RE: Oregon, Bend to The Dalles

We made that drive in early to mid June this year. No problems at all.

RE: Mt Rainier and North Cascades

We stayed at the KOA in Leavenworth about 6 weeks ago. It was very nice.

RE: Jeep Grand Cherokee, experiences, thoughts, opinions?

Our Grand Cherokee has been an outstanding dingy! We had two different Ford Edges that were very good dinghies, but not as good as the Grand Cherokee.

We have the frameless windows that crank out about four inches at the bottom. The air flow is terrible.

RE: Hwy 115 north from 50 in Colorado

If I’m not mistaken that route takes you through Fort Carson. If so that is a very good short cut that we have taken several times.

RE: Most scenic rv campground in Glacier

The KOA near the west entrance to Glacier National Park is one of the prettiest and nicest we have ever been in.

RE: Cortez, CO RV parks?

We stayed at the campground inside Mesa Verde National Park. It was a very large campground but there were only 15 or so full hookup sites.

RE: RV furniture

The same thing happened to us when we had a fifth wheel. We found the right size online with Lazy Boy.

RE: gas mileage

I had always heard the statement “if you are worried about the gas mileage you can’t afford it.” After having owned a class A gasser for four years and a a class A diesel pusher for six years I understand and completely agree with that statement. We get about 8 to 12 mpg towing or not, tail wind or not, gas or diesel.

No Dispersed Camping Near Crested Butte, Colorado

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned the decision to discontinue dispersed camping in the Crested Butte, Colorado area. Or did I miss it? I don’t know how to post a link.

RE: Extended warranty - best options?

We had an extended warranty once. Never again. Our few claims were denied almost every time. Sorry your ac quit, it’s not covered because the park’s electricity fluctuated. Your brakes aren’t covered because your tire went flat. The company used any excuse it could find to deny coverage.

Hehr Window Repair

I have Hehr windows in my coach, the kind that crank out a few inches at the bottom. A couple years ago the escape window came unglued. Two RV places couldn’t fix it. A repair place I had used several times claimed that the window had to be replaced at about $500. Since then the same thing has happened to four other windows. Each time I used Gorilla Glue (for glass and metal) and strong clamps to make the repairs myself. Now if I could just put a nail in without bending it.

RE: Road way and Elevation issues while traveling

The Mountain Directory (east and west) is an excellent way to check routes for mountain passes and grades.

RE: TT Floorplan with recliners on back

Our Big Horn 35RL fifth wheel had many of those features. But, as I said, it was a fifth wheel.

RE: Would you back a camper for someone?

Sjm9911 is absolutely right. Practice in a big empty parking lot and you’ll be an expert in no time. Twice I arrived at a camp site suffering from pneumonia and couldn’t back my rig. A fellow camper quickly volunteered and had us in position in just minutes. RVers are usually great people.
