RE: Changes to Snowbird lifestyle and Snowbird communitiess

A Sept article in the Anchorage newspaper on the Border closure Extension said CBC says they're allowing 5 crossings per day in the "Western States". It's allowing crossings at 5 border crossings, not 5 crossings per day.

RE: BC Residents only

I was planning a fishing trip to Ucluelet this summer. I'm from Alberta. Here's the message I rec'd yesterday from the company that I used to book our accomodations: "For Canadians traveling across interprovincial borders by car, there is a possibility that they will be stopped at a checkpoint and asked to provide documentation of cottage ownership. If you are unable to produce it, then you may be forced to turn back. In order to meet Provincial Health guidelines and Work-safe BC guidelines we must adhere to the guidelines of this ever changing situation. Where inter provincial travel is not permitted there will be a local requirement that we check ID from travelers to ensure they are residents of BC Road checks have been ongoing at the Tofino and Ucluelet junction to date over all long weekends and holidays, as the summer months come on they most likely will become a daily occurrence." Sounds to me like they are advising against any out-of-province travel to BC. This accommodation was in a commercial rental not a campground. :(

RE: Need advice on TIP

I agree, but they will have the final word and attempt to take your vehicle away. Without a cell signal or a handheld, how will you prove that the vehicle has legal TIP? In fifteen years of traveling around Mexico with my truck and 5th, I have been stopped exactly once at a checkpoint and asked to produce my TIP papers. I said it would take me a few minutes to dig through my papers and find them, so they asked me to pull off the Hwy because we were blocking traffic. I refused because the area where they wanted me to pull off was not suitable or safe to pull my 5th into. After a couple minutes they waived me on and I went on my way. The point of all this is that #1 it is doubtful that you will ever get stopped and asked for your TIP papers by a Transito. #2 If you do get stopped and you are concerned the Transito is corrupt or whatever, just refuse the same way you would refuse any other corrupt cop looking for mordida. What are they going to do.....ask for a higher bribe?

RE: Need advice on TIP

Are you actually going to refuse to show paperwork to a transito if they ask for it? Certainly. Why wouldn't you?

RE: Need advice on TIP

I have heard this on another forum as well. If it is true and they eliminate the sticker, there will be a lot of reason for transitos to stop people to check their papers opening the door to even more corruption. Maybe there's something I don't know. Supposedly, they will be able to check on line via cell phone. That doesn't sound good to me if some yokel stops you in Quitzcatzicatl. BUT, Transitos are not authorized to check your TIP. The only authorities that can ask to see your TIP are Federales and Aduana.

RE: Diesel Fuel for newer diesels

It might have been ulsd. Regardless your Volvo will have emission problems if you use lsd. Hrck Volvos and Cascadias hve emission problems with the correct fuel. I font know if your truck uses an integrated system like the fl one box. If it does repairs to that can be many thousands. That is an expensive nice rig I sure would not use the wrong fuel Well my neighour's cousin knows a guy whose barber says...…. Oooops,I forgot I posted that the OP should only listen to "actual experience" and not to listen to opinions.. Looks like you may have forgot that too.

RE: Diesel Fuel for newer diesels

The president of mexico would disagree with you. Pemex has a public statement of the areas that will receive ulsd from Pemex. I dont think that pv is one of those areas. Could you point us all to that public statement from Pemex, please? And that does NOT include that poorly written article on Reuters. Your expetience is o ly pnr vehicle. There are others that will have similar experiences There are hundreds of others with similar experience. How about you buy a 2020 pu and see the results. You can continue using any fuel as youdont have much to lose. A person with a new high dollar vehicle might think differently . That is absolutely ridiculous! Are you really trying to suggest that I didn't have as much to lose when I purchased a brand new pickup in 2013 and drove it to Mexico? Ridiculous!!! Ed Behnke is a long time member and he should not risk damage to his vehicle because one petsontells him it is ok Perhaps you should consider taking a remedial reading course. I didn't tell Ed Behnke that it was OK, I told him to listen to people with actual experience, not people just spouting their opinions. After he listens to peoples' actual experiences, he can make his own decision on whether he wants to take any risk that he perceives. At least then he will be making an informed decision, not just relying on conjecture. Moisheh

RE: Diesel Fuel for newer diesels

The first thing you need to do is to disregard the opinions of the nay-sayers who are blowing smoke on a topic they have no actual experience with, and look for information from people with verifiable actual experience. I have a 2013 Chev 3500HD that has travelled to Puerto Vallarta every year since it was new. That's SEVEN trips to PV and back, and I have had ZERO fuel-related issues. I haul a 5th there and back, and I use my truck as a daily driver for the 5 months I spend there each year. Certainly there are a few little things you need to do to avoid problems, the most important of which is to make sure your truck gets up to full operating temperature each time you drive it, and also don't let it sit and idle for any length of time. Letting it sit and idle for a lengthy time will bring on the Check Engine light even back in the US or Canada using ULSD. Also don't believe the nay-sayers who spout their opinions that ULSD is not available anywhere but at the border. I have a Pemex Delivery Report all the way back in 2017 showing ULSD being delivered to stations in PV and my friend who provided this to me assures me that nothing has changed since then. Opinions are worthless, actual experience is what you need to look for.

RE: Great News, Pumping Real Diesel for 5 More Years

Semantics. I think the article means to say that companies means non Pemex franchise holders I agree....semantics.

RE: Great News, Pumping Real Diesel for 5 More Years

The link is in the first post It lists the states where ulsd will be sold by Pemex. Amlo had to change the date for availability as they cannot produce very much. Amlo is upset as they lose money on imported fuel. He is battling with Pemex. Well, I'm not too sure that states anywhere that "Pemex is not allowed to import ULSD in most states. Period." It does state that "Pemex can continue marketing ULSD only in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey - Mexico’s three largest cities - and on the northern border". it THEN GOES ON TO STATE THAT "In the rest of Mexico, companies may choose which type of diesel they will offer." One could (and should) easily read the statement as meaning Pemex will continue marketing ULSD ONLY (as in No LSD allowed) in Mexico City etc, as has been the practice for several years now.
