RE: Best route towing 29' to Isabella lake. 5 or 14 to 178.

14-178. Watch speed thru Mojave (it's a CHP training area, so they write a LOT of tickets for practice). Once over the top of Walker Pass, watch your speed on the downhill side. BELIEVE the yellow speed signs. If you're in the market for a steak dinner, McNallys for sure! Call (760) 376-2430 for reservations and to make sure they're open since this Covid thing....

RE: % bleach to sanitize fresh water tanks

After draining the bleach, I suggest adding a cup or two distilled vinegar when you refill the tank. Drain again and refill with water only. What is the reason for the vinegar mixture? Removes the bleach taste

RE: Chipmunks

peanut butter in a "hav-a-hart" trap, then drown 'em. Isn't this an Oxymoron. :@ Maybe so, but it works. ;)

RE: Best way to repair a hole in hauler vinyl floor

Go under the sofa, or inside a closet, or some other "hidden" area (I've got a cabinet under the fridge, so I'd go there), and steal a piece of vinyl to fit, then glue in place.

RE: Adding an hour meter to a portable generator

Have a couple of Sendec hour meters (induction from the spark plug wire) mounted on 2 ATV's. Lots of offroad desert riding (ROUGH). No issues with either machine. Excellent way to keep track of oil/air filter changes.

RE: jacks up or down

If they are hydraulic cylinders (can you see a shiny shaft extended when they are lowered?) then they should be stored in the closed/retracted position. Otherwise, rust will form on the shaft, and when retracted after storage, will damage the hydraulic seals.

RE: Wheel Lugs

Take some red (or whatever color you prefer) nail polish, and dab a drop on the lug nut where it's against the wheel, after properly torquing. If the nut moves, the nail polish will shatter (it being lacquer). Alternative to THIS.

RE: Lake Isabella RV Resort

I'd suggest either Camp James or Rivernook Campground. A little further away from Bodfish, but both are right on the river.

RE: Need Side Dish Recipes

Little Smokies cocktail weenies (as many as you need) Equal parts Grape OR Apricot jelly and a Sweet BBQ sauce (enough to cover the weenies. All into the same pot, heat and eat!

RE: It could have went bad!

Had a wheel bearing self-destruct on the trailer. AAA to the rescue, flatbed'ed (is that a word?) 85 miles to home for free. Another time had everything loaded in the truck (quads, gas, gear, etc...) happened to look in the wheel well, and one of the bolts holding the rear leaf spring was backed out almost all the way. No idea where the nut went!

RE: Very Bad RV Wreck in Oregon

From the Youtube link, presumably by the tow truck driver: "The driver of the 36 foot RV fell asleep. The RV went off the right shoulder hitting a large tree. Impact was against the upper corner of the windshield. The tree sheared off the entire roof and right side wall . The passenger was sleeping in the rear bedroom and got pinned beneath the siding and roof. It took the Ilwaco Fire Department over an hour to dig through the debris to extricate her . She appeared to have non life threatening injuries. Owner of RV told me he only had liability insurance and he had no money to pay for tow. OUCH !!! 3 hours on scene doing the recovery, 3 hours next day cleaning up mess, about $1000 cost to get rid of RV at dump, $300 to get rid of loose debris. Living the dream."

RE: Front receiver on 2012 generation F350

2011 F250 Draw-Tite installation was a straight bolt-in-place. An extra person, or 2 floor jacks makes life a lot easier.
