RE: Recommended tools for a newbie

I carry two 25' water hoses and a 15' 50 amp extension cord. I only needed one or the other twice. 15' and 10' sewer hose, used the extension several times. For tools: a digital volt meter, Wago wire connectors, misc wire. 3/8 and 1/4 drive scoket set. Screwdrivers, including a #2 square, pliers, hacksaw blade w/ holder, locking pliers, couple of flashlights. Duct tape, electrical tape, blue tape, wire ties, Loctite Blue. Spare water filter. Mouse traps. Older 12v battery drill and drill bits. But wait there's more...But I'd have to inventory.

RE: Hospital RV park closing

That is sad to hear. Our local local hospitals has 30 amp and water hookups and I brought our motorhome there while our then 14 year grandson was in for 16 days. It really reduced pressure for our daughter as she stayed with him 24/7. She could get a few hours of solid sleep and a shower especially after he turned the corner and could still be only a few minuets away if something happened.

RE: Maintenance Schedule !

Back in the day I was at work one morning when my wife called. She had taken her 2010 Jeep Liberty to a Firestone location for an oil change. I asked her to have them replace one of the rear blinker bulbs. When I answered the phone all I heard was her voice, angrily, saying...TALK TO THE MAN! The next voice I heard was the Firestone service mgr. greeting me and suggesting that they run...and I kid you not...a blinker system diagnostic for only $29.95. He added that this diagnostic would determine just why the bulb needed replacing and to reveal any other "critical" issues in the circuit. I caught myself starting to laugh...out loud...but I managed to suppress that and suggested that they just replace the bulb and see what happens. That was the last time she took her car to that shop. My experience with a Firestone store in about 1973 was I needed ball joints, they had about 50k miles on them. Don't recall how many miles I had when I traded the car in but never had a problem. Never been back to Firestone again.

RE: Fun Fact about Oregon State Parks

Well we are currently hosting at Silver Falls and have had a almost a full month of snow! Isn't there a plan in place to add a larger campground? Seems like I read something about it. Haven't been up there in a long time, need to get there again.

RE: Residential Frig doors lock

If this company makes one for your model of refrigerator (which you didn't mention), it's the best there is: Link RobAnd the customer service is WOW. I broke my original, no fault of the product, and he shipped me a new one free of charge.

RE: Filing up DEF

To help prevent DEF in the fuel and fuel in the DEF. I am sure you would be fine and professional drivers... but we are talking about the general public here. Don't be so sure about the "Professional drivers." I worked for a large LTL truck line. One of the alleged professional drivers topped the fuel tank with DEF. Truck only had about 50K miles on it, toasted the engine. Last I heard it was recommended that he seek other employment.

RE: pocket knife

Put me in the camp that I have always carried a pocket knife as long as I can remember. I switched to a Leatherman when I started working nights. My question, how to conveniently carry it and a mini-flashlight now that I switched to suspenders? I tried the belt and suspenders route but didn't like. I now just put one in each front pocked but I really miss them on a belt.

RE: Daytime Running Lights.

Reach down and turn on the headlights when you want DRL. Beats worming under the dash to find a fuse.

Last I knew FMCA had a deal 50/month unlimited 4G as I recall. SPRINT was the carrier when I had it (Now merged with T-Mobile) ...They dumped Sprint/T-Mobile some time ago and went back to AT&T but with a slight price increase, but still a good deal IMO. I do not recall all the details but they were also allowing for you to bring your own hotspot but you need to jump through some hoops to do so. Right now the FMCA site is saying " Due to AT&T hotspots being out of stock we must temporarily shut down TechConnect+ signups. We are being told by AT&T that new hotspots should be back in stock sometime in November 2022, and that signups for the benefit can resume." I had the Sprint hotspot for awhile and it was useless.

RE: Southern Utah with kids

Your profile says Seattle, is that the start point? Do you have a proposed route yet? I'm asking as you might want a stop or two to let them run and burn off some P&V. How much time do you have? There is some good sounding water parks in the greater SLC area when I was researching for a similar trip with the grandkids. I'm sending you a PM.

RE: A punishing pace, safety issues and broken bodies

I noticed the woman in the start of the story worked in a non-union shop. People today say "We don't need no stinking unions" She proves.. We still do.Agreed. Just recently there was an article about the ragged pace at UPS sort Louisville that make it sound worse than the slaves at Amazon.
