RE: Truck batteries

I bought my F-250 Diesel new in March 1997. The original Ford Motorcraft batteries were still testing good in April 2016 when they were replaced as we were going cross country for 10 weeks and I was getting a little concerned as they were now 19 years old. The truck is used only for camping (truck camper and 5th wheel) and is plugged into a battery minder when not in use. If the new Interstate batteries last half as long I will be happy.

RE: Florida in January

Some of the Florida Water Management Districts allow camping on their conservation lands. Most sites do not have hookups. We have been to the Southwest District Serenova Tract near Land O'Lakes.

RE: Hwy 302 between I-93 (NH) and I-91 (VT)

Just did that today towing a small tt. Have done it towing a 5er also. It is doable but the pavement was rough in some places and time wise would not be much shorter than driving the interstates.

RE: Wall mount AC Leaking

Had the same problem with mine. The plastic trim on the outside was trapping the water. Cut out the existing slots on the lower edge of the trim so that the slot is flush with the side of the trailer and does not trap the water.

RE: carbon Monoxide alarm going off

If the hot water heater burner is not adjusted properly it will put out enough carbon monoxide to set off the alarm. Take it back to the dealer and have them adjust it.

RE: Towing with 2017 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve

What are you towing with now? Is it comparable to the Nissan? Any issue with your current vehicle?

RE: Raleigh to Charlottesville, VA advice

Did the 288 bypass to I-64 two weeks ago. No problems when we did it around 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Like the previous poster said, use exit 62 on I-95.

RE: 2018 GMC Canyon

I have a 2018 Colorado Z71 Crew Cab with Short Bed. I’m seriously considering a Grand Design Imagine XLS 22RBE 5K weight, tongue 500lbs, GVWR 6,500 Length 25’ 11”. I know I’m on the edge here and should not have let the boss talk me into looking at it! We are replacing a 35’ Titanium that lives in Indio CA and that is just worn out! We can spend the winter in CA/AZ quite comfortably with the Imagine! Comments appreciated! I am looking at the same trailer to tow with my Colorado. Dealer near me has one on the lot for over a year but doesn't want to come down much on the price. If you buy the trailer post your experiences as I am somewhat concerned about the length.

RE: 2018 GMC Canyon

I'm currently towing a 3000 lb. dry 18 ft. trailer with a Colorado V6 and looking to go a little larger. It will be interesting to hear how the OP does with his new trailer.

RE: GMC Canyon Pickup as a tow vehicle?

I am towing my 18 ft. tt with the V6 Chevy Colorado. No problems whatsoever. Tows great, averaging 14.6 towing at 65 mph on two Vermont to Florida trips and not towing I get 19 to 20 combined city/hwy. Trailer is 7 ft. Wide so I can't say how a wider one would tow.

RE: You very first TC...

My first camper was a 1964 Parkdale 8.5 ft. made in CA. It had the typical icebox, porta potty and propane light, which was also a great heat source. Had it on a 1962 3/4 ton Chevy that had torsion bar front suspension. It was the only year that Chevy did that. It was a good ride. I kept that until 1984 when I bought an F-250 and an 8 ft. Sunline with a fridge and heater. Traded the camper in 1993 for a 9.5 Sunline which was the last one made. Replaced the 1984 F-250 for a 1997 F-250 diesel. Still running that truck and camper combo as I probably will never come up with over $100K to replace both today.

RE: Any Motorhome CG near Boston not requiring mortgage

We have stayed here and it was clean, reasonable and not that far from the transit line.
