RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

So sorry to hear about everyones problems with being sick. We have gotten all our shots plus boosters. Last week we went up to the Salt Lake City area for a surprise Birthday Party for one of our Grand Daughters, she turned 21. Our Anniversary is 10 July and we are heading down the road to Mesquite Nevada to donate some money. Got free rooms for two nights. Thinking of heading up to Salt Lake area from Saint George Utah to look over some houses up for sale. We'll take our MH. Wishing you all who have gotten sick or not feeling well to get better.

Winegard G-3 Satellite

My old Winegard Dome Satellite bit the dust after 17 years so I bought a new Winegard G-3 Satellite and am wondering if anyone else on here has the same one? We use Directv with our two D-12 receivers at home and used them when we hit the road in the MH with the old satellite, so will the G-3 work with the D-12 receivers?

Wonder if you could get that new material that looks like leather but isn't. We love our sofa that has it, really soft.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Well my Rocky got groomed today and he looks so nice. The meds did calm him down. Just for everyones info if you do use the Melatonin make sure it doesn't have any sweetner in it, that can be harmful to dogs. Check the ingredients and if there is Xylitol in it, don't use for your dog. I gave him his gabapentin and melatonin at 1:00 pm and had him to the Vet at 2:00pm. Between the Vet and the Groomer next door I got him back at 3:50 pm. The Vet did a shot that was due and also his anal glands. His next grooming appt. is set up in late March. First time with this Groomer, but my Rocky looks real good. Don't know how long the meds are going to last but Rocky is sleeping off and on and when he does get up to walk he kinda stumbles a little, guess this is normal, Atleast I hope it is. Once again thank you Doc for the info. Really appreciate it. Joe

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

There is a new technique called "Chill Protocol" that is being used in vet medicine. It is designed for aggressive or fearful dogs and has shown great promise in dealing with these situations. It uses a combination of drugs, usually gabapentin, melatonin and acepromazine (or other medications) timed in sequence. Check with your vet and see if this would be appropriate. Doug, DVM Thank you, my Vet says it won't hurt Rocky so I'm picking up a dosage today for some facial grooming tomorrow. I'll let you know if it works on my Rocky Road in a few days. Doug, I picked up the med today, it is Gabapentin caps 100mg and will be giving him 2 an hour before his appointment.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

My Rocky Road (Shih Tzu) is 14 years old and has been going to Pet Smart for grooming for all those years. On his last grooming his regular groomer didn't want to do him so he was given to the manager. They called me the day before and informed me of this and that they would not have him there any longer than it takes to groom him and that they would call me as soon as they are almost through to pick him up. And that I would be charged an extra $15.00. When I picked him up his face wasn't trimmed as close as it usually was. I was told that Rocky doesn't like his face touched and that he attempts to bite. He has never done this before and even if I try to trim his face he tries to bite me. My Vet told me to give him Benadryl (1 mg per pound) to calm him down. That didn't work. Now he really needs a haircut so does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can trim his face?

RE: Air Compressor

I really appreciate all the input from you all. I did purchase the Craftsman 150psi and am happy with it. Did a really good job on getting my tires back up to 100psi. Yes it's loud. What is the PSI of the Makita and cost.

RE: Air Compressor

If you want fast, you will need to go with a 120v pancake style compressor or equivalent. I'm looking at 150 psi by craftsman, will that work fast?

Air Compressor

Looking for a new air compressor for my National Tradewinds class A. My current compressor is great for tools and my car tires but it takes too long to air up the MH tires to 100psi. Looking for suggestions for one that I can carry in one of the MH compartments

I feel you all, ever since we moved from the Salt Lake City up North to St. George Utah down South where there is no snow we haven't travelled to Yuma or Quartzsite the past few years. Now with this COVID going on I don't know when we will travel again. Check out the RV Park prices, they have really gone up. Even Propane has gone crazy.

Looking for an answer as to why my little Rocky licks the blankets at night when we go to bed. Any thoughts? He is a 14 year old Shih Tzu.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

I forgot to tell you all about Halloween, I sit out front with a fire and chair and table to greet the kids, they get their treats but for those who bring their 4 legged kids along I also have treats for them. I have to do that as most of the neighborhood dogs know me and expect their treats too.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

You're right. In the evenings I walk around my neighborhood and a lot of the dogs know me as I always carry milk bones. One Lab will come running up to me off his leash and without me saying a word he will sit and offer a paw, then he gets his treat. There is some friends who have a bird dog, Struts, who sees me a block away who starts howling until I get there and give him his two treats. Funny thing with him if I miss a day he demands three. Then there is Peaches a little mixed breed girl who lives across the street who comes running over when ever she sees my garage door open. Her mom always checks the street before letting her go. She is so small she only gets half. Then there is Toby who lives up a few houses from me who I have taught to sit before he gets his treat and I send him home with it in his mouth. The highlights of my evening walk was Maggie an old gal who had cancer in her liver and a huge lump on her back just above her tail. She loved laying out on her grass in the front yard. She never left the grass or the sidewalk in front of the house all on her own. She got so use to me coming around the corner she would get up and come rub up against me expressing her love. It really broke my heart when she passed on, but now her owner has a new little guy, a Yorkie who has got so use to my voice that when I call Pam to let her know I'm on my way he hears my voice from the phone and starts barking. And yes I have a little guy of my own, his name is Rocky Road, a little Shih Tzu and he enjoys his walks and meeting up with the other dogs.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

You are right about all he has done. Since I found this forum I have become more alert to loose/lost dogs and as a result have been involved in rescuing a few. One in particular was a young yellow lab me and a friend saw trying to dig into the dirt on a dirt road along a canal. We took our dogs back to Camp and headed back with a leash after telling the Park manager what we found. We were able to get the Lab and put her on the Camp golf cart. It was then we saw that she was pregnant and maybe she was looking for a safe place to have her pups. She was put in the Park shed but after the six of us got together at the managers Mobile Home her husband went and got the Lab to his Mobile Home. The six of us sat there most of the night as she gave birth to the pups. My friend and his wife adopted one that night, her name was Molly. I would only see her as we met up in Yuma in the Winter, but she would always come running to me and give me big hugs.
