RE: Buying RV from a far away dealer

We drove 900 miles away to Missoula Montana last feb. Got 3 grand more on trade in and saved 6 grand on trailer for a total of 9 thousand dollar saving, would do it again for sure.

RE: Solar installation

I went with a 170 watt panel and a 100 watt panel because they fit where I wanted them. So measure your roof carefully.

RE: How dependable are newer trucks with higher mileage?

I would take a trip to Texas to buy a used truck then you will not have to deal with rust.

RE: Boondocking --- Average AH consumption/day?

Every person will be different, but what works for us is 270 watts of solar on the roof and 2 group 27 agm battery's. We do not have a inverter. I also carry a little Ryobi 900 watt propane generator just in case it is cloudy for a couple days.

RE: Dirt road travel

Look at Outdoor RV, we went from a TC to the smallest trailer they make a 18rbs. It has been great for us we travel some of the worst gravel roads in the rocky mountains and never had any problems. The 80 gallon water tank lets us camp for a week which is great.

RE: Cover or not to cover

I used to cover my truck camper, but dealing with the wind was terrible plus the cover broke the gutter ends. Now with my trailer I don't use a cover.

RE: NuCamp Avia- what others compare overall?

We went from a truck camper to a Outdoors RV 18rbs, it is the smallest camper they make. It is heavy with dry weight at 5400 pounds but has all the nice things you want, plus a 80 gallon water tank.

RE: Camping in sub freezing weather

We camp in cold weather, but I winterize the camper and buy windshield washer fluid to flush the toilet. We bring bottled water to drink and make coffee. I have fixed broken plumbing in a camper before and getting to some of the fittings is a pain. So we don't take any chances.

RE: Boondocker recommendations?

We love our Outdoors RV 18 rbs its the smallest trailer they make but is perfect for just the 2 of us. Having the 80 gallon water tank is great for the camping we do, which is up in the mountains by are self.

RE: Timbren SES

Some people hate timbrens and some love them.I have had them on my truck for 8 years and love them, I own a trailer now and they still work great. You have a older truck so you may want to replace your leave springs first.

RE: Outside Shower Mods/Upgrades

I agree they are cheap, put the problem with a up grade is lack of space. You could buy a bigger door and build a bigger inside cabinet then install a better faucet, shower hose and sprayer.

RE: 4 season TT

My Outdoors RV 18RBS is 5400 pounds dry weight, so finding a 28 foot 4 seasons trailer under 6500 pounds will be a challenge.

When you go on the going to the sun road pull both of your mirrors in, and really watch the other drivers coming at you.

RE: Walkable TT roof

You really have to research campers before buying now days. We have a Outdoors RV and the roof has 3/8 inch plywood on it, but I am still very careful when I walk on it.

RE: 2017 F250 gas performance upgrade

You would probably get a good trade in value for your truck, then you could get a new Ford with the 7.3 liter gasser.:)

RE: Ford for a tow vehicle

Not a F-150 but I would go to a F-250 with the 6.2 engine. And 6 speed transmission. My next truck will be a F-350 with the 7.3 engine, and 10 speed transmission. I see you don't have a trailer so go with a bigger truck.

RE: Shark bites for plumbing

They do work great but are kind of pricey, if you aren't in a hurry with a leak go to Amazon and order the pex crimping tool. It is a good tool to have to fix plumbing in your home and RV.

RE: Looking into a Truck Camper

Buy a good used Lance 1072 then build a shed to store it in, the camper will last for at least 25 years. You will not find a fiberglass TC with 3 slide outs. Good luck with your search.
