RE: Can you buy in one state and register in another

Need to set up your new domicile address 2-3 months ahead to show bank, credit card or bills showing the new address to the DMV and Tax office to prove that you "moved" to the new address. It's not difficult setting up a domicile. used to have an excellent guide on how to set up a domicile.

RE: Can you buy in one state and register in another

The out of state dealer will provide temporary plates if you purchase outside of Florida. It's fairly easy to register a vehicle in Florida and suggest making an appointment with the Florida DMV to save time waiting. Consider setting up your domicile in Crestview, FL with who has been great to work with.

RE: Do you run house AC while on the road

Currently in eastern US where we haven't boondocked much. Ran the AC last week and put the thermostat down to 67 to run a couple of our ACs to exercise the generator. Did it again 1.5 months ago. I emagine we'll run them during the hot days when travelling this summer.

RE: Death Wobble Continues ....

Bungee cords holding the steering wheel snugly but not locked in place will help. I've been thinking of doing this if my toad starts to wobble.

RE: domicile confused

What we did was sign up for the mail forwarding service and changed our address on everything so it started going there. A couple months later we actually went to the state, got the vehicle titles transferred and registered, got our drivers license, changed our insurances to that state, set up banking, registered to vote. It then became our legal domicile/residence and we were given at street address to use at that time for things that require a street address. We did it in the middle of the year and filed our taxes as residents of out old state for part of the year and non-resident the rest of the year. Our new state does not have a state tax. The federal was filed using the new domicile address. The tax part officially documented our move from our old state to the new. We have since filed for our social security and medicare using that same address with no problems. 2X - good writeup. Need to set up your new domicile address 2-3 months ahead to show bank, credit card or bills showing the new address to the DMV and Tax office to prove that you "moved" to the new address. It's not difficult setting up a domicile.

RE: voting and driver license issues with full time

We have no problem using a PMB for banking, investments, taxes, social security and medicare, insurance etc. We have never had anyone refuse to accept the address. We change PMB to Apt # . It's been 10 years and not a problem. ( PS - Some mail services provide a street address without a PMB that can be used when needed if a situation does happen). PS - someone mentioned Good Sam and Crestview FL -- maybe ? I do know that Passport America provides a full-timers mail service and their address is Crestview FL. in Crestview FL also handles Good Sams mailing business and they've been great to work with. I called the Okaloosa Co Tax and DMV offices in Florida prior to setting our domicile there to ask about voting, etc....

RE: beginner full-time

Escapees used to have an excellent guide on how to set up a domicile and suggest checking that out. For us, selling the stuff in the home was the most difficult part of going full time. I've backpack camped prior to kids and took them tent camping every year. Below is our 1st RV and it's not been a problem for us switching to it. We've read, read and read blogs and forums for 10+yrs prior to going full time. Lot's of great info on line now to help you along.

RE: Florida domicile people do you stay 6 months there?

No for sure you don't need to spend 6 months in FL. We flew into Crestview FL scheduled 5 days to set up the domicile and actually did it in one afternoon. May take longer because we just switched our Montana LLC registration in April to FL and took 3 hrs waiting in line at the Crestview DMV office. Supposedly can set up appointments now to save time at the DMV office. Afterwards we went to a lawyer to set up our living will. You need to set up a mailing address ASAP to show bills with your new FL address. We use who has been great to work with for just over 1.5yrs now.

RE: Domicle not getting caught?

In mid 2019, we flew into Florida, set up our domicile in Crestview, FL at the Okaloosa Co Office (both DMV and residence/voting) and it took less than a day. We're using as our P.O. address (they also handle Good Sams mail). You don't need to be in Florida any length of time to establish the domicile. You do though need to switch your address and banking/credit card accounts to the new Florida address prior to going to get the licences, etc... to show monthly statements that you've "moved". Used to be good info on Escapees website showing how to set up a domicile. In fact, we were just in Crestview to switch our Montana registrations to Florida. It was a longer wait this time at the DMV office and found out you can set up an appointment in advance. Feel free to call the DMV in Okaloosa Co because I found them to be very helpful. Oh, you can also establish the Domicile and get drivers licences w/o registering a vehicle/s in the state.

RE: Ceramic Waxes

Been using Rejex on the rig. Thinking I'm switching to Wash Wax All after seeing a neighbors full time 2016 rig treated with nothing else. No scratches and looks really good. I like McKee's 37 Gloss Tire gel in a big way. I see they now have a ceramic tire treatment.

RE: Bugs on Windshield

2X on Rejex especially if you can get a few coats on the front cap, windshield and mirrors over six months period it lasts for a long time. Just use warm water and a sponge. RainX repels water better but Rejex lasts lots longer. I use Rejex on the entire rig and it also contains UV protection.

RE: Tow Bar Suggestions

4 or 5X on the Ready Brute Elite 2 (latest model last I knew). Not that difficult to set up yourself. There were videos showing how to install the baseplate, the towbar and the roadmaster diode lights on our Jeep GC. If you have a popular toad you might find some videos too.

RE: Going Full Time Soon - Health Insurance and Mail

We use based in Crestview, Fl. They also handle Good Sams Mail. Florida is a good choice to set up a domicile especially if you're under 65 since the last I knew, SD and TX don't offer nationwide PPO health insurance coverage. We purchased our health insurance via: We purchased our motorhome insurance via:

RE: Tips/Tricks/info on Full-time RV'ing For Beginners

Read read and read more. There's lots of information on line. The Escapees RV Club has good tips on how to establish a domicile. Out of the 1.5yrs we've been full timing, probably boondocked a total of one month so we won't be getting any solar system. Can boondock a wk if we're careful running the generator 3hrs in the morning and 2.5hrs in the evening in our all electric rig. Best part is we love this lifestyle!

RE: Tow Bar Suggestions

4X on the Ready Brute Elite. Since the CRV was a very popular toad, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a YouTube video showing the installation of the base plate. The tow bar and self installation make for a low cost setup vs other options. Also recommend the Road Master brake light kit with diodes and there's likely a video on that too. Took me 3 days to do mine but I wasn't in a rush either.

RE: Where to watch rocket launch in or near motorhome?

Watched a launch from Pad 39A earlier this month. Playalinda Beach #1 is closed but we parked at the next beach to the north Playalinda 2 (very close to Playalinda 1). Walked up the beach past Playalinda 1 to where they blocked us from going further. I understand it's better to watch elsewhere if a launch occurs at another pad.

RE: Washing RV while traveling

We full time and we've been able to stay at JUST enough locations that allow us to wash the RV. Typically have to pay $10 do do so.... If we're at a location that doesn't allow washing, I use a dry wash product. Too cheap to pay somebody and fortunately my rig looks good at this point

RE: Washer and dryer suggestions

Newmar switched from Whirlpool to Splendide during the 2020 model years due to complaints with the stacked Whirlpools. The stacked Splendides work but naturally not as well as the S&B units. Set up the dryer to exhaust outside. Not sure if all the combo units are set up to exhaust outside.
