RE: Nice Story about class C use

Good on you, mate. Glad you were able to enjoy your RV and make such good use of it. We were not so lucky this year but there is always next year!

RE: Spouse left behind after death at a Campsite, what to do?

Due to my precarious situation and high-risk life style (I frequently sass my wife and 'forget' to do assigned tasks) my wife early on made sure she was capable of doing everything necessary to break down camp and get home by herself. In fact I have come back to the camp from taking a solo hike to find that she decided to run a drill and had left. So, as regards the RV portion, she is well trained and able. In regards to disposition of my body, once again, planning ahead pays dividends. She bought an extra-large gas propane fire pit. Her plan, she tells me, is to simply cremate me on the spot. She did, however, give me some input on her plan. She has agreed to spread my ashes on the floor of our local Eddie Bauer outlet store. This way I know she will come frequently to visit me.

RE: Remembering my best physical condition

When I graduated HS my next door neighbor was the station master for the Southern Pacific RR. Knowing that I didn't really know what I wanted to do he hired me as a gandy dancer. That meant I went around with a team where there was a minor repair needed that didn't warrant bringing in the big equipment. Had to drive a LOT of spikes using a spike maul and toted ties back and forth. My arms especially filled out. Then I got drafted and the first time we had PT I assure you I was grateful for those arms!

Tent Trailer Set Up Question

Decades ago we owned a tent trailer and greatly enjoyed using it. Eventually we moved on and finally got a Class C Bigfoot. Lately my wife and I have been thinking about selling the C and returning to a tent trailer. However, we are both approaching 80 and are concerned if the tasking of pulling out the beds and hooking up their supports is still as difficult as we remember. If it is then we are unlikely to go that route. Have they found a new, EASY way to do this? If so which make and model would have the new system? Looking for a high sided model with wet bath. Thanks for any info.

Merry Christmas!

During the height of the pandemic my wife decided that because we could not have our big family Christmas, we would leave our decorated tree up until we could get everyone together. Yesterday it finally happened. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, etc, the whole shebang. The best thing was that we have several grandkids in the service and they can never get leave simultaneously. That is, until yesterday! Two sailors and one marine celebrated with their 15 cousins, eight aunts or uncles and their spouses, and one very proud set of grandparents. One sailor was even surprised by her boyfriend, who is currently stationed on the USS Hawaii. Instead of having to swelter inside a hot Santa suit this year I got to wear red cut-offs, white t-shirt, red sweat band, black suspenders, and black flip-flops. Makes me envy our Australian friends!

RE: How old is too old?

I think you are getting forgetful. You asked this same question months ago. That's just mean!! :)

RE: How would you answer this question ?

It was a lot easier to be over there with your peers, enduring what you had to, than to come hoime to those you loved to be spit upon. Some scars still hurt. Amen brother!

New Sailor in the Family

Well, just watched the online graduation of my granddaughter at the Great Lakes Naval Base. She joins three of my grandsons in the service. Currently I have one Marine based in Portland, Oregon, one Marine somewhere in Northern Iraq with MARSOC, and one sailor somewhere in the Pacific in a fast attack sub. If this keeps happening I am going to have my whole front window covered with blue stars! It would be difficult for me to be much prouder of my grandkids than I already am!
