RE: Geocache of a mysterious nature in Utah

Didn't some billionaire hide something worth a lot of money out there somewhere? Mabey they found it and don't realize it.
They found the treasure chest.

RE: Forest River Cardinal and Cedar Creek Question

Previous discussions each. BTW, we own a Cardinal.
Cardinal vs CC
That discussion was from 2006 and really has no bearing today.
TRUE>> AND>>>>
the Cardinals took away the molded rear cap as standard... I BELIEVE that they only come with 1 certain package now... back in 2006 they were standard
After 2018 Cedar Creek also got rid of the rear cap.
I was looking at used Cedar Creeks and intent on getting one 2017-2018 and then a Cardinal deal dropped in front of me that I could not refuse. Now I own a 2019 Cardinal Limited 3600DVLE.

RE: The price of new trucks is beyond comprehension!

Back to OP's original title:
Back in November 1984 I ordered a brand new 1985 Dodge D-150 with stereo, A/C, 318V8, and 4sp od.
Price...$10,000.
I thought WHAT!!!! $10,000 for a pickup truck!!!! OMG!!!!
Just to keep it in perspective.

RE: Advice on towing a 5th wheel

You might want to check on the length. I saw where they don't count what is over the truck in the total length. Only the length of the "box" it self. So a listed 33' 5er is minus the upstairs, or bed if it has a bed up stairs.
Just like on a Travel Trailer. The tongue is not counted in the published length. Only the Box itself.
This is where a tape measure comes in real handy.
Misinformed. My 5er is 37 ft from the pin to the rear of the fiver the 5th wheel hitch for the pin is 2inches in front of the trucks rear axle.
Not necessarily.
My fiver is a "3600" model.
Main box length: 36'
Pin length: 40.
Total trailer length: 41'10".
I used to have a "25" TT.
Box length: 25'
Total length hitch to bumper: 29'10".
It depends on how the numbers are presented and by who.

RE: Looking at '17 3500 Ram

Bought my 2017 laramie, dually, HO, Aisin long bed new in Feb '18 as a leftover.
Once I got the draglink replaced, no problems. About 48,000 miles now.

RE: new roof

I would cut the back to the rafters on either side of the rot.
Replace the wood.
Buy a piece of roof material and glue it to the wood.
Take some Eterna Bond tape and tape the new seams.
Just for extra insurance coat the whole roof with Henry 887.

RE: General 5th Wheel Brand Question

I bought a Cedar Creek 2016 Hathaway model. Here's what I like: Hung walls with residential insulation. Walls have studs on 16" centers and are screwed in place. Cannot delaminate, have room to allow electrical boxes and plugs on outside walls. Hydraulic leveling and slide out mechanisms. Room on each side of the bed even into the slide-out. Making the bed is a breeze. Very quiet and efficient ducted A/C. "I" beam frame also has a square tube stiffener welded along the length for reinforcement. Brand name appliances, carpet, furniture and mattress. Very happy with ours. Factory has been very receptive about sending me parts for things I can fix or okaying mobile service for other repairs.'
B.O.
So with a "hung wall" how is the fiberglass attached to the studs. I don't see any outside fasteners on any of the photos I see.
I am actually looking at Cedar Creeks now. Don't want a new one as it appears they dropped the rear fiberglass cap after 2018. I really like the look of the rear fiberglass cap.

RE: Manassas location

Whoever makes your furnace contact them and make the warranty claim against them.
Tell them to ship you a new unit and hire an HVAC contractor to install it.

RE: back up and side view cameras

Unlikely without some additional components like lockpick, and I don't know if that will even work. OEMs do not permit cameras to be displayed while the vehicle is in motion. It may even be a written into the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
They will display on my Ram, but time out after about 15-20seconds.
If I am backing up it stays on as long as I am in reverse.

RE: Thoughts on the Cost of RVing

Haven't read all seven pages yet.
To OP:
You need to figure your cost if you don't take the RV.
How much for airfare, rental cars, hotel rooms, no eating/drinking in the rv, you have to go out to a restaurant or bar, or eat in the hotel.
Now add that estimated cost and compare to estimated RV cost for the same trip.
Then, figure in the "comfort factor" of staying in your own bed.

Illiteracy taking the forefront here, sorry.
Supply and demand controls fuel costs.

RE: How often..

I replace them about every three years. I rotate them through to my cargo trailer or car hauler.
Having a flat locally with either of them isn't as bad as having a flat on the interstate with the TT.

RE: Axle Ratio, new truck

There really is a reason that lower gears are rated to tow higher weights. Something to do with physics
Explain the physics for us when both options are well within tow ratings.
Lower gears put more torque to the ground. One way is by allowing the engine to turn more RPM making more HP.
another way to check how much difference a gear makes is to get on a 10 speed bike. Try to start off in 10th. then try to start off in 1st. see if you can tell a difference. I'm betting you can. The lower the gear the easier it is for the engine to move the load. Just physics
X2!
That's a good real world example to use.

RE: Front Bath Owners

DW and I are going to have to live full time while I build our house. The extra 1/2 bath that comes with them is what really makes them so appealing. Won't have to "wait your turn" haha.
We looked at Gulfstream a few years ago but we weren't ready and I didn't have a big enough TV at the time. Now everything is falling into place.
Definitely buying used one though to save some $$.What brands do you all have and how have they held up?

RE: Finished! Roof Coating/Maintenance Report with Henry's 877

Did mine and posted in the other roof maintenance thread. I ordered a new cover for my refrigerator and that took well over a month because of backordered.
What I noticed about the Henry coating is it reflects the sun and heat a lot. Prior to coating my roof would dry out the morning dew almost as soon as the sun hit it.
With the Henry coating it will not dry out after an entire day. The water beads up into giant beads like when you wax your vehicle. I got mine just in time to beat the fall leaves coming off the trees.
I was going to coat the roof of my cargo trailer but too many leaves are dropping now and I don't want to have to try and pick them out as i go along.

RE: Used 2020 Chaparral 373MBRB question

Well you know what happens with cars and rv's as soon as you take them off the lot. They become used and the value just plummeted.
So this is a one year old used rv. Offer them based on that.
