RE: Freightliner customer service

My Allison transmission service center had me set for 8am. I was there and waited in the RV until 4pm, finally got out about 7pm. We are not high on the priority list, at least until time to pay. In their defense, they had a rig in the bay with the pit that was waiting on a part and it could not move. Finally decided to put me in a bay with out pit and do it on the ground. Chit happens so I dealt with it. My Freightliner dealer gave me an evening appointment which I like better, in at 5pm and out about 8-9pm and don't feel as much like I am in the way.

RE: Gatlinberg, TN and Ashville, NC

Going to Little Arrow for next week on Townsend. Was at the Asheville west KOA a few weeks ago, nice with plenty of pull thru sites.

RE: Covid 19 warning

We have already decided to stay in our sticks and bricks house this coming winter which is way off the beaten path in the NC mountains. I just need to get some one to do the weeding at our RV lot in Key Largo. Guy I will volunteer to be your RV lot caretaker this winter!!!!!

RE: Dolly tow a Cherokee Trailhawk?

Of course, if your preference is to trailer it back rather than taking along someone to drive it back, you can always rent a flatbed car trailer from U-Haul. Wife will drive it back. Only about a 4 hour trip so not a big deal. Thanks

RE: Dolly tow a Cherokee Trailhawk?

Thanks Tom for the link to the manual. Page 384 answers the question, NO. I will research base plates next. Thanks all.

Dolly tow a Cherokee Trailhawk?

We are picking up a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk this weekend. I plan on going with the Ready Brute tow bar. I do have a dolly and just wonder if it can be towed on a dolly since we are driving about 4 hours away to get it. I don't have the manual yet but have heard some can not be towed on dolly. this does the the ability to put transaxle in neutral. Thanks for any thoughts. And any other info in general about this set up. Dean

RE: Motorhome fire at Holtville hot springs LTVA

I installed one of these behind my fridge. Hope I never have to find out if it works but it may buy some time if it only slows it down.

RE: can someone please explain this for me?

Many F250's you see pulling 5ver's are way over on pin weight. Most everyone assumes these a big pickem up truck and can carry anything. I know I was very surprised/disappointed to find out my then F250PSD only had about 1800lb cargo capacity and most decent size 5th wheels are much more than that hitch weight.

RE: New satellites are messing up our night sky

How does one determine a star from a satellite if the satellite in is stationary orbit? Very good question. I do astro photography and these kind of Geosynchronous satellites don't move is right, but the stars do. When I do long exposure images I am tracking at the same rate the stars move, actually as the earth rotates, and these satellites don't. So they end up being streaks in my exposures. Most of my final images are made up of many 10-30 min long exposures so with software we can remove these as random noise since they do not occur in the same location in each exposure. This will become extremely difficult when there are many objects in each exposure, and even though they may be too dim to see with the naked eye, my sensitive CCD camera will indeed pick them up. So yes this is a major concern to many astronomers, both professional and amateurs alike. Dean

RE: Casita vs "conventional" small trailers

I went from a 17' stick built FourWinds to the 17' Casita and it is much better made, but also much smaller. I love it for traveling by myself, easy to handle and has everything I need for a week of dry camping. Except for water capacity is small. I love the all fiberglass showers and actually very usable. Similar to a boat bathroom/head. I just picked up a 36' Phaeton but will keep the Casita for my solo trips.

RE: Casita vs "conventional" small trailers

Though Canada produces several fiberglass clamshell lines, Oliver is not one of them. Very nice though. Oliver is made in TN, very good quality but expensive, and heavy.

Casita also has a Fifth wheel Version the looks pretty cool. I see a lot of used ones for sale online. Nope, that is a scamp.

RE: Car caddy

We are going to use a dolly for the year or so until we decide just how we will use the toad. Wife has Honda Odyssey which requires a wider dolly so I ordered an America Car Dolly 9' wide. Then we can tow about anything we want until we go 4 down.

RE: agm battery life

I have had one in my small Casita for the last 5 years. Excellent battery. Bought Vmax from Amazon with free shipping included.
