RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard, your latest post brought back some great memories of when this all started, so I went back to the beginning and read the first 50 pages. It is truly how unbelievable this story is based on that day you made contact with an old stray. Who would have thought what came about from your contact with Old Fella. For me personally it made me more aware of loose dogs and if they needed a helping hand. One particular instance was in Yuma over 10 years ago when me and a friend from B.C. Canada were walking our dogs along the canal in Yuma by our Campground. We spotted a Yellow Lab digging into the side of the canal. We took our dogs back to the Camp and with some leashes in hand returned to see the dog. We walked right up to her and could see she was pregnant. We figured she was trying to dig her a safe place to birth her pups. We were able to put a leash on her and she was really friendly and started walking with us back to the Campground. The manager sent her Maintenance guy down with the Golf Cart and this sweet girl jumped right up in it like she knew what it was. She was placed in the Maint. Shed and me and Nat along with our wives were talking with the manager and her husband about the dog. The manager sent her husband to the shed to get the dog. A bed was made for her in their Mobile home in a bedroom and all six of us spent the night talking and watching her give birth to six puppies. Three of them died and the other three, 2 males and 1 female made it. The Manager kept the 2 males and the mother until she was able to find the 3 of them a good home together and with a pool. The female was named Molly and our friends from Canada adopted her. I was dubbed as Uncle Joe. When ever we meet up over the years Molly remembers me and comes running and howling to me. I just saw her in early Dec when we met up in Quartzsite, AZ and she still runs to me all happy. I contribute the saving of that Mother and her Pups to this thread about Old Fella. I've always loved animals but never really considered thinking about their welfare when I would see them loose. For that I would like to Thank You, Richard, for making me more attentive to loose dogs. I still believe this Old Fella story would make a fantastic book and Movie. Right up there with Old Yeller.

Good to hear that medicine is helping you. I knew you would take care of those Cats, you are so kind.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

So those Cats on your porch that you and Sue have been taking care of actually belong to your neighbor?? Then you two provide a nice place for them to be protected in the cold back on their porch and it disappears? They're lucky I'm not their neighbor.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard, it appears the word is out, not only to dogs needing a home and help but also to Cats and it is now being shared to all kinds of animals. Hope you have enough room for what ever comes your way.

RE: Continental Tires PSI rising 20

Do you notice any vibrations? Maybe these tires aren’t balanced as well and causing more heat. There has been no vibration.

Continental Tires PSI rising 20

I recently bought Continental 255/70R 22.5's for my Tradewinds, it has always ran Michelins but none were available. I'm traveling from Southern Utah to Southern Arizona and am running 100psi in all 6 tires. I have a TST TPMS that I've used since TST first started that monitors each tires temperature and psi. The 100psi goes up to 120psi going down the road at 65mph. Outside Temps were running high 50's/60's. The Michelins never went up this much. I don't think they ever went more then 6-8 psi, even in 108 outside temperatures. My Honda CRV tow vehicle only gains 2 to 4 psi and these are with Continentals also. My old Michelins were 14 ply and the new Continentals are 16 ply, could this be the cause??? Is there anyone on here who is running the same size Continentals with a Tire Pressure Monitor System that monitors PSI and Tire Temps?? One more thing my Tire temperatures were running a few degrees above the outside temps. The tires were not hot at all, only problem is the 20 degree rise of the psi

Hope the Cat is okay. Thank you for saying Merry Christmas. I was surprised by a Salvation Army Bell Ringer yesterday. He said Merry Christmas and of course he won me over with my donation. We'll be hitting the road Monday in the motorhome to join in a surprise Birthday party for Angie's youngest sister in Sierra Vista, AZ home of the only US Army Calvery still active. For all of you on the road or getting ready to go drive safe and enjoy yourselves.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

For the past two weeks we have been told that a huge snow storm was going to hit us in Northern Utah and quickly spread down South over the Interstate hwy from here (Saint George) to the Salt Lake City area. We were supposed to spend Thanksgiving with our Children and Grand children in the Salt Lake area so I have been watching the weather reports. Today was supposed to be the big storm. Well at this time we have 55 degrees in our location and clear skies. I checked several cities with higher altitudes going up to Salt Lake City and NO SNOW until 4:00 pm or later. We could have made it before 1:00 pm. Can't believe 4 News channels here in Utah got this wrong. Kids are upset as are me and Angie. Guess me and her will find somewhere to have our lonely Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to you all

Richard, praying for a full recovery for you. What does your Doctor say. How long do you have to go through this before it's better.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard, the only treats my Rocky and Cookie get are Purina Lite Snackers. Been giving them these for years. Two good things about them are, one they are called LITE snackers because they are low calorie and two they are hard and help keep their teeth clean. They get them 3 times an evening and if I don't get them at the time they always get them I hear all about it from both of them. Now here's a thing my little guy Rocky does when they both get their treats. He will take it in his mouth and then drop it in front of him and watch my Cookie girl while she eats hers, once she is finished he will eat his. Is this normal or is he really a true gentleman? The Purina Lite Snackers are only available at a Vets office or on line, not in regular stores.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

You all are getting that huge cold front that has passed through Utah the past few days. Saint George has seen mid twenties the past 3 nights. This is really not normal. Poor folks up North in the Salt Lake City area have had single digits at night. We'll be getting back to normal 50 and 60's after today and 40's at night. If I could find new Michelins for my MH we would be heading further South. Laughlin, NV is looking good right now. Richard, don't feed the bear. lol

RE: Replacement Fridge or New Cooling Unit

Well I finally have a fridge installed in my MH. It's a Haier 9.8cf. Now I'm having my woodworking neighbor working on some trim on one side and a door on the other side, this will be my broom/vaccum closet. This fridge is only 23" wide where my old Dometic was just under 33". It's been a challenge finding a replacement since I was limited on height because of the drain pipe and the front furnace under the fridge area. Max height was 60". Now I'm searching for tires since my 4 rear tires are 7 years old, not a crack on them anywhere, love these Michelins.

Good to hear Pickles is doing better and you're right it doesn't take them long to figure out they can control you. Hope she continues to get better. Will she still need to have an operation?

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Dan I almost hate to bring this up, but sometimes the obvious is what we overlook. Have you examined her paws thoroughly for ticks or something else caught between the pads of her feet? I'm so sorry Pickles is having so much trouble. Wish they could communicate with us. Dale Dale, I was thinking the same thing.

RE: Replacement Fridge or New Cooling Unit

You know you can get a compressor based replacement unit now. If I have a problem on the Monday fridge I'll look into that. Do you have a website where I could check it out or is this the Amish Unit out of Indiana?

RE: Replacement Fridge or New Cooling Unit

Here's an update== Home Depot took it back and refunded my money. Still out the $822 for the work at the RV shop to remove the Dometic and install the Magic Chef. Found another fridge that would fit-Haier 9.8 cf. Wrote to the manufacturer asking if it would work in a MH and would it be covered under warranty. Got an answer back and they said yes to a MH and would be covered under warranty. Ordered one from Lowe's, they delivered to my home and the guys even fit it through my MH door. But couldn't put it in the cubby hole as the doors needed to be removed first. They left and I took the doors off and had neighbors help put it in place. WELL it seems that I just can't get rid of that @$%^%$ rain cloud. Had it plugged in for two days to the MH and three days to the house plug. Never cooled down. SO, on this Monday Lowe's is delivering a new one and taking the old one back. This time I will plug it in before I put it up in the cubby hole. And yes my plug in the MH puts out 120v.
