RE: Many paged forum?

1: Social media. Face Book specifically. 2: Snarky attitude filled answers, coupled with argumentative answers. 3: Posts that contribute nothing to the original subject / question.

RE: Lifting fifth wheel

Years ago I did exactly this for a customer's coach, IIRR, it was in excess of 6". It was a low profile 5th wheel, so total height wasn't a real concern. Worked out fine for him. But as already suggested, double check measurements & what's actually needed before cutting and welding.

RE: Covid 19 high risk poll

ME-62 W. chronic leukemia, so immune system is questionable at best. Her-62 high BP, otherwise Ok. Due to my immune issues we have always been practicing social distancing & lots of hand sanitizer so aside from staying home, not a lot of differences here.

RE: leveling jacks

I prefer electric due to having had to deal with hydraulic issues for several years when I was working in the RV biz. Each has it's good and bad points. Neither system is perfect.

RE: Destroying a truck

That whole thing from start to finish is remarkably stupid.

RE: Hydraulic 6 point leveling

Yes, No need for sealant, as the threads don't seal, they just hold the sealing surfaces together. No need to worry about air, it will work itself out. Cycle the levelers several times after replacing the line, this will speed the escape of the air.

RE: Impact of the Corona Virus on the Drug Supply

From what I have read the biggest issue is China supplies a lot of the raw materials for various drugs. From there they go to India/ other places where it is actually manufactured. The good news is a lot of drug companies have stockpiles of drugs and some raw materials. So there is some time before things get really critical. The bad news is we / the world seems to have forgotten to plan on incidents like this, so if this virus or other disaster becomes long term big problems result. Would I mind if my prescriptions cost 15% more if I could be guaranteed a reliable supply? Nope, not at all.

RE: LOUD Transmission drone at 58-62MPH

My guess is rear axle, as it changes due to load VS coast. Long shot would be carrier bearing.

RE: The Coronavirus

As already said, the flu kills more, so I am not worried, haven't canceled any plans. Just follow good hygiene practices.

RE: shipping cost for secondary part

If you buy tires from them, do they charge you to unbalance the old tires? No, but they do charge a used air recovery & and re-compression fee.

RE: Cautions about Death Valley

This is exactly why one shouldn't venture into the wilds alone. We don't. One wrong move and things can get serious very quickly. Signs are good to a point, but one good storm and what was moderately hazardous becomes an extreme danger.

RE: Nevada 267?

Looks to still be closed, this is from the Death Valley park site: Scotty's Castle is CLOSED until further notice due to flood damage, and is not likely to re-open to the public until 2020. All entry to Grapevine Canyon and Scotty's Castle district is currently prohibited. https://www.nps.gov/deva/learn/historyculture/scottys-castle.htm

RE: Rasor OHV trip.

Looks like a good day off road, reminds me of my ATV days.

RE: Trailer hitch

While I can appreciate your issue (I have had it happen to me working at an RV dealer switching from towable to MH) I would think making the tow vehicle and trailer non-flexible is going to put loads in places not intended for loads. I would also think your turning radius is going to be bigger, as you wont be able to "follow" the trailer around the curves.

RE: Best *mid priced* Kinetic Recovery Rope?

Look up Freedom ropes, they are based out of Pismo beach, and their ropes are used to pull some big stuff out and about down there. The Raptor crowd I ran with all used them. https://freedomropes.com/

RE: Small trailer on F350 flatbed

Cant see why it wouldn't be legal, assuming you don't exceeded cargo capacity of the truck or some local or state law.

RE: Need exterior trim piece

Try this outfit: https://www.all-rite.com/ Most moldings / trim are fairly generic, in that most mfgs don't make their own trim pieces.

RE: Purchasing in a 55+ Community - AZ

Aside from the titling issues, take a long hard look at the financial report for the Association- make darn sure the reserves are fully funded, you don't want to buy a space, then get hit with a big assessment to fix the roads or other capital improvement the Association owns.

RE: Question on inner bearing grease seals

Yes the better seals are worth it. As mentioned before they are better able to handle the pressure and vacuum that develops in the hub cavity due to heat cooling cycles. Really, it it worth $ 36.00 to have one of those $3.00 seals fail while on the road?
