RE: Torklift camper tie down width question

I called Torklift about that very issue a couple of years ago. Tech was great. Said to get the Fastguns as parallel to the ground as possible. ie - Pointy end at the front to the front & pointy end at the rear to the rear. Make the connections as wide as possible.

RE: Stable Camper anti-rocking system

Thanks folks. I just pulled the trigger yesterday. Could be a 1 - 2 month wait for delivery though.

RE: Stable Camper anti-rocking system

Thanks MORSNOW Makes perfect sense now,..but I don't have that feature with our AF811,..even though it is the same manufacturer. Thanks for the input. I wonder how long it will be before manufacturers start making campers & jacks that will ALLOW the bottom of the camper to actually make contact with terraferma to alleviate any sway at all. Would solve a lot of issues. ie; no more stairs needed, just walk right in,...until you load it back on the truck.

RE: Stable Camper anti-rocking system

Thanks MORSNOW. Not sure what you mean about the storage area you mention. (front fender)

Stable Camper anti-rocking system

Does anyone have any first or second hand knowledge as to whether this system is truly effective or not ?? https://www.stablecamper.com/stablization https://i0.wp.com/www.truckcamperadventure.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/fullsizeoutput_13a8.jpeg?resize=1320%2C880&ssl=1

RE: Truck bed camper shim

Ours always looked tilted too & it made no sense. Finally figured out something. Take a 5 ft board & put it across both bedrails, just behind the back window. Now take a measurement from the bottom of that board to the truck bed. Now take that board and move it back just forward of the tailgate & take that measurement again. On our 2011 F350 there was almost an inch difference if I remember rightly. Basically a manufactured optical illusion. No idea why, so I just got used to it.

RE: Mounting Truck Camper on Top Of 5th Wheel Hitch Rails

I used numbered 2 x 4's to get above the rails. I then attached the last 4 together so I didn't lose one 2 x 4 going down the road. After I got the wood in I used a 3/8" horse stall mat so I didn't get too tall.

RE: Reico-Titan electric jack dust boots

In getting that bottom bolt off; you will notice both vertical tubes have a verticlal grove. They both line up to that groove, and need to. If the bolt is locked tight you may need some large channel locks, and another set of hands, to make sure the bottom tube doesn’t turn.

RE: Built-in generator oil change

Our AF811 has the same generator. I was able to access the drain plug but just barely. Once I found the correct socket & extension bar I had to get it ALMOST on the bolt, on quite an angle & whack with a hammer a couple of times. The bottom cover plate finally shifted over a bit to get the socket dead on. Not easy,....even harder to replace the bolt. You may have to drill an access hole through the bottom cover plate in your set up.

RE: Rancho shock question

Rancho 9000's have 9 points of adjustment. I also do the same as jimh425 and am quite happy with them. After a few years they can be hard to adjust though if you don't get some white grease in behind the dials.

RE: One jack not functioning AF811

I had same problem with our 2013 AF811. I pulled the cap off the top & got a socket on it. Made maybe just a half turn by hand. Then tried again via controller. All good. That was 2 years ago. Hasn't happened again since.

RE: Truck camper on top of gooseneck hitch?

I wouldn’t risk it. I used to switch up from TC to 5th wheel. To put the TC in I had to make a bed out of 2 x 4’s to get over the hitch mounting rails. Then I put the mat on top. If your TC isn’t super heavy & you can afford to raise it 1.5 “ higher then I would try that route.

RE: Tires (the weakest link)

I went with the Visions for our F350 SRW. That was to allow me to go to commercial tires as I felt the rubber would be the weakest link. I went with Michelin XDS2's. 16 ply with load range H. Camper on, I run them at 120 PSI. Camper off I run them at 80. Supposed to be good for 100,000 kms. and so far it looks like they just may. I got drive treads for the rear but steer treads for the front (quieter up front). I also upgraded the TPMS valves at $35 each but they have never worked. The truck won't recognize them. Every time I ramp up to 120 psi I get a dashboard message,..."low tire pressure". Go figure. I just feel much safer with these tires.

RE: Roadmaster or Hellwig

I have a stock sway bar on the front, and added a Bigwig on the back. I believe it has 3 settings. I had to call their cust. support once to get the best setting to use. On a Sunday afternoon, just before dinner I had a tech. on the first ring. Amazing,....knew his stuff too. I am very happy with the product,....AND the service. I don't know anything about Roadmaster.

RE: Fridge won't fit

I can't find it now but saw a video once. Probably Youtube but not sure. Put dinette down & cover with moving blanket. Lay fridge on it & cut it in half with a sawz-all & take it out the door. Then take most of the back off the new fridge, and the door. Just enough to get it in the entrance door. Put it all back together again on the moving blanket & then install. I never would have though of doing it but was amazed how well it worked.

RE: New Palomino hard side 'solar ready'??

Our Arctic Fox is also solar ready pre-wired. For us that means there are the wires run through into the battery compartment, and also up to the roof to connect to the panels, which we have not done. The controller that we would have to buy would be installed on the wall near the kitchen sink, near the radio & water heater controls. It simply consists of a label on the wall. "put controller here", or something like that. It just shows where you have to CUT into the wall to mount the controller. I assume all the wires are in the wall behind it that I would need, after I get my drywall knife out. Good luck.

RE: Shark-fin Antenna

I can't quite picture your issue but there are lots of stubby replacements out there. https://www.amazon.ca/s?k=stubby+car+aerial&ref=nb_sb_noss

RE: Truck Camper Security

Can't help you with product info but whatever motion sensor you get I would be sure is has a decent sensitivity adjustment. On a windy day gusts can get the loaded camper rocking pretty good if the legs are not down. Good luck.

RE: Back Porch Ideas

This may also provide some ideas. https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/camper-mods/contests/camper-aluminum-deck-fabrication-project/ I just don't like the amount of time it would take to get in when pulling over to make lunch, etc.,........especially with a toad attached.
