RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Meanwhile in Tennessee, GM has started building the Cadillac LYRIQ. In Detroit, GM continues to actually build the Hummer EV super Truck. Nobody needs to just take drone pictures. The plant is done. Vehicles being delivered as announced. No outrageous deposits for years. Just doing what they announced. And on the vernal equinox, GM has shared more detail for the all electric Equinox. Real EVs, that will be built and sold as announced. You have to admit Tesla is "jumping" in the lead. :B

RE: New tow vehicle after 3 years of hard work

Great looking tow rig, good job. It would be a great tow rig for a nostalgia racer. I can see it pulling a front engine dragster on an open trailer. Close enough? This old school Vega is what it towed for years and years. https://i.imgur.com/r4SS6jql.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qZ1eaIjl.jpg

New tow vehicle after 3 years of hard work

Finally finished this thing up after 3 years of hard work. After racing a friend of mines car for 15 years I told him I would do all the body and paint work on his tow rig Burb for free if he would buy the materials. We use to use this as a tow vehicle for the race car. It was in great mechanical shape but the body was a mess. The spec: 350 Vortex engine with RV cam, HEI ign, duel plane intake and long tube headers (about 300HP). Late model 700R4 trans. 12 bolt with 3.73 gears. Huge front power disk brakes with huge rear drum. Power steering. Custom 1 piece drive shaft. 36 gallon custom aluminum fuel tank. Front and rear sway bars. KH trailer brake controller. Huge off-set double core aluminum radiator. Limo tint windows. It's a bitter sweet ending though. The race car has been sold many years ago and the trailer was just sold yesterday. The vehicle that was made to tow will likely never tow again......at least in this owners life time. I traveled thousands of miles in this Burb going to and coming from many race tracks. It was always a super nice ride and towed great and never broke down. When this thing is sold someone is going to get a great tow vehicle that will only go up in price and value. https://i.imgur.com/CR7Pn9cl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Eql961Fl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7Wnw5nnl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yXNHsCdl.jpg

Well it's been a month Marty. Any movement on this? Or is this going to be like the Tesla Semi deal? :B (just one more year, just one more year........)

RE: Why not diesel electric trucks?

Why has it not been scaled down to pull 20-40,000 pounds yet? Because of this pesky problem. Trains don't do this for fuel efficiency. They do it for reasons Ben stated. If you have 4 engines pulling a train it would be a nightmare to get all 4 to dump the clutch at the same time! :B

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

My buddy just replaced his Prius battery the year before last. $5,500 dollars. Only Toyota would touch the thing so no aftermarket option. His girlfriend had the same problem and the same cost. BTW not even close to 200,000 miles. BTW, BTW Tusk said he would have battery prices down to 50 to 55 cents a KWH. How did that work out for you buddy? How is this for a segue? He talks of Prius issues with batteries. Then all of a sudden a right turn to blame "Tusk" for it. Excuse me but your slip (do they still use them when they meant to show their thongs) is showing.:B Hahahahaha......BOOM!!!!

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Just how much does a battery cost when they go bad? Just go to this link and find out. Break out another few $10,000 and then some! Twentyish years ago there was lots of similar screeching and wailing about the potential cost of replacing a battery in a hybrid vehicle. At the time "no one in their right mind" would by a Prius since the battery would only last 50,000 miles and Toyota would charge upwards of $7000 to replace it. As it turns out, hybrid batteries often last 200,000 miles or more and the aftermarket has lessened the cost of replacement, around $2K. Electric vehicles are no different. There will be isolated cases of batteries failing, of course, and along with those there will be instances of unlucky owners having to shell out thousands for out of pocket repairs. Not much different than those unlucky early 6.7 Ford diesel owners who have had injector pumps fail, or 6.4 owners who have had turbo failures, the list goes on.

Turtle n Peeps wrote: "Even in a toy car that weighs 4K they blow up. Look what happened at the Nurburgring." You imply something bad happened at Nürburgring. Please enlighten us as to what happened. https://i.imgur.com/20kn1mll.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uIcwxM1l.jpg There is a whole world of difference between a racing engine that puts out 600 HP and a class 8 truck engine that puts out 600 HP. There is a whole world of difference between an engine the can put out 500 HP for hours and an engine that can put out 500 HP for a few minutes at a time on a track. Anybody that thinks you can bolt several model 3 motors in a semi are you're good to go is delusional. And before the fan boi's move the goal post again; Tusk talked about an over the road class 8 semi. He was not talking about a UPS city vehicle that bee bops around a city route of 100 miles or so. “If you want, for long-range trucking, you can take the range up to, we think, easily 800 km, and we see a path over time to 1,000 km range for a heavy-duty truck,” said Musk. You heard it from Tusk first: 621 miles. Now we will see how the goal post moves. Time, remember when you said we will see a handful of Tesla Semi's at the end of 2019......then 2020.....then 2021? We are at the beginning of 2022. Where is the Semi at?

