RE: Any one else giving up snow birding due to the covid

I've been following along reading peoples responses to this question. I am 60 years old and can't believe what I have seen in the last 10 months. All I can say is uh.... yeah. I am not a product of this culture and neither are the majority of you. I personally would rather die on my feet than beg on my knees to pursue my God given rights to live freely and make my own decisions in my life. I don't need anyone to think for me or speak for me. I believe in what people do, not what they say. Everyone of you has the same right or at least I was raised to believe you do, to pursue whatever path you feel is best for you. I understand the issues on both side. I see what the demographic of this disease is, and those of us over 60 with underlying pre-existing conditions need to be more cautious. As a population, there is no surprise that the majority of our citizens are in poor health, due to the great abundance we have access to. We lack discipline and are selfish when it comes to having what we want. Don't get me wrong. I would rather be in this position than those that live in other parts of the World that live in fear for the most basic needs every day. I have lived it and witnessed it, which has given me the perspective I have. We are a proud and independent people, but we have lost sight of what brought us to this place. Get off your social media and your phones and enjoy what you have. All we are, are our experiences. I for one, want more good ones than bad. Thanks for letting me share. I love the freedom of our RV BRAVO!!!

RE: HWH customer service phone number is a joke

1. Did you NOT get the Operators/instruction manual? 2. The reason the phone number is loaded up is because of people like you. You call for help when you either have the Instruction manual or lack the resources/lazy to go online to and they have any and all instructional help you would need. Including a specific site on their online manuals for ALL their various Leveling adjustments. Here it is. Doug This is a great example of why this board has become a ghost town. Totally uncalled for. Toxicity at its finest.

RE: Freightliner chassis

I had a choice between Spartan and FL when ordering my new Dutch Star. I chose FL.

RE: What is typical width of class A with side slides both open?

I went 16 wide and wish I had gone 18. 16 will accommodate open slides, but it is difficult to walk around the coach, and nearly impossible with the driver’s side living area slide extended.

RE: 2017 Newmar Baystar

Thanks Shot-N-Az. That makes perfect sense. When I was trying the other day I think the main problem I may have had was that I also had the water connected to the rig. So when adding chems I should have "fill tank" open and when winterizing I should have "city water" on? Don't know about your Newmar but our Baystar has the Tank/city valve in one bay and the pump and winterizing hose in the next. Wish it was all in the same bay. Found the valves for the water heater under the sink in the rig. May just have to spend the $100 to take it down and let a tech show me how. Our Coachmen was a breeze as everythoing was in one hook up with labeled valves. Thanks for your help. When you are drawing the bleach into the tank, have the fresh water fill valve open. As soon as the bleach is in, close the fresh water tank fill valve and continue to fill the tank with city water. When winterizing, have the fresh water fill valve in the closed position and draw the antifreeze in through the tube. You will not be using the city water fill to winterize. Just keep pumping antifreeze in thru the tube until the task is complete.

I don’t seem to be able to load a picture here. I’ll email it to you.

RE: 2017 Newmar Baystar

You should see two low point hot, one cold. Those will drain your plumbing. The fresh water tank has its own drain. You have to reach through the wet bay to find it. I’ll see if I can take a pic and load it here.

RE: 2017 Newmar Baystar

Hi Mike, I do not have a Baystar, but I have a Newmar, and I think the items you are asking about are the same. The valve you are not sure about prevents the water pump from pulling from the fresh water tank. When you close that valve and open the one on the winterization hose, you create a new source of liquid for the pump to pull from. When you are sanitizing, you want your fresh water tank fill valve to be open, with the other valves positioned as just discussed. That puts your sanitizing solution in the fresh water tank. When winterizing, turn the fresh water tank fill valve to the closed position. This prevents your antifreeze from going into the fresh water tank and directs it to the plumbing system throughout the coach. With the tank drained, there is no reason to put antifreeze in there. I also bypass the water heater when winterizing, although some do not. The water heater bypass valves are located behind the water heater, usually accessible via a cabinet door under the sink. There is a Youtube channel by RVGeeks that has numerous videos I have found helpful with Newmars. They have one that specifically speaks to winterization and would be worth your while.

RE: Are class A resorts just as filled up as other RV parks?

With few exceptions, we only stay at motorcoach resorts. Yes, they are as full as any other right now. At least in our experience so far this season.
