RE: Closure Threads

President Trump said at a press conference this afternoon that they were considering closing NYC and some of the surrounding area. He refused to go into details saying it was still being discussed. No quarantine was imposed, but the CDC issued a Travel Advisory urging residents of NY, NJ & CONN to refrain from non-essential travel for 14 days.

RE: Full-time and don't/didn't like it?

My question is, are there many who try full-timing and don't or didn't like it? Surely we can't be the only people that have no interest in this lifestyle. There are a lot of ways to RV, and many folks try more than one, but my guess is that most people who ‘have no interest’ in the full-time lifestyle don’t take it up. My impression, just from reading this forum, is that most who give up full-timing do so because their circumstances change.

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

The highways are open. Any statements to the contrary here are incorrect. Lots of folks are making their way home at this very moment.

RE: Reservations cancelled

Maryland is canceling camping reservations prior to May 11, but the parks remain open, with one exception. Virginia State Parks are still open and allowing camping, but I wonder how long that will last. There’s a political aspect to the decision-making, elected officials want to be perceived as ‘doing something’, even if there may be a question as to effectiveness. Not an easy call, but camping at a social distance may be a better alternative for those who can do so.

RE: Bad Time To Sell RV?

Most people don’t make expensive discretionary purchases during times of economic uncertainty, and those who do are often the more well-off looking for a bargain. Remember what happened to RV sales during the Great Recession of 2008-09? An individual seller might get lucky, but overall it’s much more of a buyer’s market.

RE: Heading Home (North)

I think I need to amend my statement on the first page of this thread that most non-spring training baseball snowbirds were sticking with their original plans. That may have been true when I left on Sunday, 3/15, but a lot changed quickly with parks closing or threatening to. Took my time heading north (why rush to colder weather?), and have been overtaken by heavy RV traffic. Welcome Centers for Georgia, SC & NC had all their RV spaces filled when I went through, and the campgrounds I stayed at were full of close to it. The one I’m at now doesn’t do online reservations (in 2020?), and was too busy to keep up with phone calls most of the day.

RE: Buy Now or Wait on the Crazyness to Subside??

There are far fewer buyers for costly discretionary purchases during economic uncertainty or a downturn. If you’re in a position to go ahead, you may be able to make a better deal.

RE: Heading Home (North)

I’m in West Palm Beach for spring training baseball, which was cancelled, along with many other things, on Thursday. County park campground announced Friday that they would refund fees for those who want to leave early. Although I’m heading out tomorrow, my sense is that most of the non-baseball snowbirds are sticking to their original plans, so far.

RE: RV Superbag

Is anybody using an RV Superbag? If so, how do you like it? Is it worth it or skip it?Bought one about 6 years ago - it’s still in great shape, looks good, and works for me, although it was a bit pricey. Travasak was out of business at the time, so it was the best available option for me. I believe Travasak was since revived, but I haven’t seen anything here about whether it’s the same folks/quality or just someone buying the name.

RE: 2020 Mercedes Sprinter based RV's

Mercedes has come out with a gas Sprinter. Are any of the RV manufacturers using it yet?
