RE: CG Suggestions

Hard to make suggestions with no idea what interest you. We like waterfalls, moderate woodsy hiking and mountain, water, river views.

CG Suggestions

Hi, we live in Atlanta and plan a 4 wk camping trip to Holland, MI to visit relatives the end of September. We will take our time going up and down and are asking for for your help. We know this is very vague, but we'd like any of your suggestions of your favorite state parks you like to stay in along the way in TN, KY, OH, IN and MI. We like waterfalls, moderate woodsy hiking and mountain, water, river views. Our route doesn't have to be a straight line, we meander to catch the sights. We usually stay 2 night at each CG. Referrals from fellow campers are always the best input! Thank you, take care....

RV Travel Insurance ??

We live in Atlanta and are considering a 4-6 week camping trip to Michigan to visit family in October/November. We like to take it slow and see the sights along the way, 2 nights at each campground. We usually make reservations in advance to avoid stress. With the Delta variant COVID unknowns is there any RV travel insurance that will reimburse our costs if we don't go on the trip due to illness (ours or the family's) or closure? The CGs aren't usually very understanding. know there's an element of how far ahead you cancel too. The insurance may cost more than what is at risk but thought I would ask.... Take care...

How to Remove Convec/Microwave?

We have a 2007 Winn Voyage 38J. The convection/microwave has stopped working. The microwave, the convection and the turntable don't work. The fan, clock and light do. Anyone know how to remove the unit? What steps are involved? There are no visible screws in the floor of the cabinet above the unit. And the cabinet is nailed panels, no screws. Thanks....

RE: Death Wobble Continues ....

Are you positive that the harness is working and powering the steering like it should? To some of the other folks replying, great “general” suggestions as DW can be caused by many different things. But imo this issue is likely the power steering issue. Bottom line, vehicles are beginning to get too smart to use for other purposes. I flip the switch on the Jeep interior wiring harness, then open the hood and install the fuse. When I install the fuse I hear a faint "whine" so believe the power steering is being powered as intended.... Thanks

RE: Death Wobble Continues ....

Is your tow bar dead level? Not pointing up to the MH? We have a drop down so the tow bar is level. Thanks....

Death Wobble Continues ....

We are aware of the Death Wobble problem. We bought a used 2018 Jeep Cherokee and their special tow harness that prevents DW from occurring. Well despite our efforts DW still occurs when the Jeep hits a bump just right. Given that we have done everything we are supposed to have to avoid DW, are there any other fixes or adjustments that can be made? Jeep is essentially new, only 15k miles so linkage is tight. Thanks in advance...

How to Remove Window ??

We have a 2007 Winn Voyage 38J on a Workhorse chassis, 8.1L Vortec gas engine. The passenger slide out has a window unit with 3 segments. The outer 2 panels swing out vertically. The center panel is fixed. The center panel double seal is bad, filled with condensation, and I need to repair. My question is how to remove this center panel? It is not trapped between aluminum frame. Both side edges are exposed where they meet the outer panels. The top and bottom edges are flush with the aluminum frame, not under it. There are no clips or screws. All I can assume is it is pressed into a bead of adhesive? Once removed I will tackle how to repair, either do myself, or take the panel to a glass shop. But my pickle is how to remove it. I plan to call Winn Tech Support as well, but worried they won't have the details. I am hoping one of you may have done this before. Thanks in advance....

RE: Intermittent Dash Radio ??

SOLVED !! Ah Ha !! Found it !! The clue was in a post on the Winne Forum: "I decided to install a new radio and went to Best Buy for the radio and installation. I decided on a Kenwood satellite ready radio with Bluetooth and a ton of other features. The technician installed the radio and guess what? No sound. After checking each speaker wire he found that one of the speakers had shorted out which forced the radio into protection mode. Turns out that the Magnadyne radio was good after all (I have it in storage)." His was same MH year and model but higher trim level. I had checked my speaker wires for ohms and shorts, all were good. Based on the above I removed the driver side dash speaker I found the tiny wire that passes thru the paper cone was up against the speaker metal frame. Since the cone moves with sound it caused an intermittent short to ground and the radio went into protection mode. That's why when I would hit the dash it would change. So I bent the wire away from the metal frame. Issue solved, Life is GOOD !!

RE: Intermittent Dash Radio ??

Mine is not an issue of the power flickering or going off. In my case the power stays on, the display stays lit, characters are shown, the sound level meter is dancing, yet no sound. This has me stumped... Any others experience my symptoms? Remedy?

