RE: Replacements for Roof Top AC's

Depending on whether the units return is at the unit or has a ducted return, Newmar can be a bear to get the right replacement. We had a Mountain Aire DP that we evently got Newmar to send the right plenum divider to work.

RE: How to safely operate a B & W Patriot 16k 5th wheel hitch

About 3 years ago I backed up into my companion, did a test pull and got out of the truck to be interrupted by a neighbor. Ended up towing about 60 miles when I discovered I had not pinned the jaws. After an almost heart attack, we finished that trip. B&W is the best on the market made totally in the USA.

We’ve had this 2018 Cardinal trailer for 1 1/2 years, have traveled over 12,000 miles and 200 nights. We bought and have used a Camco 50 Amp power defender for this trailer at a good discount and are pleased. It will disconnect with low and extremely high voltage, protect with pedestal wiring problems and 4,200 Jules surge.

RE: F250 3.73 to 4.30 axle ratio

Get the trailer first as 3.73 will pull just fine a few times. Gears do not increase payload, just increases the combined weight rating. Cost to swap is $900 to $1,500. He has a 4X4 which will be closer to $4500.

RE: brakes on a double tow

Go with the surge brakes. You will never get the electric brakes timed to the fiver.

RE: Tybee Island, GA. Rivers End Campground./Info Appreciated

The Georgia coastline is ground zero to our crop of no-see-ums. They are the flying teeth of the south. No matter what you put on them, the only relief is a stiff breeze.

RE: Do I need sway control on my trailer if my truck has TSC?

I turned my trucks sway control off on my 16, F250. I found it over reacted when I was towing our old 30WB work and play while using the Blue Ox sway hitch.

RE: Tool box in a long bed?

My tool box sits about 6” above the bed rails on our Ford. I’ve towed 2 different fifthwheels 70-80,000 miles without any problem. I don’t make a habit of jackknifing my trailer.

RE: Stainless steel screws

Thousands of very expensive boats are built yearly bolting aluminum T tops to fiberglass using stainless fasteners.

RE: ? "Easy" Way to Clean Patio Mat?

If you ordered a real Patio Mat, you can just sweep it as you fold it back up. Unless you camp in mud, sweeping will do the trick.

RE: New Truck 4x4 or 4x2 ??

2 WD will hurt the resale or trade in. Around here, NE Florida, a dealer will have 80% 4WD trucks on the lot. His available 2 wd trucks will be less fancy, work truck models.. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a lariat Ford 250 in 2 WD.

RE: Georgia camping

We have camped and travelled all over Georgia and their wonderful state parks. Liked north Georgia so much, we are building a new home in Blairsville.

RE: Georgia camping

Most all state parks in GA are still open to camping and the governor opened beaches local governments had closed.

RE: Intermittant A/C

If your A/C fan is in the automatic fan setting, the units fan will stop and shift speeds trying to adapt to the thermostats setting when ambient temp and setting temp are 3-4 degrees apart.. Try putting the fan in low or high speed when temperature differential is several degrees apart.

RE: Resealing DRV A/C Dometic Penguin II Unit On Roof

Those lag bolts that hold a/c unit on to the roof on many of the new RVs with no visible means of attachment on the inside are a huge source of possible water as they are outside the a/c seal and/or shroud. Be SURE they are properly sealed. Many a/c units are leaking into the roof on these types of a/c units unknow to the owner since it is not likely to show up on the inside due to the insulation and ceiling panel particularly if a vinyl/padded ceiling. The only way I discovered I had water intrusion was, I took the bedroom’s fantastic fan inner shroud trim piece off so that I could place a mouse trap up in the insulation cavity, and saw the roof plywood dark and wet. There ya go! Trust me, there are many, many others with the same situation and don't know it. There are 3 units on my fifth wheel. After a heavy rain,I discovered a small drip of water at the most rear register actually behind where the a/c is mounted. Thought at first it was condensation. After another heavy rain, drip drip. I then torqued all the lag bolts on all 3 to 50” pounds which has stopped any visible leak.

RE: Resealing DRV A/C Dometic Penguin II Unit On Roof

I had a leak problem with a new Cardinal. The unit was bolted down from the roof with lag bolts. I contacted the manufacturer who stated they should be torque down to 50” (inch) pounds. I did and no more leak. If that does not work then you will have to order a seal.
