yet, stay in Florida. You are just saying that to keep people out of AZ. I read on that there In Ter Net that you can be cured from China flu by going to AZ and if you lay out neckit in the desert, the Arizona Dry Heat will pull the virus right out of you.:B

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

I have not seen any gas stations closed. Quite the opposite. Nobody is driving, prices are the lowest in years because there is a glut of fuel out there. Stations are "essential" businesses and the owners want to bring in whatever money that can right now.

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

I think I would stay away from NY too. Most of the cases in NJ, up to 2,844 today, are in north Jersey which is just a suburb of NY really.

Better yet, stay in Florida. Where is that? Not here in NJ. Today I went to the bank, stopped at the post office, stopped at the drug store, and then did some grocery shopping. If you want to store your RV in NJ call ahead to make sure the place is open.

RE: Possible stimulus payments from Gov't

At aside, IF the federal government decides to issue a payment, I see one of two possibilities. First is where did you last refund from the IRS go, or payment to them come from? Second, if you are on Social Security, where did you last payment go? Federal government has been pushing hard for many, many years to avoid paper checks whenever possible. Direct deposit is their main desire. There are a few banks here in NJ that have just this week drastically cut back their hours. Some have closed their lobbies all together and will only have drive thru open. Probably be worse before it gets better. I can see them about forcing people to do on line banking.

RE: Hand Sanitizer NBC reports the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office opened a price gouging investigation after the story went viral this weekend. State law bars people from charging “unreasonable prices for essential goods and services, including gasoline, in direct response to a disaster." Colvin confirmed Sunday that he would be donating all of the hand sanitizer to charity. WRCB reports the AG’s staff was seen hauling boxes out of Colvin’s storage unit on Sunday. But donating them will not get him off the hook.

RE: Investment Gurus-thoughts?

Pay off the one that you owe the least money on. The psychological boost of "paying off" a debt does have a "value" in itself.

RE: Valve stem extensions for DRW

Okay, I purchased the correct chuck and I can see how it WILL work to air up both inner and outer tire on the rear. However, I can't get my hand in to remove the valve stem cover. I tried a needle-nose plier, a regular plier and neither would do the job. Is there a special tool for this task or do you have a very small hand available to help out? How do you remove the valve stem cover on the inner dually? I found on my Ram it's easier to reach behind the outer dually between the two tires to get the cap off than to try and get it off through the hole in the outer rim.

RE: GM trucks will get updated interiors like 2021 tahoe

A 8~10 speed tranny would really help the gasser along with a better interior. I’ve been waiting on the upgrade from the 6.0, but when you complain the new Chevy HDs to theRam and Ford it just is missing too much. My current Chevy has been great, and makes me want to stick with them, but I’m not sure that I will. They all three have their differences. Ram has air ride suspension and the big screen. Ford is similar to Chevy in the screen but has massaging seats and panaramic roof. GM has the heads up display and camera for a rear view mirror. All depends what's important to you. Camera is in the rear view mirror? That would suck. Way too tiny to see anything.

RE: Preparing for isolation to avoid contact with Corona virus

My thought would be to take the same precautions you take to avoid the regular Flu. The Flu has killed one whole heck of a lot more people than the virus du jour, which is corona virus this year. COVID-19 (corona virus): Approximately 3,048 deaths reported worldwide; 2 deaths in the U.S., as of March 2, 2020. Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year. It's not the "total" that counts, but the percentage. Something like .01% is your 12,000 - 16,000 deaths. Corona as it stands this evening 6 dead out of 90 cases. If 6% of flu cases ended in death that would be millions worldwide.

RE: Who's the shortsighted one here

We always park as far away from the entrance as possible... We can always use that little extra walk, and we get open space on both sides so no one carelessly hits my truck opening a car door. Altho, sometimes we get back to the truck and see folks parked on both sides in the middle of many open parking spaces on each side in back rows. Weird. Yeah, what the heck is it with people. Just the other day went to the grocery store with my wife. ALWAYS park way out with 5 or 6 empty spaces around us. Come out of the store and vehicle parked right next to us.

RE: Is Ram Ditching Aisin Tranmissions

Super slow 0-60. You obviously don't have a 4:10 behind it. In this test it was 3:42. Other tests I've seen are similar. Regardless of gear ratio, everyone says it drives like a semi unloaded. But drives great loaded. I would challenge anyone to drive a HO Cummins/Aisin with a 4:10. Get on it at a light. Nothing slow about it. Here is an 18 with the Aisin and 4:10. There is a drag race a few minutes in. I wouldn't call it fast. Never talked about racing at a drag strip. Just talking about day in and day out driving in mixed traffic. Of course there are vehicles faster, and guess what, there are vehicles slower.

RE: A Kind Act

I've been using a wheelchair for over 5 years following a sudden disability. I was just finishing lunch at a local IHOP diner here in Amarillo TX when I asked the waitress for the bill. She proceeded to inform me that it had been already taken care of. Some kind hearted, empathetic person decided to pick up my tab. The waitress was holding a credit card in her hand when she informed me, and I figured the card was one of the customer's, but I wonder if it was she herself who paid the bill. Whoever it was, it was certainly a kind act. Just thought I'd share. :) Just remember. Repay with kindness to someone else.
