RE: Rivan truck tow vehicle

I am not reading this whole thing, and the politics. But a guy at work ordered one of these. Supost to get it last summer, then in october, then January and still nada. So hes been waiting over a year, with 3 delivery dates come and gone. As for towing, its not there yet for me, but if its for you go for it. You just may need another TV before this one gets delivered.

RE: Tire exploded in Florida

Yea, speed and heat along with pressure kills tires. I have heard lots of stories about people putting the pressure sensors in the tires but they don't get warnings of a flat fast enough. I think, like in your car it takes to long for the sensor to read a tire lossing pressure quickly, so you get no warning untill boom. I have also heard stories of the china bomb tires. The truth could be eaither. Unfortunately, flats happen. Hope nothing is too messed up and you get up and running quickly.
Not a pressure loss issue The tire minder system responds to major pressure loss very quickly. I literally heard the tire explode.
Thats the exact opposite of my experiance and of those that have added the monitors in there campers that I know. If yours react instantly good. Mine dont. Even in my new truck they take like 30 mins of driving to get up to corect pressure.

RE: Turn Your Regular Grill into a Smoker - Easy

It works and will add a bit of smoke, but its not as good as a smoker. I hace herd of those tubs and they seem to be a good idea also. So, maybe good whild camping. But at home , the pellet smoker is so easy!

RE: Are these brake magnets warn?

No need to replace them if they are not worn. Yea, its easy to replace the whole assembly, but you stuff looks good. My breaks on the TT needed replacement at about 10 years. And that was probably because they were undersized.

RE: Country Water Fill - Class C Jayco

to "suck " fluid in could be a winterizing system to add antifreeze to system?
city water pressure should push water in the fresh water fill unless that valve is stuck???????????
bumpy
They probably have both, and the winterizing system is the only way to fill it without using a hose. Unless you get a seprate pump as stated above. Not having a gravity fill is not fun.

RE: Country Water Fill - Class C Jayco

There is probably a way to fill it from the city water port also. If you have a hose with pressure. I feel your pain, no gravity feed on mine, and to switch it over the controlls are under the couch, that is under the rear slide bed. Plus, I can't see them well, so I turn things untill I hear the water flowing to the pump. Check the manual, try it both ways at home, then mark the valves.

RE: General newb questions - Advice?

Take some pictures of the controlls for the fridge. Mostly , at that age and if original, it needs to be switched over manually. As too if its a 2 or 3 eay fridge , only the controlls will tell. Same with the water heater. I dought it has an ellectric water heater, but it could have been added. Always have water in the water heater before starting it, or you could damage it.

RE: Patio Mat Anchoring

...
I deleted the post from the spammer who bumped this old thread, but now it makes Jerry look like a goober for bumping the thread.
While Jerry may or may not be a goober, he's not the one who resurrected this conversation and please don't hold it against him.
And as for anchoring the patio mat, I bought a bunch of these photo studio sand bags about six years ago and they're perfect. The soil where I usually camp is too hard to drive in any pegs (not too different than the concrete pads). So I put one or two of these on every corner. I also put on in the bottom of the collapsable trash/recycle cans so they can't blow away or tip over.
If you decide to use them, make sure to fill gallon Ziploc baggies with the sand and then add those baggies to the sand bags. Otherwise the sand will slowly seep out and make a mess.

(Sorry Jerry. ;) )
Lol, didnt notice the original date. Hope they figured it out by now!

RE: Patio Mat Anchoring

I use the matt on concrete, i have my kitchen set up on one side, and firepit on the other. Table and chairs near the camper and a cooler. So no anchors needed.

RE: WDH

Look it up in the owners manual, it says something to the effect of a wdh is not needed towing 5000lbs or under. At least thats in my chevy book. Yours should be the same. I had my hitch allready and put it on, I just didnt set the tension on it all the way. As stated above its more for sway controll for me then weight distribution.

RE: Extending Camper Tounge?

Lets get back to OPs original post, He wants to carry his boat in the truck bed. over cab Rack is out for them. They like to do it their way. Low and easy.
So, as they questioned, about lengthening the tongue to accommodate their boat, is a reasonable option in a bolt on way , likely cheaper than a n over bed rack. certainly easier for use as they use it a lot.
They can design and build it - he has a welder - for you who didnt read the whole thread.
I read the whole thread, c frame campers are weak. They break and bend all the time. I would not recommend extending them. I gave options to better ideas. Have you seen a c frame camper or light trailor for that matter fail? I have, and not just campers but utillity trailors. Its always on the tounge. Yes , you can reinforce and weld them as they are. But sometimes they break where the reinforcement isnt. Unless you know the forces applied to the elongated tounge, I wouldn't chance it. But thats just me. You can do as you wish.

RE: Extending Camper Tounge?

Not sure how a c frame trailor will take the added stress of lengthening it. They are prety flimsy. May be better for the roof rack, or a beefier frame for the whole camper.

RE: Brooklyn Queens Expressway

The clearances say they are lower then you height. Just a quick search says its passable at higher heights but only in certain lanes. I wouldn't chance it. Accident in the taller lane, now your stuck or worse. But its up to you.

RE: Leveling Issues

Ah , got you now. I just pulled to a level spot and did the install. If you level the camper even on a small slope, you move it on a fulcrum, rasing or lowering the front, so measurements will be different depending on the slope you parked it on. Measure it on totally level ground and I bet its probably on the money.

RE: Gas fridge on the move?

I drive with the propane on. Since yours is an older camper , im guessing the controll knob is turning itself off while driving? It may just need to be replaced. Easy fix.
