Border crossing Canada into US

I provided this info in hopes that others could benefit from it. Not to have my integrity called into question. I've deleted the info. because I'm not going to address every nay sayer. Good luck.

RE: Charging system

I wonder if you could be more explicit what happened when. You mentioned you took the coach out for 3 hours and the check engine came on. I assume that was when you were driving but you also said you shut off some lights and the AC (air conditioner?) and the light went out. Or did you drive somewhere and spend the night then in the morning start the coach and you had a check engine light? Were you plug in over night? Anyway, if you could tell us the exact sequence of events it would help. Sorry for your loss. We are in the NH Seacoast by the way.

RE: Cummins RV Service Kenly, NC

We were there for a couple of days 11 years ago. At that time they were good.

RE: Breakowns while travelling

I broke down in Melbourne, FL. Got the motorhome off the highway and into a park n ride. Going in I noticed a beautiful red Peterbilt tractor rig. Called Coachnet and the sent a small tow truck that would have had a hard time towing a VW. The tow truck guy called Coachnet and told them to send a big tow truck. One arrived 3 hours later. This tow truck guy said his tow truck could do it but he'd never towed a big diesel pusher. He didn't want to tow it. Having owned this DP for 2 years I knew everything that could cause these symptoms and sure enough it was the last thing I checked. The engine cooling fan had fallen off. Anyway, around 11 p.m. a car pulls in and the driver asks what's wrong. I told him the fan fell off and he said no way. The women with him pointed to the immaculate Peterbilt from Toronto, CA and said that's his. He asked if he could take a look. I said if that tractor is yours you can do what you want. 1 hour later he found almost all that parts and between me, the tow truck driver and I we supplied the rest. He put the fan back on and we were on our way. I was saved by a very nice Canadian trucker. The chassis manufacturer who had always blamed a bolt for failing now knew why the other fans had fallen off their chassis.

RE: Campground suggestions for northeast

Lake George RV park in Lake George NY is very nice. Lots to see and do in the area. Should be beautiful at this time of the year.

RE: New England states

Of the area from W Virginia to Maine, if you have never been to the northeast, I'd say the Maine coast is a must. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park (NP). Stay at Bar Harbor CG. Boothebay is nice (Shorehills CG). Day trips to Rockland and Camden. You can see the Kennebunkport and Ogunquit area from Bayley's CG in Scarborough. Portland, NH is great and you could stay at Wakeda CG in Exeter, NH (ask for one of their very long pull thru's. The Lakes region of NH is fantastics. Meredith Woods CG in Meredith is good. From there day trips to Franconia Notch and across the Kancamagus Highway to Conway, NH. The best CG to see Boston is Normandy Farms in Foxboro, MA. Take rt. 495 around Boston to Foxboro. Boston is a great walking city. Take the train into it from Normandy Farms. From there I would head to Lake George, NY and stay at Lake George CG. A lot of history in that area. Lots to see and do. You could take a day trip to the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory and Ben and Jerry's Factory. I would spend my time between Lake George and Bar Harbor and skip the rest of the northeast if this is your first trip.

RE: New Orleans

We have traveled 81 in Oct, Nov. and as late as Dec every year for the last 14-15 years. We have never been delayed and that includes a 3rd week in Dec. last year when the fuel started to gel.

RE: Towing through Canada, worth it?

We just crossed the border 2 days ago from Canada back into Maine. We were pulled aside and had to wait 1 hour while border patrol went through the MH including having me unlock safes. The also went through all the bays and looked in the engine compartment. It was the wife and 2 of our grandkids. They did confiscate a couple of tomato's and kiwis. A few years ago we went from Buffalo to Sarnia to save the trip around the lake. This time the Canadians took 1 hour to go through the MH. 90% of the time though they ask a few questions and we're on our way. It's a **** shoot. But I'd agree with those that consider the time savings and expensive fuel to make it not worth doing.

RE: Towing my enclosed motorcycle trailer behind my Class A

I have a 45' MH and a stacker trailer that measures 30' from the ball to the back. The shorter the trailer compared to the length of the MH the more difficult it gets to back up. I wouldn't want to back up a very short trailer with my MH. I try to back up into an area using the side of the trailer I can see in the mirrors to guide me. I like to have a spotter make sure my blind side is not in any kind of danger. I havde a camera on the back of the MH but I also have a camera on the back of the stacker. I don't use it so much during the back up process because I'm focused on the mirrors. But I do use it to make sure I've backed up as far as I want to go and no further. Is your issue because the trailer is short and it wants to turn quickly?

RE: Toad Set Up

We had 2 CR-V's and used Roadmaster All Terrains. In fact I've used the same tow bar from '03 to '18 with no issues including towing a truck with a motorcycle in the back.

Watch the weather for a window to get to the nearest interstate then go. Enjoy retirement.

RE: Baltimore Harbor Class C Virginia heading to Rhode Island

I assume the question relates to Propane on your Class C. If so you can't take a tunnel but you can take 695 and over the bridge.

RE: Almost destroyed my 37’ RV, on an 8’8” Low height bridge

As others have said, at least in New England, Parkways are for cars only. Here's a NY site that lists all NY Parkways and why you aren't allowed on them with a truck, trailer, etc. Parkways in NY

RE: So who really uses the coach dishwasher

We use ours all the time. We do use the short wash mode which works fine.
