RE: Tailgate support rack

I would leave the end gate at home and buy the cargo net for the truck box.

RE: Not a good week for Ford

I have no problem with having a recall on my truck or car, growing up in the 60s and 70s you never heard of a Vehicle recall.

RE: Slide out room props

I use 1 inch pieces of wood under our slide out when it is in travel mode for two reasons, when we stop for lunch we can sit in the slide out. But the main reason is because we go off road on some of the worst mountain trails.

RE: norcold N400 refrigerator

Being 20 years old I would start looking at a new frig, you could spend a lot of money fixing this one and it could die in 6 months.

RE: Jackery 500 versus my RV battery

Everything has a use the main reason we got one was to blow up the kayak down by the water instead of by the truck. I also use it to charge the drill battery's in the front storage bay, also by the campfire to charge phones instead of leaving them inside the camper. If for some reason I would need more power I would start the generator. With 370 watts of solar we haven't used the generator in 3 years and we never have full hook ups.

RE: Jackery 500 versus my RV battery

I have the jackery 240 that I have had for 3 months. I agree you are paying for portable power but I have found a lot of things I do with it. It is nice to have power anywhere.

RE: Impact of fuel prices on travel

My heat bill has went up to, I plan to have more insulation but in the attic in the fall of this year. We do burn a lot of wood in the fireplace but finding wood is getting to be a challenge everyone wants crazy prices.

RE: Dually life? What about Ford 6.2L

I pull the smallest outdoors rv trailer loaded its about 7000 pounds the Ford 6.2 engine pulls it great but in the mountains its working pretty hard. I see you own a Arctic Fox 25 foot trailer I wouldn't think you would need a Dually for that.

RE: Would $7 per gal effect your RV lifestyle?

We also have our trips planned and campsites booked so we will travel. My truck towing the trailer gets 9 miles to the gallon, I look at it this way my wife and I worked hard for 45 years we are not going to sit at home, life is short.

RE: Min. black tank for 7 day Boondock?

I would think 25 gallon black tank would last a week, you will have to watch the gray tank. We went with a Outdoors RV because of the water tank 78 gallons, black 40 and gray 40. After camping for a week we can dump the tanks at our local treatment plant.

Also think about how you will charge your batteries, I like solar but a generator also works.

RE: this is why

You could use a battery wrap heater on a car battery in that kind of weather. I wouldn't be getting lithium battery's either, we do cold camping here in Colorado and my battery's stay on the camper tongue of the trailer year round.
