RE: Tire Replacement Question

When we purchased new tires at Les Schwab they simply did it in the parking lot with a jack. Really easy and fast

RE: surge protector and water filters

Congratulatiions on the new rig. May I just say that after nearly 40 years of RVing, including full timing, I have never used or needed a water filter, surge protector, special TP or TP chemicals. A water pressure regulator for sure and a black tank internal flusher. But none of that other stuff.

RE: replacing table

Has the table always been a challenge? I am just wondering if the swing arms got bent or just need lubed? We have the same style.

RE: Recreation.gov Cancellation Refund problem

They cancelled several reservations last year due to COVID. I got a prompt refund for all. Sorry. What exactly are they telling you?

RE: RV Dealers

NO it is not normal. There is a tremendous mark up within the RV industry and these should be thrown in to the deal. Are wheels also not included? Seriously, what a jack wagon

RE: Were back in a travel trailer, just bought an Airstream.

Congratulations on your Airstream. They are, in my opinion, by far the highest quality RV on the road. Wish I could afford one. Happy Trails

RE: installing a cutoff switch

You have a power draw somewhere and need to find it. Could be a dangerous situation.

RE: Replace TV

I have a swing out mounted 19 LCD TV. Your mounting point needs to be really solid. I bungee my TV when traveling. Also bigger TV means more power consumption if you boondock and more weight on the mount.

RE: Parking in Sloped Driveway

Could you use a power winch to bring it up and down the driveway? Like you would see on an off road rig.

FLEXIBLE FRESH WATER HOSE

I am tired of fighting with my Camco white water hose. This time of year it is like wrestling a Bowa Constrictor to get it put away. Why do I do this? Anyone know of an easy coiling fresh water hose that won't break the bank. I saw one on a compact reel. Any thoughts?

RE: DYI Electric brakes

Repack all bearings. Check brake magnets. There are wear indicators on contact surfaces. Check brake shoes for wear. Adjust brakes as needed. I learned how to do all this from Youtube.

RE: Quality Decline since Covid

An old timer told me regarding the RV industry "quality is only where you can see it, maybe". I almost pulled the trigger on a new trailer but lack of a conventional oven and overall build quality were disapointing so staywd with what we have. I know our current rig all too well.

RE: Travel trailer necessities

Lots of good suggestions. Did I miss fresh water pressure regulator? IMHO fortget the toilot chemicals. Bad for the envirnment and if you smell sewer gas it is probley a seal leak or leaking air vent tube. Go to an empty lot and practice backing and turning.

HITCH HEIGHTH ?

I am installing my old class 3 adjustable heighth hitch on my new to me Ford Explorer with factory receiver. On the lowest setting my ball is still 2-3 inch's taller than my trailer hitch is when trailer is level. This is unhooked. Do you think my Explorer with factory tow package will sink down a few inch's and work? I do use load leveling bars. Option B is to purchase a different hitch that will lower the ball another two inch's. What say you? I know for sure you guys know more than I do. Thanks in advance.

RE: How much weight could be eliminated?

Honestly even when we towed with a mini van I could tell zero difference in performance or mileage when I stripped my HTT down for a long trip. I probley shaved 250-300 pounds. Alot of what I removed I ended up missing. Maybe I am a minimalist compared to some. I found from dry to ready to camp my cargo weight was 550-575

RE: How difficult to install new brake drums

My trailer is aproaching 20 years. What you suggest is an easy job. I learned alot from Youtube. You may not need drums. If you went that long with no work I suggest your magnets are shot and drums may not have been working. Won't know til all drums are off. I replaced all four brake backing plates and two drums at a cost of $400 parts alone. Backing plate includes new magnets, shoes.