Intermittent Dash Radio ??

Years ago I had trouble with my windshield wipers continuing to run and found that others had the same problem on this forum. So trying it again... We have a 2007 Winn Voyage. For several years while driving our Magnadyne dash radio will be working fine (...both FM and CD) then randomly the sound stops. All 4 speakers go silent. I want to say it's after we have hit a bump but can't prove this. The bezel is still functioning, the CD still playing, the output level is still dancing but no sound. Sounds crazy but I have found if I hit the side of the dash with my fist some times it will start again. I finally decided to tear into this and fix it. Presently there is no sound in the MH. I have confirmed that all 4 speakers are good, no shorts, the power is good, the ground is good, the wiring harness is good, no shorts, I have wiggled it all around, besides not sure how the harness could make all 4 speakers stop. The surge suppressor is good. The radio itself works good when on the bench in the house! No affect if engine power versus coach power. No affect if on shore power. I have reset the Magnadyne radio too. So there's something odd about being in the MH while using the MH harness that allows for an intermittent situation. The wiring harness has 8 speaker wires (4x2), 12v switched, 12v constant, Gnd, Pwr antenna (not used) and aux amp outputs (not used). Has anyone encountered this? 4/5 update: Yay, I finally found the problem, see details in thread below...

RE: TFT Code for ScanGauge 2 ??

When I was having difficulty getting my Ford V-10 class C to read the trans temps after trying all the manual suggestions, I called Scan-Gage and they explained what I had missed. That made it work, so might want to just call them. Bad news, I contacted ScanGauge, see below. Apparently it can report a 5-speed, but not a 6-speed Allison transmission fluid temperature. Thanks anyways... We have been told from other customers that those parameters do not report properly on vehicles with that transmission because the parameters work on a 5-speed Allison, but not the 6-speed. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it seems that it is something with how the manufacturer programmed the ECU/what parameters they included in that vehicle.

RE: TFT Code for ScanGauge 2 ??

Try not using the VPW protpcal and use the CAN protocol. The Allison 6 speed uses CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol and the command goes something like this, 07E2F1221940. This breaks down to 07E2 = command to the TCM, F122 = mode and 1940 = transmission PID code. The key to this is 07E2 part... and what the TCM returns to that command. I appreciate your suggestion, thank you! I tried the 07E2 with and without the added 01 on the end, no luck, was blank. Welcome any other ideas to try... :?

TFT Code for ScanGauge 2 ??

I have a new ScanGauge 2. Using the Xgauge feature I can't get a legit reading for the Tx temperature. The literature I have found offers codes with optional 01 at end if doesn't work. Also alternate TXD code, 4th digit swap 0 for the 8. However any of the code combinations I use reads either blank, or a constant 32 which can't be correct. Please suggest a correct code. What I am using is below. I have a 2007 Winnebago W24 with gas Vortec 8.1L engine, 6-speed Allison Tx, GM VPW OBDII protocol. TXD 6C18F122194001 RXF 046205190640 RXD 3008 MTH 00090005FFD8 NAME TFT Appreciate your help, thank you...

Spark Plug Confusion ??

Hi, we have a 2007 Winn with a gas 8.1L Vortec engine. I want to replace the spark plugs and wires. According to the manual I am to use AC Delco 41-983 plugs. Yet when I check NAPA, Advance and O'Reilly's, all 3 claim these do not fit and list others. Yet all 3 do carry them. Worse, one store lists one the fits that the other says does not, and vice versa. Further, I check the Workhorse parts site, they say should be AC 41-101, yet none of the stores say that, yet do carry them. What a mess... Should I heed the manual says and ignore the store fit claims? Should I heed the Workhorse site even though the stores disagree, and does not match the manual? Or should I heed the store's advice? Even then not sure how to pick which one? Plus do I use the gap out of the box or adjust? Any inputs would be appreciated, maybe they do this so we won't try to change them ourselves, argh... :h

It's not a big deal but no matter what I do I can't get my signature to be included in my posts. I check to automatically add, I check to add, nothing works. I must be missing something.... or it doesn't work :S

RE: Replacement RV Slide Out Topper

I ended up ordering from RV Awnings Mart. They carry 16 mil material, standard 48" width. They only sell 3 lengths so I just ordered longer than I need and will cut prior to installation. Thanks to Doug above I am no longer concerned about winding up the extra 20" width. Always fixing something, Happy Camping! ;)
