RE: onan 4k gen

When I had one, I fogged the engine after draining the carb. Never exercised it. I used stabil in the gas all the time.

RE: Border closure extended..again

Wife and I have a place to head to for beefsteak tomatoes just outside of Leamington, Ontario. BlTs two days ago and just good old tomatoe sandwiches yesterday for lunch. 6 for $3. Nice drive from here. Gets us out of the house during this time of COVID.

RE: 5th Wheel with no dually truck

I have a dually and it is my daily driver. I don't have a problem with it at all. It is 9 years old and a diesel, long box, 4 door and seats 5 people.I haul a 35 ft 5er with it. In my opinion there isn't any reason to be leery about using a dually as a daily driver. My 3 cents

RE: Is a stabilizer jack for fifth wheel hitch worth the money?

Mine has been holding up the wall in my shed, where it's been placed to store, for years. I installed the steady fast system on my 5er.

RE: 12-volt power for macerator pump

I use the house batteries for power. I extended the cord from the macerator by using an extension that I made up with alligator clips to grab onto the battery posts. Actually it has alligator clips on both ends so I just connect to the alligator clips on the macerator and I used the same coloured wires, number 10, so there isn't a mistake in hooking up.Works for me.

RE: Most dont sanitize water heater?

I sanitize mine with bleach. Have had that rotten egg smell a few times over the years and the water came from a well at the campgrounds we stayed at. I dump about half a cup or a little more into the WH,fill with water, let it sit for a few hours than drain, rinse and fill for using.

RE: Red wire, black wire and white wires

In my 5er the ground wire from the battery bank is easy to follow to where it goes to ground. I would suggest, if you can, follow the wires to see which one goes to ground.

RE: Mattress

We had a queen specially made to the measurements of the bed area in the 5er. We did that after the trailer was broken into and the bedding, including the memory foam topper was taken. It was made by the company that we bought our first queen size mattress from, when we moved into this house. We really like that mattress so they asked for the model number that was still on the old mattress and built it to our measurements. Sadly they have since closed down. It wasn't cheap but it sure is nice to sleep on a great mattress.

shun02 don't let nothing but fear, stupidity and common sense hold you back from doing whatever you want to do.

shum02, well all I can say is give it a try with one of these provinces and then come back here and let us know how you made out.
Pipeman 06/01/20 04:50am RVing in Canada and Alaska

Well there are some provinces that have closed their borders to outsiders and maybe more joining. You may have to copy and paste this.

RE: Oops ??

A friend put a hole in the wall of his brand spanking new trailer backing it into his driveway for the first time.He backed into a sturdy tree branch. After much crying and pondering on how to fix it, he bought an outside lite, fastened it to the side of the trailer and it looks like it belongs there. So you can hide these mishaps in various ways.

We already have a reservation in Waterton Lakes National Park from June 29 to July 9 but if the park doesn't cancel the reservations because they aren't going to be open by that date then we will cancel. We usually cross the border into the States and take #2 hwy to Montana and then head north to Alberta. The border may not be open at that time so I figured out a Canadian route but the provincial boundaries may not be open to non essential travel either. In my opinion it's way too early to be opening up anything and I'll bet this pandemic will pick up again because of lax rules and people.

Last I heard was that they were opening up provincial campgrounds and they are not open to people from out of province. The national parks are opening up to day trips and no camping but may open up to camping on June 21.

RE: Locating trailer hot wire underhood source 2017 GM

I've made it a habit to unplug from my 2011 GMC dually everytime we stop for the night or not going to be traveling for a day or so and not unhitching. The one time I didn't unplug my truck batteries in my 2001 GMC went dead after leaving the trailer plugged in over night before leaving on a trip. Maybe the batteries were going bad at that time but it never happened again because I unplugged. My 42 cents worth.

RE: Morryde Step Above

I have torklift steps. I love them as does my wife who has had both hips and knees replaced. They are very steady compared to the diving board we had before. My trailer is in a storage lot and the guy next to me parked fairly close to our 5er but my steps can be pulled out just enough so I can use them to get into the 5er. Now I really don't care what steps you have as we have the steps that work for us. I bought them after doing research, I installed them my self and that's that. If you like what you have, fanbloodytastic.

RE: What is your favorite indoor-outdoor thermometer?

I have a 5th wheel so I hang the outside sender under the pin box on the umbilical cord with a piece of Velcro that wraps around the cord. That way I don't forget to put it away when traveling.

RE: getting trapped inside a park

Towed my son`s TT to his storage spot. Had to cross an open field that looked pretty good....until......about 50 feet short of the road I would drive out on after dropping his trailer. I have a dually with 4x4. The truck and trailer bogged down in the muddy grass. Put the beast into 4 wheel drive and tried to back out of the go. Tried to go forward, no go. So we decided to drop the trailer where it was and then with much backward and forward motion I was able to free the truck from the deep ruts. Just as I turned onto the road, the owner came with his tractor. He hooked up to the trailer and moved it ahead to the storage position. The field did look good until near the storage spot. Not doing that again. My son`s truck was in the shop and that`s why I did the towing for him.

RE: King pin stabilizer ?

My stabilizer has been in my shed, holding up air, for a number of years now. I use steady fast and am pleased with them.

RE: Truck bed plug or just use plug in bumper for 5th wheel

I use my bumper plug always. I have one in the bed. It's easier to plug into the bumper. Where the h*ll did that come from????
