RE: How many have had Thanksgiving in a truck camper?

We had thanksgiving in our camper a few years ago. Thought it would be fun to go to Detroit Lake campground on thanksgiving. Cooked two game hens in our propane oven so we each had our own "Turkey". Weather was cool with intermittent showers. Would do it again but not this year, don't know if the campground is even open after the fires this summer. Update on Detroit Lake; Park is closed while staff repair damage from the Lionshead Fire. All reservations will be canceled and fees refunded for the duration of the closure.

RE: need help trying to locate structural roof frame

You could remove ceiling speaker(s) and try probing for the ceiling support ribs through the speaker holes.

RE: What are the top 5 advantages of a TC?

My list comparing to the Motorhome & 5th wheel I owned. I like TC's because I can camp in small campsites. Being able to take Camper off truck and use the truck for hauling. (gravel, firewood, etc) Able to replace the Truck and keep the same camper. Easier to park.

RE: Opinions on my dilema - newer trucks SRW vs DRW

We are running same camper on SRW LB gasser. If you go gas you can get the payload you need. If you must go diesel, get a DRW. Long bed is not an issue-in fact I intentionally put a SB camper on a LB truck. LB usually gets you greater payload and we love the added storage. I made a wood frame to keep the camper in place. With the EC 850 on a LB I am able to slide the camper forward more than a SB truck. This puts the COG ~ 2” forward of the axle. On our last SB truck the camper was ~ 2” behind the axle as the camper hits the front of the bed (of course). Very pleased with our new setup. BTW; I went from diesel back to gas. The new ten speed trannys are a game changer for gassers. I don’t live in the Rocky’s though... What payload does that give you on 2020 CC LB gasser? Is that with 6.2 or 7.3 engine?

RE: Need Suspension Mods

I agree with Buzzcut check your tire rating. My F350 fully loaded is similar with 4000lbs on the front axle and 7600lbs on the rear axle carrying Adventurer 910FBS camper with 19.5 Tires.

RE: What did you do to your Camper Today?

Our RV air conditioner stopped working. Blowing warm air, but I could tell the compressor would try to startup for a second or two. Got on the roof and measured the 5/50 startup capacitor. Fan side measured 5uf , compressor side measured 1.5uf instead of 50uf. Found a replacement part on ebay for $20. Must be lot of them failing since lots of places were out of stock. Put the new one in today and it works great.

RE: Removing Contact Overloads

Wonder what it would hurt to just get longer U-bolts.

RE: Shock Absorbers

Like having Rancho 9000 on all 4 wheels on my F350 SRW with an in-cab controller.

RE: 19.5s again ... new recommendations?

How did the Hankook tires do for you? I run the Cooper RM253 tires all around on mine. They seem fine to me but I don't have a lot of miles on them.

RE: Overload Spring Sway Stops

I have the SSS-2 installed on my 02 f350, they do a good job combined in the airbags. +1

RE: V10 Eng, desperate in need of help

My 99 F350/V10 did something similar. Turned out to be the fuel pump in the gas tank. When it wouldn't start you could hit the gas tank with a board and then it would start. Or just wait until it cooled off and it would work. Not a cheap repair.

RE: TPM

Haven't bought one yet but was looking at this one which goes up to 116psi. Wish they had an extra readout for the spare too.

RE: TPM

Didn't realize until I looked that they have TPMS devices now that just screw on the tire valves. Was thinking they only went inside the tires.

RE: Corona Virus and RV Travel Video

People are losing their minds over this hyped-up Coronavirus. It's a complete hoax. Not enuf people are dying to make this virus relevant. The N1H1 killed 12,000 people before the prior president took any action. Yet there was no hoarding, no closing of schools and churches, no closing of bars and restaurants, no panic, no nothing. What makes Coronavirus worthy of destroying the US? They are trying to save lives by slowing down the growth since they can't stop it. In Oregon they are expecting the cases to double every 6.4 days with 75000 total cases by May. There is only 6000 hospital beds available so if they can slow the growth down enough then the health care system can treat all the people who are seriously ill from it.

RE: 2018 RAM 2500 with Adventurer 910DB

We have Adventurer 910fbs very similar to your camper. It's on a 99 F350 SRW superduty V10. Fully loaded with gas , water and gear our worst case weight are Front 4050 Rear 7600 We upgraded the tires to 19.5 for $1600. Also have Rancho shocks, std sway bar, air bags and upper and lower torklift stableloads. Truck handles camper fine but its a Ford so no help in your situation but the weights of our campers should be similar.

RE: Really Disappointing (T/C Weight)

Also some states allow registering TC combo as an RV. That takes DOT from your back permanently. Nevada has commercial check station coming to Las Vegas, but I don't see them having scales BTW. If you register as an RV does that mean you have to leave the camper on all the time?
