RE: You have 13 yrs 11 mths left to buy a GM gas or dsl vehicle

As Ev's become more and more common that means there will be less and less ICE's on the road. What you will see happen is the opposite of what all the EV naysayers are saying about number of charging stations. They say EV won't catch on because there aren't enough places to charge on the road. When EV's take over there won't be gas stations available anymore for all your ICE drivers. Nobody is going to keep a gas station open if they are selling 1/4 of the amount of fuel that they are now selling. This alone will accelerate the demise of ICE even more. You will be hearing ICE drivers complain that they aren't going to drive cross country if they don't know if there will be an open gas station when they need it.

RE: RV Dealers

So I was looking at a new 2021 Springdale and I happen to ask if this trailer would be ready to go if I bought it right now. The salesman said they do not supply sewer hose, WATER hose or Propane Tanks.....is this normal?....kind of turned me off... I wouldn't worry about that stuff. I would worry about how the dealer is going to handle warranty work. Add on the contract: Warranty work performed and completed within 30 days or else the dealer starts paying you a set $$ amount for everyday over 30. If the dealer is cutting every cost, they will not/would not sign any contract concerning penalty payment for untimely warranty service. It would be very unusual, to not have propane cylinders supplied with any new RV trailer. Jerry If the dealer wants you to buy his RV then let's see him stand behind his business.

RE: Power pedestal wiring question

If they wanted to limit you to the 30A receptacle, then they wouldn't also provide a 20A receptacle. Actually, the National Electric Code requires that every site with electricity have the 20A receptacle (even when there is also a 30A and/or 50A receptacle). I assume this is at least partly to cut down on people using 30A to 15/20A or 50A to 15/20A adapters which frequently do not have proper overcurrent protection--and, presumably for that reason, are also frequently not UL listed. I agree that it is perfectly within one's rights and reasonable use to plug things into both the 30A and the 20A receptacle, unless the campground specifically requests otherwise. Using the amenities that are included with your campground fees is perfectly reasonable--I don't see where it's any different than using the playground or swimming pool or nature walk, even if not everybody who camps makes use of them; it's part of the package deal for getting the site. I believe they require the 20 amp outlet as a "service outlet" in order to have electricity available to to do work as needed for maintenance and repairs. Just like you have to have an outside service outlet on a house so workman have electric available to them.

RE: Curt Rockerball

Just buy a hitch with a shock absorbing shank. Probably safer than that ball.

RE: Build my TV

Upgrading from a 27'TT to a 41' 5er. Obviously now also need to trade in my TV for something more capable. Relying on the collective wisdom of this group for guidance. I do not have any strong brand loyalty beyond american made -- concerned about driving experience, ride comfort, towing capacity for the quoted trailer, and reliability. Make your proposals. Pretty well set on a diesel, but convince me if I am wrong. Trailer is 40' UVW 14344 lbs I agree with going with a diesel and if "American Made" is your requirement (It's my requirement as well) then GM and Ford is your excellent choices. Well FISH what about the life of the truck the 6.7 PS that's Made in Mexico??????? The OP wants an American made truck that means only Ford and GM fit's the bill and that's how I roll as well. Perhaps you can sing to the choir who will purchase a foreign built truck from a foreign company that's controlled in Europe that don't reflect our values like your Ram product. Built for America https://i.imgur.com/10oD45hl.jpg Interesting Ford has a HD truck assembled in the USA with an engine built in Mexico. Ram has a HD truck assembled in Mexico with an engine built in the USA ...And who owns Volvo Trucks?

RE: Build my TV

Buy whatever brand is comfortable to sit in for long trips. Just make sure you get a diesel dually with a 4:10. Really don’t need 4.10’s with a diesel towing 16k to18k as 3.73 give me 25,214# towing capacity. Better to have the capability and not need it than to need it even once or twice and wish you had it. Doesn't really cost anymore when your talking $70-80,000 for a truck.

RE: Employment VS Unemployment

At the long term hotel where I'm currently living I've noticed a decline in the number of housekeepers recently. Today, I saw the general manager performing housekeeper duties in addition to her own, including the ass't manager. I questioned her as to what was happening with the housekeeping girls. She told me they were quitting because they can do better financially on unemployment. I've seen these housekeepers in action. They are hard workers, but undoubtedly working for very low wages. I suppose this is happening in many industries right now. I can't say I blame the workers. In today's environment money has become an especially important commodity, and if it means quitting a job, so be it. I hope they realize unemployment benefits aren't meant to be permanent, but as long as the pandemic continues, they may continue into the indefinite future. I wonder, as long as Unemployment becomes more attractive to many lower paid service workers, will employers need to increase their wages substantially in order to compete? Of course, that will raise the cost of goods and services across the board. It's virtually impossible to live any sort of decent life on anything approaching minimum wage, unless that earner is supplementing a family's total income. It almost seems like the system is designed to destroy people who aren't relatively well off. For many it's just about impossible to "catch up" with increases in cost of living.. I learned long ago that working for an employer wouldn't lead to a successful financial future; so I began my own business. I understand that direction isn't for everybody, though, and has its own pitfalls. If I hadn't gone into business, I think I may have wound up homeless today, due to various circumstances in my life. Anyhow, my heart goes out to these hardworking folks who are trying to make it as best as they can during these cruel times. Bless them. Hotels and the whole general hospitality industry is down. nobody travels like they used to. Therefore, just because somebody still has a "job" as a maid at a hotel doesn't mean they are still making enough to live on. Maids make their money just like waiters and waitresses, with tips. No people means no tips. Which then means no income, even though they may still have a "job".

RE: DRV height

we Like the great outdoors resort in titusville,fl. There are several shed roof RV lots at 150,000.00 that my DRV would fit under. When i was younger we had a slide in camper that we would drive out on the beach at cape hatteras NC. we would run 15 lbs of air in the tires and go anywhere in the soft sand. There all aluminum building bye the way. The market is hot here with all the NORTHERN tax and spend city dwellers moving here. After 5 years of full timing were looking to park our rv at a nice resort for 6 months a year and have a place close to our kids. So if it is all aluminum, it's just one of those open walls with a metal roof on top that they sell? Basically a cover to park under? If that is all it is, raise up the all the support posts to increase the height.

RE: DRV height

I have a 2016 DRV 38RSSA does anyone know the exact height. Looking a an rv lot with open shed roof but have to get under 13.1 header What is the header made out of? Is this the gable end or is the header carrying the rafters? If it is 2x12's, take it out and replace it with a flitch beam. You could probably downsize it to 2x6's.

I put on mask to walk the dog before we went in. First person I met "You don't need that mask, this is Trump country". We could not open the restaurant door. Your loss. And good 'ol boy Pence is one of the first in line to get the vaccine. I wonder why, since Covid is a "hoax".

Hypothyroidism? What is the rate of that in the general population vs AO exposure? Very common. My mother and 5 of us kids have that, not to mention aunts and uncles.

RE: Dumping at Home

Why the "U" turn on that clean out sticking up by the tank? Instead of laying the pipe flat, why didn't you just run a short section Y into the line right above it?
