RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

That could be an option, to import it from Mexico, but from what I can remember, which isn't that much as I wasn't really involved, was that the Mhome did not need to be imported into the US as it had already originated from the US and had been registered there for 14-15 years. Same as if it had to be brought back into Canada, it wouldn't have to be imported again. We'll see what happens as our friend has been in contact with the various authorities. Thanks for all your input on this , and I will let you know what happens.

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

Pardon me if Im missing something but What is the difference between Registration and Title? Isnt it the same thing? As far as I can tell, the 'Title' on a vehicle in the US, is similar to the 'Title' that we used to have on Real Estate here in BC, many years ago. It was an actual document that confirmed who owned the property. It was cumbersome, got lost, got forged, etc and was replaced by a simple registration at the Land Registry. It's similar with our vehicle registration, with the ownership recorded at a central registry. As an update, our friend has contacted the seller where they originally bought the unit in Texas, and they will be sending her the 'required documentation' whatever that means. !

RE: The moon last night

Aside from the 'catch', it was a great shot . especially with what I thought was the first rays of sunlight catching Sinus Iridium up in the top left. That streak must be a satellite as I think it's too small to be an aircraft. Trying to gauge the scale.

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

The motorhome was bought used in Texas a few years ago, and brought back to Canada, and registered it here. They did all the documentation, at the border, when they imported into Canada. Our friend is not aware of receiving the title when they bought it, as this could have been looked after by her husband, who is no longer alive. It's so frustrating to wait so long for it to be sold, and now that it looks as though it will be, the dealership doesn't know what to do! It's also frustrating that she found out about this last Friday evening when all the 'usual contacts' are closing for the weekend. !

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

Thanks for all your help with this. I have been passing all this on to her and she will forward it on to the dealership. I thought after I posted this last night that someone must have the original title!

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

Thanks for the info noteven! I should have added that the Mhome was purchased used in the US a few years , from Texas. This should even simplify matters, I would think. ?

Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

A recently widowed friend of ours has consigned her Foretravel DP to a dealer in Phoenix for sale. We helped her move it down there at the end of last year. Vehicles in Canada, in our province anyway, do not have an actual title, but a registration with the province. The Mhome has now been sold, but the lack of a title now seems to be a real problem to the dealership and is suggesting that she go down there IN PERSON to complete the transaction. As this could entail one of us going down there with her, this would appear to be an expensive and unnecessary trip. Does any one out there have any experience with this? Posted here as more Canadians might see it. I did see somewhere that not all US states issue titles either?

RE: Apollo 11: The Complete Descent !

Can't believe it was 50 years ago. I was on a trip from the UK to see the launch from the Cape. I should dig out the schedule and see where we were on each day. We left Cardiff on July 10th for NYC, and had some time in Houston & New Orleans before the launch. We were supposed to spend the night before the launch at the Cape Kennedy Hilton, but right at the last minute POTUS Nixon and his crew commandeered the entire hotel and we had just a few hours sleep in Orlando before driving across overnight. We could see the lights on the Saturn V and 39a lit up almost as soon as we left Orlando. I was with a few guys that had to take the bus with all the luggage, and the driver offered to stop at a corner store at 3am to buy beer. Couldn't do that in Wales!

RE: Baseball Weekend in London

They had to get more runs there as the Brits are used to cricket where hundreds of runs can be scored, even in the newer shortened games done over a few hours.

RE: Gaspe Trip, Quebec

Having lived in Western Canada for many years before taking my first trip to Quebec, I was really interested to see how my lack of French would work. I do speak a little French, the Parisian French I learnt at school, but I do speak it very badly, and with a Welsh accent! I experimented with my French and also pretended not to speak it at all. In every case, everyone was very accommodating and either switched to really good English or just muddled through with good humour. I had a great time there.

RE: Jeopardy records broken !

glad you learnt it good ;) ;) 'learnt' normal past tense of 'to learn' in UK, where I'm from, and from where the language we lent to you originated. :) Very interesting these variations of the English Language and how they are spoke!

RE: Jeopardy records broken !

I've watched/recorded all 30 or so episodes. Totally stunned at his knowledge.. but I have missed where he got his education. Nobody gets that smart without some formal education.. or does he? You often hear this about knowledgeable people, but I don't think it's necessarily true. I'm not gifted in any way, but I do think that most of my knowledge has been learnt since I left school. I have learnt it myself by being interested in a wide field of subjects. I'm sure that if I saw a breakdown of what I did in school, I would not be able to write down much on those topics!

RE: Did this ever happen to you?

My favourite parking ticket story was from a few years ago. A driver had applied for a personilised plate, and as well as a first choice plate, the form included a space for a second choice. He was only interested in his first choice and so wrote "No Plate" in the second choice section. Sure enough, a few weeks later he received his new plates, showing 'No Plate'. He thought it funny so stuck them on his car. Shortly after that, he started to receive parking tickets, that clearly were not his. When he contacted the DMV, he was told that when a parking ticket was written for an abandoned vehicle that was missing its plate , "No Plate" was recorded, and he was now getting all these tickets!

RE: Eastern US/Canada/Texas Trip Advice

The roads around Toronto include the busiest freeway in the world, or used to be until recently! Also, make sure that you have NO weapons of any kind, including mace pepper spray etc, or anything related to them like holsters, shell casings etc, that will trigger a more intensive search.

RE: Jeopardy records broken !

We have been watching this show recently, we don't normally. We don't mind him. There are so many 'thick' people around, especially on TV, it's refreshing to see someone who isn't. I've noticed that he isn't much of a car guy, he has had a few car questions wrong. There must be others, I'll see if I can spot more of his weak areas. I would imagine the producers are keeping track of this too, and when the ratings start to drop, or when the winnings budget gets low, you may see games with all his weak subjects.

He now has a 14 day total of $1,061,554 ! Couldn't you have waited a few hours? Now what am I going to do at 7:30 PDST? :(

RE: Highway 44 Northern California

If you want to avoid the I 5, why don't you carry on to Alturas after Susanville and take the 97 up through Klamath Falls and Bend. We've done this a few times and you end up crossing into Washington at Goldendale. We always think of this as the 'Volcano Route' as at times, if it's clear, you see dozens of volcanoes. sometimes , multiple ones at the same time.
