RE: Summer 2020 road trip - suggestions

Don't forget to have the correct documentation to cross to the Canadian side. There is a lot more to do on that side and the view of the Falls is much better. Nearly every photo you see of the Falls has been taken from the Canadian side.

RE: My daily trip to Walmart

I wouldn't worry about showing my receipt, unless of course I nicked something now and again! In fact, I would prefer that they all checked, as it would keep the pilfering down, and give the stores more of a chance to keep the prices down.

RE: WA 20 or US 2 across the Cascades summer 2020?

If you do 20, make sure you take a look at the viewpoint by the Liberty Bell Mountain.

RE: Remembrance Day

We just came back from the service at our local village cenotaph. Short military parade, Oh Canada, Flanders Fields poem, WW2 flypast, Last Post, a full two minutes silence, the lament, The Rouse? Laying of about twenty wreaths, God Save the Queen. As invited, most left their poppies an the cenotaph. Very moving.

RE: A Very Quiet Halloween

We had 150 kids, down from 171 last year, and 225 the year before. Living in 'Tropical Canada' we had no weather problems, it was quite warm and dry. Unlike previous years though, we had no one after 8PM even though we left the lights on as we had treats left over.

RE: Full Moon on Friday the 13th an UFOs woo woo woo

I have been interested in Astronomy for many years. In all that time I have had TWO sightings of objects that I just can't explain. This despite also being interested in aircraft which has explained many sightings over the years. The first sighting in 1960 just COULD have been birds, but I have never seen anything like it since. The second sighting, in 1974, though, defies all explanations. Even with 2019 technology, I can't come up with how this could have happened.

RE: A couple of hot cars on main street late today !

I think the Ford GT shown here is the second new version built in Canada. I think it has a V6, unlike the first series and the original British GT40 both of which had V8s , but is more powerful than either of them.

RE: Change the date of Halloween...?

I don't think it was for an extra hour of Trick or Treat, but so it's more daylight while the Trick-or-Treaters are out and about. Makes them a little more visible. That was the reason given around here as well!

Enough of this fun. Now for those who know Canada? I want to cross the border on 4th of July weekend, that comes on Thursday. Would Saturday be a low traffic day? Do we expect any extra traffic on the 4th in Canada at all? In Canada, July 4th is just the day between the 3rd and the 5th! I suppose it could be a little busier with a few Americans crossing the border to eat poutine and drink real beer. However wouldn't most be wanting to stay at home and spend the day saluting the flag and eating hot dogs?

RE: RCMP seek witnesses - Liard Hot Springs death investigation

Latest news is that has gone from three dead and two missing to three dead and two suspects on the run. The two missing teens from Port Alberni , where we used to live, are now suspects in maybe all three deaths!

RE: Hottest and most humid morning of the Summer !

Yesterday near Toronto, where our daughter lives, the combined heat and humidity was 47C or 117F . On Friday at a nearby hotel, there was a car at the front door with a Thule ski rack on the roof. Inside at the front desk, a couple was asking directions to the nearest ski hill. The vehicle had plates from a nearby state! I thought this was just an urban myth!

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

That could be an option, to import it from Mexico, but from what I can remember, which isn't that much as I wasn't really involved, was that the Mhome did not need to be imported into the US as it had already originated from the US and had been registered there for 14-15 years. Same as if it had to be brought back into Canada, it wouldn't have to be imported again. We'll see what happens as our friend has been in contact with the various authorities. Thanks for all your input on this , and I will let you know what happens.

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

Pardon me if Im missing something but What is the difference between Registration and Title? Isnt it the same thing? As far as I can tell, the 'Title' on a vehicle in the US, is similar to the 'Title' that we used to have on Real Estate here in BC, many years ago. It was an actual document that confirmed who owned the property. It was cumbersome, got lost, got forged, etc and was replaced by a simple registration at the Land Registry. It's similar with our vehicle registration, with the ownership recorded at a central registry. As an update, our friend has contacted the seller where they originally bought the unit in Texas, and they will be sending her the 'required documentation' whatever that means. !

RE: The moon last night

Aside from the 'catch', it was a great shot . especially with what I thought was the first rays of sunlight catching Sinus Iridium up in the top left. That streak must be a satellite as I think it's too small to be an aircraft. Trying to gauge the scale.

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

The motorhome was bought used in Texas a few years ago, and brought back to Canada, and registered it here. They did all the documentation, at the border, when they imported into Canada. Our friend is not aware of receiving the title when they bought it, as this could have been looked after by her husband, who is no longer alive. It's so frustrating to wait so long for it to be sold, and now that it looks as though it will be, the dealership doesn't know what to do! It's also frustrating that she found out about this last Friday evening when all the 'usual contacts' are closing for the weekend. !

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

Thanks for all your help with this. I have been passing all this on to her and she will forward it on to the dealership. I thought after I posted this last night that someone must have the original title!

RE: Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

Thanks for the info noteven! I should have added that the Mhome was purchased used in the US a few years , from Texas. This should even simplify matters, I would think. ?

Selling Canadian MHome in US with no title

A recently widowed friend of ours has consigned her Foretravel DP to a dealer in Phoenix for sale. We helped her move it down there at the end of last year. Vehicles in Canada, in our province anyway, do not have an actual title, but a registration with the province. The Mhome has now been sold, but the lack of a title now seems to be a real problem to the dealership and is suggesting that she go down there IN PERSON to complete the transaction. As this could entail one of us going down there with her, this would appear to be an expensive and unnecessary trip. Does any one out there have any experience with this? Posted here as more Canadians might see it. I did see somewhere that not all US states issue titles either?
