RE: Changed the rear springs

People who don't like the ride of their air bags when towing most likely have too much air in them. I only ran 30psi LOADED with 4,500# pin on my 11 DRW RAM and the ride was dramatically improved over stock. Unloaded they make zero difference since you only should run 0-5 psi. I like how people say you should go out and buy a bigger truck. Not everyone can just go out and buy a $60,000+ truck to haul the 5er. I have a 2500 Ram diesel very much like the OP. I will be looking to do the same thing as him because the truck will not be towing our future 5er 95% of the time.

RE: Had a mounting bolt failure on my Equal-i-zer hitch

On both of the pictures i see the indents of the screw on the frame in diffent spots. Unless you moved them it seems as if the bolt isn't tight enough as its moving. They do say to check it , but i doubt many do, i dont do it regularly. Now i will. Maybe some lock tight might help. Fantastic! Kuddos to Progress Mfg. I'm always happy to see a company stand behind it's products. Even when it is 16 years old.:)

RE: Smartplug Converstion

Seems like the OP didn't get the response he was looking for. I agree it's a solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. How many million of rv's and TT have the standard plugs with ZERO problems?

RE: Is it a sin to modify an antique cast iron griddle?

I understand the feeling of responsibility to preserve something. One question in my mind would be, can you make it beautiful, if you change it? Its a chunk of metal and nothing more. It does not have to be "beautiful" to grill up a pancake but it does need to fit on the stove. ^^This^^ It belong to you so you should do as you please. If it doesn't fit on your stove or grill you're not going to use it so there would be not point in even having it. Grind away!

RE: 110V Hookup

The heater is propane so not an electric draw other than the fan. 110 should be fine. If you don't have any Covid symptoms then you don't have Covid. No worries. Not true AT ALL. There have been countless cases of people getting Covid from someone who was asymptomatic. I really doubt the OP would want to risk his parents getting sick or something even worse because he had your attitude. :M

RE: Green Valve Stem Covers

Ok... thought so. Wasn't sure if I had to keep using nitrogen or not, but you answered that question. Air it will be! Thanks! except you will lose the benifit of what nitrogen does. if you fill with all nitrogen you will see slightly lower running temps, less pressure loss and it keeps the inside dryer. Steve OMG! :R

RE: Greasing the hitch

Reese Hitch Ball Lube https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61yv70lxV8L._AC_SL1500_.jpg width=160 Now that's funny $10 bucks for 3.2oz.of genuine "Reese hitch lube". It always amazes me how much people over-think such simple things. If there is metal to metal contact and it's going to move then yes is should have some grease, ANY KIND of grease.

RE: Peak Blue Platinum DEF

Frankly as a retired chemist I'd be more likely to believe this if they explained what miracle additive they are using. Otherwise it sounds like marketing BS. DEF is plain and simple 35% Urea and I don't know what 'deposits they were referring to. Searching google for 'def deposits' gets zero hits. True, and from what I've read, there is no good/better/best or "premium" DEF. It's kind of like buying isopropyl alcohol at the drugstore; all brands are the same, it either meets a standard or it doesn't. That's why I buy the Walmart house brand for $7.88 for 2.5 gallons. Peak at Walmart is $11.88. Pump DEF is even cheaper but that's very inconvenient for me. I've been using the same wallyworld DEF for over a year with ZERO problems. It's nothing more than a marketing ploy. If someone wants to waste their hard earned $$ on this new "Platinum" DEF that's their Choice. That's where the saying " a fool and his money are soon parted" comes in handy. Any DEF that meets the specs will do the job expected of it. That's the same reason that even "house brand" oils that meet the spec for your vehicle work just as well as expensive name brand oil.

RE: How often..

It seems that if I get 4 years out of trailer tire I'm doing good. Even with very low miles they just don't last. I've been lucky in that since 2004 I've only had 3 blowouts on the highway and suffered no damage to the trailer. I usually spot a bad tire when inspecting them before a trip. Usually it's sidewall or tread bulge but a couple of times the tread just separated from the carcass. I did go to D rated tires but they don't seem to last either.

RE: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD Tires

I heard Carlisle are now made in the USA....I guess TN. Heard it from a tire guy and saw it online too. Nope. I just bought 2 Carlisle ST tires last week and they are made in china. I had to buy 2 of them on our way out of town pulling our TT on vacation and noticed bulges on the tread surface of 2 tires. They didn't have any GY Endurance in stock at the time.:( I bought a Goodyear Endurance last summer and I will bet $$ on which brand will last longer. I've had Carlisle ST tires go bad just sitting there and even with no weight on them as a spare, tread bulge or tread separation on the road. I should add that this usually happens at 3-4 years with very low miles. I will replace as needed with GY made in USA from now on.

RE: Dutch oven recipes

Many times I'll have 3 dutch ovens going at once. One of our favorites is potatoes and onions with kielbasa. We also make mtn man breakfast with eggs, onions, cheese, grn peppers and suasage. BBQ chicken thighs are great. Cobbler is always great and very easy.

RE: Healthy Eating

I heard this on the radio a little while ago. To make chocolate milk less unhealthy health Experts say to add peanut skins and coffee grounds! They didn't say whether to use the food processor or not. So when the grand kids want chocolate milk try it. That is just nasty! I think they just wanted to see if anybody was dumb enough to actually do it.

RE: Ram Short Bed best slideer hitch

I don't own a 5er yet but it is the plan. Anyway I personally ALWAYS look at the spot where I'll be backing into with my trailer. What is so hard about unlatching a manual lever on a slider when you get out to look over your intended spot? I had to get out of my truck to lock the manual hubs for 30+ years. Unfortunately we as a society have gotten so lazy we can't even have manual levers for our transfer cases anymore or adjust our mirrors by hand either.

RE: Need tires on my Ram Tow Vehicle.

Any tire except Goodyear. Can't believe the buck passing the CEO did with their support of BLM, but not LE or Trump. One of the largest freight companies in the US just announced that Goodyear is off their list. From now on I'll be buying nothing but Goodyear tires. The heck with orange man the putin puppet.

RE: GEAR LUBE LEVEL QUESTION, 2016 CTD 2500

AMZ/OIL 75-90 Severe Gear 4 quarts. Use their soft fill container and its full when it pours out!!! You will thank me, the OE lube is JUNK! https://i.imgur.com/DTl46Pfl.jpg Amsoils is a complete waste of $$. ANY gear oil that meets the specs for GL5 gear oil will do just fine. Why overpay $18 for amsoil when you can just use $6 or $7 dollar gear lube of any kind?

RE: Need tires on my Ram Tow Vehicle.

The Wranglers didn't last that long, but they were a great towing tire when I had them on my Ram 1500. I just aired them to their max pressure and it handled very well. I replaced them with Cooper ATs which ended up being a downgrade as far as towing was concerned. That was before this newest generation of Cooper tires though. I'm currently running Nitto Ridge Grapplers in a P Metric size and they perform admirably. I definitely understand peoples urge to go to LT tires, but I don't think it's necessary at the weights you're talking about. JMHO Better to have tires that are tougher than needed rather than have tires that are barely adequate being run at their limit.

I must have gotten lucky when I ordered my new Coleman a/c unit in mid May. I received it in about 1 week with no problems.