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Remember when Tusk said the Semi was going to operate off of model 3 motors? What a joke. What motor will be used now? 4x Model 3 is close to 1000 horsepower. Almost as much as your dragster. You do understand duty cycle don't you? There is a reason you don't see 6.6 Duramax, 6.7 Superduty or pickup Cummins engines in a class 8 semi. Anybody can get the 600 HP needed for a class 8 truck now days. It's the duty cycle that would kill these little toy engines. Do you seriously think a toy model 3 toy motor will work in a semi? I don't care if you put 10 of them in a semi. Even in a toy car that weighs 4K they blow up. Look what happened at the Nurburgring. (Ben I wrote this early in this morning but it didn't get published for some reason. I see you had the same thoughts as I did.)

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

When is the Semi come out? Remember? The Semi?Great question. Keep checking in right here to get the latest updates of empty promises and speculation. To my knowledge the Semi has not been cancelled. Why on earth would Tusk cancel the Semi? He has 10's of millions? 100's of millions from corporations that want to look like they are doing something. I call them donations. Tusk calls them reservations. Tusk never cancels anything. He just keeps on pushing the date out, and out and out and out and out and out and out and out. Remember FSD? Remember the 1,000,000 Robo taxies that Tusk said was going to be on the road years ago? Tusk has all of these suckers......er.....sorry.....customers money and works off of it. Cool scheme!! Remember when Tusk said the Semi was going to operate off of model 3 motors? What a joke. Just go back and read some articles from fraudtec if you want a laugh.

RE: Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride set for Oct 26th !

Yes, it is street legal with a plate, windshield wiper, headlights and everything. With a 10 gallon tank it can go about as far as a Tesla towing a small camp trailer. So ya, it sucks to go long distances just like the Tesla does. So you must compare Tesla towing to your vehicle NOT towing? Why not compare both towing or both not towing? I speculate that thing has never taken a 100 mile road trip unless it was on a trailer. I think the Tesla would tow it better than it would tow the tesla. Don't get mad at me because you were wrong about my car. Like I said, both suck at going long distances. If I wanted to go long distances I would take my truck. It can go over 650 miles without filling up. (or about 350 miles towing) Or I take my plug in. It can go over 600 miles without filling up. I don't tow with my PIHB. That would be silly. I don't tow with my 32 LOL. That would be silly. Much like towing with a Tesla is silly.. If I want to beat a Tesla on a track I take my 32. And if I wanted my 32 to go long distances I would just throw a few tanks of fuel in it. You see, I can take a lot of energy with me. Unlike the Tesla. Simple, the right tool for the right job. Can someone give me a date when I will see the Semi on the road towing 5 to 700 miles with 80K total lbs just like Tusk said it would? Or are we just going to post articles that have been wrong time and time again. :R

Cool!!! RV.Net turned into a racing channel and I just noticed!! My street will will go 0 to 60 in 1.8 seconds! https://i.imgur.com/8weH5iSl.jpgThat is street legal? Even if it is I would rather drive the Tesla. Any range anxiety on that streeter? Little Deuce Coupe, You Don't What I Got........:C:C It has a 572 CI BBC in it. Yes, it is street legal with a plate, windshield wiper, headlights and everything. With a 10 gallon tank it can go about as far as a Tesla towing a small camp trailer. So ya, it sucks to go long distances just like the Tesla does. :B The thing is I can fill my "battery" up in about 2 minutes and I'm on the road again. Oh, and I could have bought 1 Tesla or about 12 street rods. 150K buys a lot of gas. Anybody seen the Semi? Even Tusk is talking about other things and has forgot about the lies he told about the Semi. How many million miles of testing does the Semi have now? How many million tons of freight has the Semi hauled while testing? Is there any video's of the Semi driving long distances? Or driving any distances? The Semi is still MIA. (don't tell me, don't tell me....the end of this year. Right?

RE: Dodge all in on electric too 500 mile range Ram

OK - for all you EV haters try this: GMC Sierra 2500 - all electric (prototype) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBWm_LZ0GYs The key to this report - they know what it takes to have uninterrupted power under heavy load for long hauls.... This is about EV motors, but battery technology is also keeping up with this need. What an absolute joke of a video. The dude start off talking about towing and how awesome it will be for towing and what does the guy do? He "drifts" the truck like some 16 year old that just got a Dodge Red Eye. If you talk about towing.....tow with it!!! Stop with all the BS of drifting in the snow. I can do that with a Civic. Just a joke.

RE: 3.0 Duramax concerns ?

My buddy has one and loves it. He claims 30mpg solo and 20 towing a 27 foot TT. The thing is super quiet. If I remember correctly the thing puts out more power than the first V8 Duramax. The only thing I don't like about it is the price.
