RE: Getting propane tanks in and out

My oldest son gave us a propane fire pit and one of those trade 20 pound propane tanks. Apparently it cost a little bit over $30 to trade for a full one. So I bought a new 20 pounder from Costco for the pit. Now I have 2 tanks for it.Both tanks have been emptied using them with the fire pit so I went to Costco had the trade in one checked to see when it was good to and that is 2027, so I had it filled and the cost was a tad over $18 a piece.

RE: Auxiliary Tank Combo

I have a 50 gallon trax 4 transferflow tank in the back of my dually. I have a long box. It's computer controlled which means it fills the main tank when it uses a few gallons and there's a gauge which sits on the dash and it tells me the total in both tanks and how much fuel has been used and when the tank is pumping into the main tank. . Mine is diesel. I had it installed 11 years ago and it is working like new. It fits under my tonneau cover as well. No tool box. With the main tank holding 36 gallons, I have a total of 86 gallons of fuel.

RE: Do you unhook for the night?

When we go out west we take 7 days to do it. We're not in s hurry. When we stop for the night I fuel up first with the 5er attached and then go to the campground where we will stay at for the night. The 5er doesn't get unhitched and the 3 slides are opened until it's time to go to bed.I just make sure the 5er is level. The bedroom slide remains open for the night. In the morning we get cleaned up, the wife make sandwiches for the road and we're off for another day of travelling. We can use the 5er without having to open the slides if we need to. It's a 2009 Cedar Creek. I always unplug from my truck for the night.

RE: black tank not venting?

I was rinsing the black tank when I decided to go into the 5er for something. As I walked around the side of the 5er I noticed water leaking over my basement storage door. I ran back and turned off the water to the black tank and pulled the dump handle. The black water dump hose then jumped up into the air and proceeded to dump all over me. So the moral of the story is, yes pressure can build up. The water leaking over the basement storage door was coming from the toilet. Just slowly leaking over the top of the toilet bowl. Glad I didn't try to flush the toilet. I have never left the side of the trailer while flushing the black tank since then.

RE: Potable Water Transportation

Check out Princess Auto. In their little Magazine I got yesterday I see some water bladders that they sell. I have 2 water bladders that I use when boondocking. Both are 50 gallons U.S. I pump from the bed of my truck into the 5er.I plug the pump into the 7 pin receptacle at the back of the truck. I bought the adapter at Princess Auto a few years back and I don't see them advertised on their website now.

RE: Step to reach hitch pin

I used to have a step that is put on the rear wheel. All metal. I have a dually and while reaching for something in the bed I put my knee onto the fender and when I put my weight on the fender, I put a ding in it. It's still there and I can see it every time I look in the driver's mirror. My 2 step has never given out on me when leaning over the fender. I just used it yesterday to fill my aux diesel tank. Fuel is pretty expensive right now and going up in price.

RE: Step to reach hitch pin

I use a 2 step folding plastic ladder. I stand it beside the rear wheel and reach over to the handle to lock it in place or unlock it. When travelling I put it on the floor in the back seat. When not travelling it goes into the bed of the truck. I also use it when fueling up. I have a 50 gallon aux fuel tank right behind the cab of the truck. I'm 230 lbs and it support this old body.

RE: Rocky Point Bike Rally

This would be the only type rally I would attend. I'm a Canadian Army vet and a retired Firefighter. I don't like country western music but I love this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWPMF2ax8TA

RE: genny conundrum

I owned a Honda 3000 genny. I used to haul it in the back of my truck. It was a beast to lift it up into the bed, that`s for sure. Then I got a toy hauler 5er and put the genny on a cart and rolled it in and out of the garage. Got rid of that toy hauler and got a regular 5er. Gave the 3ooo to my oldest son and bought 2 Hondas with the parallel kit. They go into the bed of my truck and are put inside a zip up type large bag that hold 2 5 gallon containers of gas and other things. Definitely easier for this 75 year old to handle. By the way, my other 2 kids(adults) have Honda 3000s for their power needs. We all boondock a lot. My 2 gennys are put at least 25 feet away from the back of the 5er and I run a rope between 2 trees and then put a plastic tarp up just high enough so I can walk in bent over to fill the gennys with gas when needed and keep the weather off of them. My 45 cents worth. Stay safe.

RE: Need Generator Help for New Sabre 36BHQ Owners....

I have a 5er and my 2 Hondas are hooked up away from the trailer. I was a Fire Fighter for 35 years and and I certainly wouldn't want to hear about Carbon Monoxide getting into the trailer because it was sitting under the front end of the trailer. In my opinion extend the umblical cord away from the trailer and then plug into the gennys. You can make a tent for the gennys, using plastic tarps, to protect them from the weather. Be safe.

RE: Ontario: Motorhome yellow sticker exemption?

There are many tractors that have been reclassified as motorhomes. Go to this page and you can ask all the questions you want. There are a few people from Ontario on this site also. https://www.rvnetwork.com/forum/32-hdt/
