RE: Storing My Diesel Truck Over Winter Advice

What about the blue def in the tank? My tank is 1/2 full. I know that it could freeze but I think 1/2 a tank would be enough for expansion. I could open the cap just in case but should I be concerned? My truck sets all Summer with whatever DEF that's in the tank when returning to the NW from my Winter Wonderland. Never an issue. You will be fine just disconnect the negative terminals, that's it!!! I bought a Ctek battery charger/maintainer so using this connected to the truck I don't need to disconnect the negative terminals right? I planned to connect straight up to driver's side battery and let it charge maintain both driver and passenger side batts. I hope this is correct.

RE: Storing My Diesel Truck Over Winter Advice

OK, so most are saying to use a battery minder, and a conditioner. If you use a tender/minder, which brand works well, and in 6 months will it boil batteries dry? Mine are wet Costco interstates. Also will Diesel Klean work as conditioner? I use the NOCO Genius on my batteries and have always used Diesel Klean - Diesel Klean - White Will the NOCO cook my batteries in 6 mo of maintenance and when power goes out does it reset to your settings automatically? Our power in the shop will go out 4-5 times ea winter for usually 5-10 hours ea time

RE: Capital Reef NP Roads

Hello, Besides the Hwy 24, are the other roads paved like scenic drive or capital gorge road? Hwy 24 is a main 2 lane hwy. Scenic Drive is paved, narrow and has ford crossings. Capital Gorge road is gravel. Would you happen to know the distance of Scenic drive and Hwy 24 one way?

Skip the maintainer. Make sure all fluids are topped off and the batteries are fully charged. Remove BOTH negative leads. For extra insurance, put blocks under the frame so that there is no weight on the tires. If you disconnect the batteries, then the computer won't remember anything. Wise?

Storing My Diesel Truck Over Winter Advice

I have a 2013 Ram 3500 Diesel. I want to store it in my shop this year in WA where it can get as low as -5 degrees. Mind you, it's not that cold all winter but it can get that low inside the shop. I have never stored a vehicle over winter in a cold area and I was wondering if any of you have experience with this process. It is a diesel with two batteries so please give me an Idea of what I should be doing. It will be stored for 6 months from October to Early May. Thanks in advance.

RE: Death Valley and Current road conditions

Enblethen gave me the link and I was able to find out the same thing about closers. Bad timing with all the flood damage from last month. Current hurricane coming through and may finish off the park I'm afraid.

Death Valley and Current road conditions

I thought I might detour from our trip south in mid October to Deathvalley. I have never been there so coming in maybe from Scotty's junction. I saw that last month that DV got flooded out. Does anyone know if you can go through there now? Traveling with subaru ouback and a small cargo trailer.

RE: Twin Falls ID to Las Vegas NV Advice

All good stuff here. We also thought of going towards Death Valley since it is sort of a small detour only. I am not towing a 5er, that stays in WA now. I am towing a small cargo trailer with my Subaru. Gas milage will be a lot better for sure but filling up going that direction was good advice.

RE: Little Joe Rd in Northern Idaho

The road is good and gravel but if you don't mind a dirty car it is not a problem at all.

Twin Falls ID to Las Vegas NV Advice

I am planning to head south in mid-October from Twin Falls ID. Typically I go over to Salt Lake City then I-15 South to Las Vegas, however this year I would like to take SR 93 in Nevada to LAs Vegas. Any tips or concerns or detours to take going this way?
