RE: Auburn Washington suggestions

There is a state park out by black diamond farther east if you are interested, just not a lot of facilities in this area. Skip the koa in Kent. State Park near Maple Valley/Black Diamond is Kanaskat-Palmer State Park. And another vote against Kent KOA. I have heard that it's been upgraded recently, but it's still on a major 5 lane arterial, and it's across the street from an Amazon fulfilment center, traffic 24 hours a day.

RE: Arizona Hwy 89 ALT info please

So back to the OP's original question. I've done this section, once each way (years apart). Other than elevation gain, there is nothing that I would consider dangerous. Are there some spots where you could go off a drop off? Sure, but not any more than any other road. There is 2600 feet of elevation between Jacobs Lake and the flat section of the road around Vermillion Cliffs. In just over 13 miles. I'm sure the section they are referring to is the last few miles where the switch backs are, before you get to the bottom. Check out Google street view to see what the switch backs look like. Both my trips were in a 30 Foot class C.

RE: Have You Installed Your Own Slide Topper?

Yes, Just cut to size. Preferably two strong guys with two ladders to unroll the old topper, and pin the roller so it does not retract. I did the unrolling by myself, and it was tough, and marginally unsafe. Beware of the old topper being slimy and slippery while you are unrolling. Once I had it unrolled and pinned, my wife helped me guide the new topper into place. But it was still tough to unpin and release just by myself. This is the method I used: Standard version
