RE: trailer jack on a tow dolly

You should not disconnect the dolly from the towing vehicle with a towed vehicle loaded on the dolly. It can be dangerous. Here is a pretty complete instruction video on tow dollies. Disconnecting a loaded dolly is addressed at about 8:15 in the video. https://youtu.be/i2VLlxx2MHo

RE: Now this is different an Australian Super C

We live close to a race track and see several like that pulling stock car trailers every weekend during race season.

RE: Good time to buy class a diesel?

I think Class As are selling too. We traded up from a 37' gasser to a 40' diesel pusher last March, and I think we just beat the rush. Since then, our dealer who deals almost exclusively in Class As can't seem to keep new units in stock.

RE: Breaking down and smoking a turkey?

I do a lot of turkeys for us and for others in either a charcoal grill, pellet smoker, or wood fired smoker. We haven't cooked a turkey in an oven in decades. I always do turkeys at 300 - 325 degrees with hickory smoke. I never bother with brining, unless someone wants that salt and brown sugar cure flavor. Nearly all frozen turkeys are already injected with brine at 8 - 10 %. Read the fine print on the packaging and you will see something like this, which is from Butterball packaging: "Ingredients: Whole Young Turkey Contains up to 8% of a solution of water, salt, spices and natural flavor." Realized I didn't address breaking down the bird. If it fits in the smoker, even if it's a tight fit, I'd cook it whole. The bird below just barely fit in a Davy Crockett smoker. Also, here is a link to cooking a turkey in a Weber style grill.. https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/127097584_10108565293994200_6081360689889165235_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&ccb=2&_nc_sid=8bfeb9&_nc_ohc=s2UgEiutFlYAX8RGqkN&_nc_ht=scontent-ort2-2.xx&oh=b71a9f601f42b7a3b90c1e84b6c945da&oe=60122F8A width=400

RE: Which TT has the Best Kitchen and Why?

We eat simple foods, but seek out the best ingredients and use good technique. It looks like you've gotten a wealth of advice, but your comment brought an incident to mind. Some years ago we attended a charity event that featured tasting plates by notable chefs from the region. At one point, a young woman who I did not recognize circulated through the crowd with a large tray of bite sized pieces of meat. To this day, I think it was the best single bite of meat I have ever had. And, trust me, I know something about meat. She thanked the crowd for all the compliments, and revealed that there was no secret to it. It was merely an excellent piece of goat loin, seasoned with salt and pepper and properly cooked. The young lady, it turned out was Stephanie Izard.

RE: Roadside assistance

June 2018 on a rural 2 lane road S. of Troy, IL blew LF tire. It took several calls to State Farm and about 3 hrs for them to get a service truck with the correct tire out of St. Louis. The service guy took wheel off and mounted new tire on the shoulder of the road. Got me back underway about 2:30 am. Total out of pocket cost to me $100. I was, as they say, a happy camper. https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/34337231_10105741066344050_5835852509259759616_o.jpg?_nc_cat=101&ccb=2&_nc_sid=19026a&_nc_ohc=5n7xYagMeUcAX_ukj5b&_nc_ht=scontent-ort2-2.xx&oh=1bc191949aa88624aa080435bdc673b2&oe=5FFFDF8B width=400

RE: Can I have a virtual background for virtual meeting...?

Yes, if your computer's video card is supported in Zoom. In Zoom go to settings > background & filters. You will see a number of provided backgrounds. You will also see a plus sign. Click the plus sign "+" to upload a background pic to the background library where it can be selected. FYI - there is an animated beach background provided that you can select.

RE: Oklahoma State Parks

I grew up along the KS-OK border. I remember as a kid standing on the front porch watching tornados off in the distance. In 2013 a tornado struck the Oklahoma Trap & Skeet grounds during the state trap championships. The area was cleared as it approached, so no injuries, but many campers and the club buildings destroyed. RE: How important is tire size to your selection?

It looks like the GVWR/CGVWR are the same at 22,000/26,000 on the Mirada and the Vision XL. We had a 2010 Mirada 35DS with the same ratings for 5 seasons. We weighed right at 20,000 travel ready. It was on 19.5's and we never had an issue.

RE: Buying used from Dealership and trading in our C

We traded our Class A gasser on a nice used Diesel pusher this spring. The price on the DP was about mid-way between low and avg NADA retail. The trade in allowance on our gasser was right at NADA low retail.

RE: Portable Smoker Ideas??

I also have a Green Mountain Davey Crockett. It has been travelling with us in the storage bays of 2 motorhomes over the past 4 years. It requires electric power, but will run on either 110V or 12V. I've had electric and propane in the past, but you can't beat a pellet smoker for convenience and ease of use to cook true wood smoke BBQ. https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15355643_10104044306903570_179120957717854215_n.jpg?_nc_cat=109&ccb=2&_nc_sid=8bfeb9&_nc_ohc=WYxVCPAPWSQAX_3fMPB&_nc_ht=scontent-ort2-2.xx&oh=b81ff7a5c652817ecb144ec816c9fc2c&oe=5FD32E75 height=300 width=400

RE: State Farm Insurance coverage for roof water damage

Several years ago I noticed storm damage to my motorhome roof when I looked out an upstairs window while parked at home. Took it to my dealer and they advised roof should be replaced, and I should contact my insurance company. Estimate was $6,000. One call to State Farm and they coordinated with the dealer. A couple weeks later SF cut the check for $6,000.

RE: Tax Right off

TXGearhead: Here you go - https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/sales/use-tax.php My employer in IL got dinged on this in an audit about 20 years ago. I was buying desktop computers from a vendor in another state for company use and we were not being charged sales tax. We got a tax bill equal to the IL sales tax rate.

RE: Tax Right off

I bought it out of state and didn't pay sales tax. Does your state have "use tax" for items purchased out of state? If so, that out of state purchase showing up on your tax filing might trigger a use tax bill.

RE: Your "favorite" BBQ Grill, suggestions

I've been using a Smoke Hollow Vector for several years and like the smoke box feature for grilling. It will also do a fair job as a BBQ smoker. But, i also carry a Green Mountain Davy Crockett smoker, and we bust it out if we really want BBQ.

RE: Fall color trip to north country

Just returned from Muskie fishing in northern Wisconsin. Did not take the Motorhome. Spent one night in a motel en-route then stayed in rented house on lake when we arrived, so don't know about campgrounds. Businesses required face coverings, and the one place we stopped for food was carryout only. No problems
