RE: Pop-up Truck Camper Peeps - question for you...

When we booked Fishing Bridge campground in Yellowstone the rep on the phone asked me three times if there was ANY canvas on our TC, was it a pop up? It wasn’t a pop up so he booked us in. We found out later that no tents or canvass was allowed in that particular campground because it was on a grizzly migration path. I can assure you our bbq was back in the truck before dark. It’s possible some campgrounds may reserve sites for tents so they at least have somewhere to set up. This doesn’t make sense though if an RV site is right next to a tent-only site.

RE: Ford F250 frame hold downs?

Not that I am aware of. I have Torklifts and I am pretty sure they are drill free mounting on our 2011 F350. They have held up well for 8 years now.

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch - tried searcing

If I had to do it all over again I would go under-mount gooseneck for sure. No bed to create for the camper, which also adds height.

RE: DRW vs SRW safety, tire blowout

Just an FYI on the dually side. We have an SRW but I found out that with a CAA RV membership and you call them regarding an issue with an inside rear tire they will not touch it. You would have to find someone else. I am not sure if AAA has the same policy or not but If I had a dually I would be checking with them.

RE: How am I going to re-attach this jack?

Image did not come through. We'll need more info too, like make & age of camper. Many here have dealt with what your going through.

RE: Tailgate support rack

X3 for me on leaving it at home & using a cargo net. I mostly use the net to make sure I don't lose my bed mat. It's a pain getting the tailgate off and on again & storing it but installing & using the cargo net is a breeze.

RE: Camper looks like its not level

I had the same issue & it was messing me up. 2011 F350 SRW crew cab, short box. I saw what you are seeing. Try this. Next time the camper is off, grab a 5 or 6 foot piece of straight hardwood. Place it across the top of the bedrails, right behind the back window. Measure to the truck bed. Then do the same thing slightly forward of the tailgate & see the difference in the measurement. Realizing that at least helped ME sleep better. For me it was an optical illusion for sure, but was caused by Ford.

RE: should I be using a stand when not in use

Our 2013 AF811 has spent all its 5-6 month winters on it’s jacks. On asphalt. No issues, and no other supports.

RE: Free Arctic Fox, you haul it.

You have come to the right place. Someone will help for sure. For marking spots of concern have you tried What.Three.Words ? Amazing.

RE: Truck camper title?

RE: Fast Gun info?

We have the vintage with the looped handles. They are very handy. When gassing up I have to take the front one off to get access so instead of dropping it on the ground I just hang it from the loop on the handle on the rear Fastgun until I am finished with the pump. Also, when off the truck at a campground I started thinking if someone steals these I am in a hell of a mess. I use a lock for each pair to hang them from the loops on the campers tie-down bracket. This saves having to store them in the truck or camper. Two times I noticed that one of my Fastguns was swinging in the wind as I drove. It had disengaged at the bottom. Upon inspection when I took them apart there was an issue with two internal rod threads. Some were flat, just like you will find at the very bottom as the threading was finishing on the machine. Torklift immediately sent me two new internal rods. All good ever since. Great customer service.

RE: Antifreeze NOT Bypassing Water Heater

That is a little weird. Over the years we have had 1, 2, and also 3 connections to do a proper HWTank bypass. I have no clue as to why some are different. With our Arctic Fox 811, there is just one, so it could not be easier. Good luck. I would put the pink stuff away until you sort it out. Maybe hookup a city water line & close all taps but open the hot water tank & you can play with the valves until water stops running out of the tank. Then you’ll know where you’re at.

RE: 2013 Arctic Fox 990S

I opted for these pigtails. We also have 2x30 pd. tanks. It is tight but they fit in okay, and work well.

RE: Quality of new Arctic Fox TC

VERY good point. Especially on point considering the prices these units are going for. I am waiting for someone to develop a clear spray sealer that you can use annually around all your clearance lights, etc. Would be so much easier than replacing caulking.

RE: Quality of new Arctic Fox TC

We bought a brand new 2013 AF811 in 2014 and are very happy with it. No delamination issues. It gets parked outside all the time but we bought an ADCO cover for it 4 years ago for the winters.

RE: Stable Camper anti-rocking system

Got it all installed & just spent two weeks in it, truck.       What an amazing difference.       Not perfect,......but very darn close.      Easy install too.

RE: Progressive PT30x or SSP-30XL

We have had the SSP-30XL for 3 years now. Very happy with it until it failed this spring. I got the green surge light fine, but not the blue "OK" light with it. Only the green. The pole was (double)tested and was fine. Progressive is sending me a new one, no charge without question & I can see that it has been UPS shipped, but hasn't arrived yet. It is coming from U.S.A. to me in Canada so I don't know yet if there will be import or duty fees to be paid but I believe Progressive is covering the shipping. With these units there can be connection issues occasionally if the power source is too close to the ground. They can be bulky.

RE: Another noobie question.

Fridge on propane while travelling. When fueling I find it easier to turn the fridge off than the propane at the tank. I figure with the fridge off it shuts down any spark attempt to re-light.

RE: Roadside Assistance

We have CAA, which is covered by AAA in the States. I had a breakdown with the camper on & gave CAA all the info they needed, weight, height, etc. They sent me a flatbed so I would have taken out the first bridge we saw. Then they sent me another wrong truck which couldn’t handle my weight. I don’t believe they staff too many RV specialists. Finally they said it would be another 3 hours for the correct truck. I suggested that was not suitable so I will find a local & I want CAA to cover the bill. They said fine & gave me no argument at the bill of something over $400. They helped me find a local. We have an F350 SRW, with an RV membership. I am not sure about AAA, but I found out that CAA will not entertain anything to do with the INSIDE wheels of a dually. You are on your own to find someone that will. Not sure why but I bet many don’t know this.
