RE: When the water pump turns on by itself.

I know this should be done without saying, but a friendly reminder. Turn the pump off while driving.... Couple we are traveling with left pump on. To add to trouble sink plug was installed... some how the faucet was turned on. YEP...Empty fresh water tank, about 40 gallons sink over flowed. Huge mess... Turn off pump..... when traveling.

RE: Alaska Bound

Excellent point to remember exchange rate. As of this morning, 1 US dollar equaled $1.26 Canadian. Weather here in Copper Center just south of Glennallen has been warmer than years past and the river has risen about 3 feet. And of course to make it worse, fish have not arrived here YET..... but that's ok. We are here enjoying watching the eagles.

RE: Alaska Bound

Greetings again... Currently sitting just south of Glennallen. Limited to no cell or wi-fi. Comes and goes. Surprise... it's cold, raining and windy....Not really surprised. In Texas it's in the 90's+. As mentioned, going through Canada after we learned the hard way in 2015. We turn off cell phone take the battery out store phone in a metal box to prevent any connections to system. Jokingly said.... but it was expensive.. As expected, fuel prices were shockers. Might think about selling everything and hitchhike home. DW says no... Seen 3 mother bears with 3 clubs each. Couple of mountain goats and caribou. 2 rabbits and a bunch of prairie dogs. Not as much wildlife as expected. Lake Louis was still iced over but still an awesome sight. Destruction bay, yep it too still iced over. We were surprised at how many lakes still had ice. Haines was just as beautiful as always but you could see they were hit hard by lack of tourists. Crossing the borders was quick and easy. We had our ArriveCan all prepared and less than 10 minutes were on our way.

Alaska Bound

Greetings To All, well the time is finally here. We depart for Alaska Wednesday morning. New tires, New brakes, New wheel bearings. Now time to go. Have decided to close my eyes when time to fill-up. And since we will be driving on the top half of tank, will ONLY need half as much...LOL. Planning to cross border the morning of the 22nd of May at Coutts (Sweetwater) Already logged into AriveCanda with everything. Just need to finalize the night before to cross to obtain our letter code. Planning about 18 days to cross Canada. Taking our time and enjoy that beautiful country. If you are heading out, keep an eye out for this crazy Texan couple. Pulling a 2002 Cardinal with a 2015 Silverado 2500HD both white. Wave as you go by. Be safe...Take the time to enjoy the view and meet some really nice people.

RE: 2013 duramax

2015 Chev Silverado 2500HD Diesel. I have been receiving the "check trailer connection" "service trailer brakes" for a good 4 years. Off and on. With or without trailer connected. Taken vehicle into shops and of course everything checks and tested good. Last year we swapped RV. Surprise, surprise... does the same with the new RV. Started doing some internet research and have found where they are saying it's the trailer brake control that's mounted on the dash. Located behind the panel where you adjust the current going to the trailer brakes. Will be ordering replacement tomorrow. Seems to run around $30. Easy swap-out from video.

RE: Alaska 22 Prudhoe Bay on Moto, Alaska by class C

Only one person in the vehicle needs to have access to ArriveCan. They will have everyone traveling in vehicle listed with all required info. And you will need a quarantine plan just encase they perform a random COVID test at border. You will read all about it on the ArriveCan site.

RE: Mobely / 3G shut down????

Don't ever push the reset button. I made that resets to the 2 hour limit and there's nothing you can do to get it back to unlimited..... enough said.

RE: Alaska 22 Prudhoe Bay on Moto, Alaska by class C

FYI... Canada border crossing now requires you to register in ArriveCan before arriving at the border. Down load the app to your cell phone to show at border. If not registered, have heard people have been turned back until they were. It is a simple system to use. Don't over think it like I did the first time I opened it. If you are interested in fishing on your way up to Fairbanks. Just south of Glennallen toward Valdez at Copper Center, would recommend Klutina Salmon Charters. Glenn (owner) will put her onto King Salmon. They run a small RV park right on the Klutina river. Copper river reds start arriving there after 10 June. We have reservations there starting 10 June until 12 July. Then heading to Soldotna. Fish start arriving there around the 15th of July. Alaska is an amazing state. This will be our 3rd time. Had planned on going back in 2020, but we all know what happened to prevent that. Enjoy your visit.

RE: Mobely / 3G shut down????

Just checked my Mobely and it shows 4G LTE. Just curious, but is your Mobely shutting down after 2 hours? Mine was, I found a way to spoof it into believing it's running down the highway and stays on as long as I need. Sometimes for a couple of days when I forget to turn it off. If anyone is interested?

RE: Transamerica '22 Pacific-Atlantic crossing

Recommend you use the ArriveCAN app or online before leaving your home country to provide mandatory travel information required for entry into Canada. Seems it's a new requirement from the government for entering Canada.

RE: Border Crossing Headed To Alaska

Sidehillsoup; The number called was:800-461-9999. Called again yesterday, different lady who gave the information as we have been discussing. Not a big deal right now. Just want to be ready next spring. Totally agree with you about taking your time to see the beauty of BC. We try very hard to see and appreciate it. And we have met some amazing people on the road through Canada. Both Canadian and American. As with anywhere a few we just as soon miss next time.

RE: I-40 bridge to memphis

We must of have been dreaming couple of weeks ago as we crossed at Memphis using I40 bridge. Yes it had been closed for major repairs. We had to use the old bridge to cross going east 1st of August. But on return trip 3 weeks later was able to cross using I40 bridge. As far as we know, the I40 bridge is open...

RE: Border Crossing Headed To Alaska

The lady was very firm in stating no non-essential travel through Canada to Alaska. Everything stated above about meeting the requirements to cross is the way we understood, and met other than the test. But as we all know, things have a habit of changing just as we are ready to travel when it comes to crossing. But we are so ready to go back to Alaska. As Trackrig mentioned, it's up to each border agent as to what they ask. Most of them seem to feel, since we are from Texas, we MUST have guns on board. Sorry, know better than to carry one and NOT report and have proper paperwork.... Thanks to all who took the time to answer. Be safe

Border Crossing Headed To Alaska

Currently planning trip to Alaska for May 2022. Checked with Canadian Border control today and was informed we could not cross border going to Alaska unless we were essential travel. As in do we live are work in Alaska. As many years that I attempted to live or work there, never made it. Now we want to go back for our third trip and are told, Sorry can't do that.... and here we thought the border was "open". We are fully vac and meet all other requirements to cross. Have I missed something somewhere?
