RE: Star Trek fans

Not Trek per se, but I had the Star Wars Imperial March as my "incoming mail from the Boss" music..... Favorite episode of TOS was The Trouble with Tribbles.....

RE: Old Air Compressors-Safety Hazards-Heads Up

yep. Store it at 50% pressure. Unplug it when not in use. Relieve the regulator to zero. Drain the water from the tank religiously.

RE: Smoked Pork Belly - Super Dave?

"use a long, thin, and sharp knife to cut the rind (the dark outer bark of the bacon) along the length of the slab. This piece is edible, but it will probably be very salty and it won’t be the best expression of the bacon" I'd think this part would be GREAT for a big pot of beans?

RE: Susanville, CA to Bend, OR

Bit of a toss up, but I'd take Hwy 139 to Klamath Falls, Hwy 97 out of KF to Bend is an easy drive but a bit boring till you meet up around Hwy 58. This!^^^^^^^^

RE: ANTS

Regular old blue Windex will take out ants just about instantly. Then just wipe them up! https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHcOTTDdy9J6Xj-f0wZXjKNPgOGkxlhNWddpFnDzQTBWw4JQgpdEpW_Th0XrIFT-93W5rUwI4&usqp=CAc

RE: Dry as a bone,…again

Question for you - how FAST are you filling the tank to begin with? Don't crank the faucet/hose bib all the way on - just a quarter turn will take longer, sure. But it'll allow the air to escape too.

RE: 2nd bottle won't discharge any LP after switching

Can you change the tanks from side to side? That'd narrow the problem down to the tank, at least.

RE: CA 178 from Bakersfield to Lake Isabella

Once you enter the canyon, the first few miles are windy and kinda tight. Then at about the 12 mile mark, the road switches sides of the river and it opens up into a new easy road all the way to the town of Isabella.

RE: Autopay anyway!

While somewhat on-topic, some advice I got from a CPA years ago was this: 2 cards - one for everyday purchases (gas, restaurant, groceries, etc), and a debit card from AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BANK, loaded with only a small amount, for online purchases. That way if the online card number gets hacked, or compromised somehow, the bad guys don't have access to your "main" accounts.

RE: Harbor Freight - what happened to the 20% off coupons

And how many cordless tool ads are labeled "Tool Only" meaning you have to buy a battery separately? Example: 20v Hypermax™ Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2 In. Drill/Driver - Tool Only $44.99. So you have to buy a battery - Cheapest is: 20v HyperMax™ Lithium-Ion 1.5 Ah Compact Battery for $22.99. Of course the battery is useless without a charger, cheapest is: 20v Hypermax™ Lithium-Ion Rapid Charger again, for $22.99. Now your up to $90.

RE: Using RV generator as backup for house?

We usually lose power a couple of times a year (winter, wind, fires, ect.). Our 5500 watt portable provides plenty of power, if used judicially. An extension cord run into the house to a power strip for the TV (on cable, interestingly, cable never goes out when the power does - underground), run the refrigerator about every 4 hours, the chest freezer is good for at least 12, laptops can run with the TV. A wood stove heats at least the living room, and eventually the whole house. HWH and furnace are both 240, neither work on gen power.

RE: Apocalypse almost

DW did a system update to her Android Trac-Fone the other day, when she was out of town of course, and had the same problem. Finally took it to Walmart (where we bought them) and the tech there did the same thing - pulled the simcard, put it back in, and VIOLA!

RE: No hot water during a freeze

Hot water will freeze before cold water. Old trick question - water that has been boiled, and allowed to cool will freeze quicker than cold water.

Stereo/Radio install

Wiring connections are twisted and tested - all works as advertised. Now to make them permanent. Crimp or solder?
