RE: Hwy 20 from Grand Teton NP to Casper Wyoming

you can take 26 from Moran Junction to Riverton and then up to Shoshoni to 20 and on to Casper from there. There's a mountain pass east of Moran Junction, but nothing scary. About what you'll cross going east out of Yellowstone Park.

RE: Yellowstone Questions

I don't know if there are any cabins at Fishing Bridge. There are lots of them just down the road at the Lake Hotel. There are some at Old Faithful Lodge area. The Lake Hotel is only two miles from Fishing Bridge, so it's fairly central on the east side of the Park. West Yellowstone has lots of motels and will probably be your best bet. As stated, it's right on the edge of the Park and 14 miles from the junction that will take you north and around the loop to Fishing Bridge, or south and around the loop past Old Faithful to Lake Hotel and Fishing Bridge. There is a middle road between the north and south loops, so you can take two days to see the north loop and two days to see the south loop. We like to plan on lunch or dinner at Old Faithful and watch the geyser go off before or after we eat...about 1 hour between eruptions. I recommend a tour of Old Faithful Lodge and one or two of the visitor centers...Mammoth at the north end for sure. Take binoculars. you will be glad you did. Cell phone service is not so good, but you can get good service up at the top of Mt.Washburn. I recommend also that you fly into Jackson, rent the car there, and drive through Teton National park on your way to Yellowstone. The Tetons are unforgettable!

RE: Best route from Merced Ca to Mesa Az

we use the 58 to needles, 95 down to I-10 and straight on to PHX. They have turned 60 into a pretty good traffic carrier east of I-10. If you just want an overnight parking place, the junction at 58 and 395 has a big parking lot just east of the light on the right. we've stayed there, but it's busy with trucks.. and we've stayed at Barstow at the Flying J which is a mile south of the I 15 and 58 junction.

RE: Mice and soap

we use the peppermint on cotton balls, but this past september, we caught two of the little buggers with glue traps. so nothing works perfectly.

RE: toilet treatment for black water tank

we treat ours with cheap liquid detergent and borax, a couple cups of each. we use it to treat the gray water too. start with a couple gallons of water in the tanks. it works very well. we frequently go as long as 10 days before dumping.

RE: Texas to Washington State

We've been over most of the roads mentioned so far in this thread and Islandman's suggestion sounds the best to me for avoiding weather conditions and tough grades.

RE: Stopping at flying j, Cracker Barrel etc

the poster is asking for information/advice....not judgement. shame on those who are snarky without provocation. p.s. walmarts, sams, and even home depots..... just ask management if it's ok.

RE: Road closure (detour) questions

take I 435 up to I 29, then exit onto highway 92 and take that east all the way to I 35. It's a two lane road, but we use it every year with our rig.

RE: I10 Fl. to Ca.

Between San Antonio, TX and Tucson, AZ, there will be a possibility of brief snow/sleet storms that are usually fast moving but make for slick roads for a day or so. Just pay attention to weather reports. you will probably sail right through with no trouble at all.

RE: Camping in Nebraska

Chadron State Park, 9 miles south of Chadron, on 385, is a really nice little state park. as stated, highway 2 is more scenic. At Halsey, there is the Nebraska State Forest Nursery and there is camping there. But be aware that highway 2 is on a main train line with trains running all night long. :) We like overnighting at Sidney because it has a walmart and cabelas. and cabelas has a nice rv park.

RE: Moki Dugway, Should I try it?

NO! the road is narrow and there are overhanging cliffs along the way so you can't hug the inside as close as you would like to.

RE: Dry camping on the way from page to Las Vegas

If you turn off on 64 and go through the Grand Canyon Park and exit out the south gate, you will find national forest land with dry camping just outside the gate.

RE: Casper Wy to Cody Wy via US 20

RE: Blue Beacon Truck Wash

we have used blue beacon etc many times. the one that is most convenient for us is in central AZ, on I 10, near the I 8 junction. they will wash your toad, too...or not, according to your choice.

RE: Best Southern Fried Chicken Batter

this sounds like a good batter recipe, but I like mine better: 1 regular can of beer and 1 1/2 Cups flour...let it sit for at least one hour. Add some seasoning, salt, garlic powder, etc, if you want. you can dip anything into this batter and it's GOOD. :)

RE: I-44 North of Wichita Falls TX

From my map, it looks like US 70 is where the Toll Road begins. So get off at the exit there.
