RE: Quiet series generator 9500 watts!!!

No thanks. Another made in china piece of garbage from harbor freight. At that price you could do better.

RE: New fifth wheel update

Congrats on the new 5er! We hope to join the ranks of 5th wheel owners very soon as well.

RE: Super spring

Thanks to everyone that offer good advice putting Timbren on should help with sagging. I had a Chevy 1/2 ton since 2013 with max trailing package with super springs putting a 5th wheel never had any problems. Yes, there are so many people here just waiting to jump on somebody to tell them what they can and can't do. You can't tow a 5er with a half ton. You can't tow a 5er with a 2500. You can't tow a 5er with a single rear wheel 2500. You MUST only tow a 5er with a 3500 dually. :h Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the weight police circling like sharks ready to attack. ;)

RE: 5th wheel or gooseneck?

What do you guys think about the Anderson hitch with the kingpin coupler? Seems like it would put no more strain than a traditional 5th wheel hitch on the frame of the 5er. I like the fact that it only weighs 40-45lbs and is easily removed when not needed.

5th wheel or gooseneck?

Do you guys have any preference for one or the other and why? Exploring my options for our future 5er.

RE: First Tow with 2500 Ram

Congrats on your great experience with your CTD. I also had a great first towing experience when we got our 2017 CTD. I use the EB all the time when towing and also T/H mode. I set the CC at 65mpg and let the truck do it's thing. It maintains the speed whether going uphill or downhill with ZERO input from me and even in the mountainous west.

RE: Operational problems with new diesel pickups

I think you will be vary happy with your new truck. Most of the problems you read about on truck forums are GREATLY exaggerated. People generally don't go to truck forums and tell us how great they are. When diesels were first made to use DEF there were problems but they have long since been worked out.

RE: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real Deal

As a unofficial member of what is referred to as the weight police, please keep in mind that this is an educational forum. We are not going to jump out and arrest you. Having spent more than 20 years as a weight and balance specialist (ACFT Loadmaster) I have more understanding than most. I have operated under various rules running from peace time "take no chances- be safe", to combat, "just get it there, and try not to break anything." After you post, read the comments and make the decision that take the various opinions into account. Its your life. Unfortunately our decisions sometimes put others at risk. Regards Bill Yup, you're the one I was referring to. I guess you just couldn't help yourself. :h I asked a simple question of those that tow with a 2500. There are many example of 5ers being towed with 3/4 ton trucks over in the picture section of the 5th wheel forum.

RE: Truly towable with 1/2 ton?

Even some 3/4 ton trucks pulling a "1/2" rated 5th wheel have their hands full in certain situations with that trailer. It may pull it on a flat road with a cooler ambient temperature but when you hit the mountains, the whole situation changes. The real world and the salesperson's/manufacturer world is certainly different. You may have the power for a while to pull a 5th wheel but I would say on long grades in the summer, the world changes as well as trying to stop the trailer going down a long grade. Be very cautious when you pull the trigger on both units. Been there, done that. Curly Really? Do 5th wheels no longer have brakes? When properly set up there should be no difference in stopping with or without the trailer.

RE: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real Deal

I'm wondering how many of you tow one with a 2500? My wife and I are looking to buy a 5er to tow with our 2017 Ram CTD 2500. Before the payload police start preaching, I don't want to hear it. The 2500 is what we have so we'll have to make it work. We are NOT going to go out and buy a 3500.

Curious why you quoted me as nothing you just stated correlates with what I said??? Sorry about that, I meant to quote plumber802

RE: Ram 2500 only carries 2300 lbs.

Since a few of you guys have Ram pick-ups let me ask about your real world experience. The 5er my wife is looking at has an advertised hitch weight of 2580lbs so I'm sure actual loaded hitch weight will be at least 2800lbs. I'm wondering how much my 2500 Ram will sag.

RE: Changed the rear springs

" If not, then I'll have to install a pair of airbags." IMHO bags should have been the first choice. bags are a bandaid, springs are probably the best choice but also the most expensive. having had bags before I would buy timberans before I waisted money on bags again. Steve Are they the hollow rubber springs that make contact only when truck loaded? Like these? https://i.imgur.com/n6yHAbMm.png

RE: Changed the rear springs

People who don't like the ride of their air bags when towing most likely have too much air in them. I only ran 30psi LOADED with 4,500# pin on my 11 DRW RAM and the ride was dramatically improved over stock. Unloaded they make zero difference since you only should run 0-5 psi. I like how people say you should go out and buy a bigger truck. Not everyone can just go out and buy a $60,000+ truck to haul the 5er. I have a 2500 Ram diesel very much like the OP. I will be looking to do the same thing as him because the truck will not be towing our future 5er 95% of the time.

RE: Had a mounting bolt failure on my Equal-i-zer hitch

On both of the pictures i see the indents of the screw on the frame in diffent spots. Unless you moved them it seems as if the bolt isn't tight enough as its moving. They do say to check it , but i doubt many do, i dont do it regularly. Now i will. Maybe some lock tight might help. Fantastic! Kuddos to Progress Mfg. I'm always happy to see a company stand behind it's products. Even when it is 16 years old.:)

RE: Smartplug Converstion

Seems like the OP didn't get the response he was looking for. I agree it's a solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. How many million of rv's and TT have the standard plugs with ZERO problems?

RE: Is it a sin to modify an antique cast iron griddle?

I understand the feeling of responsibility to preserve something. One question in my mind would be, can you make it beautiful, if you change it? Its a chunk of metal and nothing more. It does not have to be "beautiful" to grill up a pancake but it does need to fit on the stove. ^^This^^ It belong to you so you should do as you please. If it doesn't fit on your stove or grill you're not going to use it so there would be not point in even having it. Grind away!
